We install a large paver patio with a curved sidewalk. We do a cool time lapse and also show how we install the soldier course, lay in edge restraints, and finish the backyard up.
After watching this video as long as pricing was fair I would hire this company to do my paver work with no hesitation any day of the week. I wish the majority of contractors would put this type of video together to represent their work. It would make selecting a contractor so much easier.
I love this content. I have been doing paving stone for 22 years and am a professional in it. I also adhere to quality, logical craftsmanship idealogies. It is present within you guys. I love that yall keep the work clean, to me that is one of the biggest pieces of the puzzle. Great work. Great video again guys.
@@Dirtmonkey About the concrete edge restraint.. Can't you just line the "curb" with a foot of mulch, the mulch would act as a devider so the grass doesn't burn
I have been a carpenter for 30 years so I really enjoy watching and learning from you and your guys and don't worry about explaining things to long because it's all in those little details that makes the difference from a great job to a just ok i got throw it job so keep doing what you do and God bless you and your family and workers sir u got a great crew
I absolutely love the format of this video. Showing the team doing the work but then having you comment on they what and why of things is super helpful. I look forward to watching many more videos.
excellent work. I spent 12 years installing pavers and retaining walls in Roanoke, VA. And I see your videos and I remember all the work done in a recidencial and shopping center.
looks good ! I love seeing others crews and how things are similar and things are different. We lay our inlay and solders(border) at the same time. We also call them solders!! Thats awesome!
I am a fan by the way, you give or transimt that feeling of of inspiration, i get pumped up with so much energy and confidence to go do my projects after seeing your videos. Thanks brother i really appreciate the time and effort you put in to this videos, you make our life so easy, especially for beginners, God bless you.
Been watching you for 5 years. I love seeing how guys work on the other side of the country and you specifically have change some of the things I do here now. After watching this one I’m switching from polymeric to regular. Rock on can’t wait for the snow videos!!
Thanks - Great vid. I'm going to do my 1st small paver project coming up and you've taught me a lot. Anyone having a paver job done by a contractor should watch your vids just to know what questions to ask.
I have a small landscape company in Toronto Canada love watching your channel stared watching your snow videos thanks for all the tips been in business for 6 years was a supervisor at a big company for years before opening my own thing love your channel
Amazing work. You guys are true professionals. I am currently doing my own patio and I can tell you it is a huge amount of work and MUCH more difficult than you guys make it look! Keep it up!
I’ve payed pavers for 20 years. And I never see company’s on uou tube cut the outside with a skill saw. That’s how I do it and it saves a ton of time and the cuts match up perfectly good job
Stan, your right on the money with that last comment about praising yourself. Everyone has a trait they excel in, whatever it be, make sure you tell yourself "Good Job!"
It looks amazing, goes great with the raised patio they built. I completely agree on sand and edge supports. I want the plants to grow right up to the edge, and I want those deep stakes grabbing the soil as they rust. They get more secure over time, but still keep better flexibility than concrete.
@@Dirtmonkeyfirst of all big fan of your videos and work you do... I've heard you say you like your fords but since you've owned your dodge 2500 reg cab would you say its not quite AS good, right there with or a little better than your ford pick ups?
@@Dirtmonkey Aluminum screed bars don't warp in the sun either. Milwaukee even made some concrete spirit level with a magnesium screed bar on them. They put up an advertising video of them : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-n56Ebd-EPZw.html Maybe try one out for indoor works, like showers where you have to have a fast drain ? Shop around of course, I doubt Milwaukee are the only ones that make stuff like that.
