15:25 - that music playing softly in the background is from the TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES "Coming Out of Their Shells" album from 1990, available only at Pizza Hut. The song is called "Pizza Power"
My skateboarding babysitter gave me a pavement T-shirt when I was 10. I remember an older kid saw me on the street and said "what the fuck! where did you get that T-shirt kid?"
They took the name from the lyrics from a Minutemen-song who's record falls on the pavement after two skateboarders steal it in a scene from the film "High Fidelity".
@@EconojamI don’t think they have ever stated that? The members have given multiple conflicting answers over the years but that’s a new one for me. I wouldn’t be surprised if that was it though.
@@terry10tnj Bob said it in his podcast. 'Three songs' on Soundcloud. The song is "Fake Contest". He does the podcast with Mike who put out a Minutemen tribute.
@@terry10tnjDon't forget to check Minutemen. And wonder if the intro of Dreams Of Herge by the 3Ds is the intro of Summer Babe. Not to mention the vocal stylings and guitars of the kiwi's.
Great band, I saw them around 1993/4 at the Glasgow QMU and they put on a good show. They were clearly trying to push the limits of what would be considered rock music, some of their experiments were more successful than others but overall more hits than misses.
yeahh! bob is great! when i met him, he even recognized me from the stage and we talked for a couple of hours. never thought id have such an opportunity!
The scene where Malkmus identifies some of the writing in the journal as his friend's, Robert Bingham, was 9 days before Bingham's death from a heroin overdose.
do bands even play like this anymore? i genuinely don't know, didn't get to go to any shows in high school hardly, had a bunch lined up for spring/summer after i graduated and then the pandemic struck and i may never get to see a show again. cool.
I met Lance Bangs while filming Sleater Kinney in San Diego 1999. We talked about trading videos. I sent him my copy like I told him I would. He never sent me anything. Responded a few times though email, but just totally blew me off.............. total bummer dude
I heard this for the first time in the documentary and was like I've heard this song before, then I realized it reminded me of the Beastie Boys song "I don't know" Anyone else see the similarities or am I crazy?
i collect vintage tees & can't help but check out all the great ones here... like SM wearing the "fuck art, let's dance" tshirt (pretty sure it's a Stiff Records tee).... my fav tho, is at 15:17 bob is wearing a very early World Industries (skateboard company) shirt with their pitchfork logo, from the late 80s.. i still have that shirt in my closet... i know, BFD... but i've always been a crazy shirt collector...
Will someone please upload Lance Bang's documentary Breadcrumb Trail about Slint? I've been dying to see it but i already own the vinyl so i dont have much interest in buying the box set
I've tried to l * e * t * m * e * w * a * t * c * h * t * h * i * s slash p * r * i * m * e * w * i * r * e this for a while now and I had no luck, and I really wanted to see this for a while now So, thank you for uploading it. One of my favorite bands.
I have the Slow Century DVD and it's 60 minutes long. How come this is longer and appears to have different footage? Is this an extended version of it? Or a different documentary?
I was at the WV show... it sucked... I was probably one of the few indie kids in WV and this was a huge deal! I saw Superchunk, Helium, Built to Spill, Sonic Youth, and Pavement was high on that list of bands i would have seen for the first time (i was 17). I didnt even make it to the main stage from the second stage... they were pelted off before i could even get there!
Hahahah! Ahh shit.. The funniest part is 1:01:54 from Manchester where some dude is illegally selling Pavement shirts and he doesn’t even know whos behind the camera and says “fuck off mate!”Peed my pants- :)
Actually I just realized that the snippet on Brighten the Corners is technically tracked as the end of Shady Lane and not the beginning of Transport is Arranged as I had always thought
Ibold & Young! "Greatest American Band?" casually came up in conversation amongst friends recently. One said The Dead (yuck, yawn), one said Star Pimp, I said Pavement.