Total time/days just out of curiosity Took me/wife and kids a week and a half to screed and lay pavers on our 18x43 driveway about 1-3 hours a day with a 2 day rain out lol “Hey BTW THANK YOU SO MUCH!! for all the tips and videos. I feel very confident my work will hold up for years to come. Also used triaxial geo grid in 3 of the lifts 1 at the sub base 1 on my second lift at 4” and 1 at the 10” mark of the 12” base
You do great work it’s amazing I live in ny right outside the city for my final screen we use stonedust and we screeded it tamp it after level we can walk on it but try not 2 we use polymeric and use must charge good money it adds up money 💰 wise then we use the plastic with spikes I learned years ago not to use concrete I feel your above the frost line and it cracks. We cut with 2 stihl ts400 demo saw 14 inch diamond blade I want to let you know I watch everyone of your videos and you do great work I tell my friends I would love to go out one night with you for a good time well be safe keep the videos coming and you do fantastic work thx Dan
Never seen these two guys work! But F**KING great info. I’m green as green can be and love the info that he explained. Where he showed to cut to the stairs you said “little slow” wasn’t slow enough for me lol. Great way to do it and it’s the small things I get hung up on. And love the vice over while there working. Thanks!
At my old work we always used aluminium screeds for large areas, and for the small areas they had cut large aluminium screeds in smaller screeds. The person that learned me everything swore by aluminium screeds. If you use it right and properly it stays a lifetime. So it's a one way cost.
Spikes are the best by the time the spike rots away the soil has compacted and grass roots have taken ahold and will hold the edging/pavers together just fine.
Beautiful! I've done this work for many years. My way is a bit different due to preference and climate. Real pros. I have learned much from you 'Dirt Monkey'!
Great job! I agree with your opinion on the polymeric sand, not my choice either, seems like it tends to grow mold more as well. You guys do great work with pavers ! Good video!
I deliver flowers for one of my two jobs, and I deliver to some very expensive homes, even mansions. I've seen many of paver walks over the years. I would have to say, the work that you guys do, blows everyone else away! Best work I've seen yet! You could start a company! HAHAHA! Just kidding! You guys are great!
Stannnn you are a beauty. Gotta use poly sand though bud. I landscape in Canada and it works so well. If base is done properly the whole patio will move as one unit the sand can flex too it’s great.
@@Dirtmonkey fair enough whatever you do it is working. Love your set ups, equipment and the guys seem like guys that care a lot. Keep up the good work fella
Kudos to Blaine Stan you said once hes a math teacher??? I just wanted to thank him for teaching Sam and all his students he obviously has immense patience as well as the ability to bring the subject too the students. Kudos to Sam YOU'VE got a good farmboy work ethic.
It amazing how my company does the exact same thing you and your crews do all day 5-7 days a week and it still amazes me to sit down and watch your videos daily. Here in south eastern Michigan we use polymeric sand in all our pavers. It usually lasts about 5-8 years depending on the weather conditions. We just blast it out with a power washer and replace it when it’s needed. It really freshens up the pavers. For our base we use 21aa crushed concrete and slag sand. Usually about 4 inches of gravel and 1-2 inches of sand compacted 2-3 times for patios and walkways and 10 inches of gravel and 1-2 inches of sand for driveways and driveway ribbons. We also use concrete for our border. I usually go half way up the brick and feather it our 4 or so inches. Usually 7-10 years down the road when it’s time to re level and restore the brick the concrete is broken up but the brick still hasn’t moved. My question for you is how long do most of your patios last? I usually get 7-10 years and some patios are 10 plus with no maintenance and still look new. Sorry for the long comment
Stanley "Dirt Monkey" Genadek Used Unilock for many years. But the past 3 years I’ve been using Oaks sand. Both seem to work just as good but the Oaks fills wider gaps which is nice for flagstone patios. I don’t like my pavers moving and the little extra cost and work it is to dig a little more seems worth it to me
Stanley "Dirt Monkey" Genadek My local supplier that carries Oaks pavers started stocking it 3-4 years ago. Once I tired it I was happy with it and continued to use it
I’m in the process of doing my backyard here in Georgia and I absolutely love how you are describing so many great ideas like the sand for one and the 2x4 care. Really a great video and thank you for all the details.
Love your videos Stan - longtime follower, though I am a landscape foreman and have used many edge restraints including plastic and aluminum. If you do the concrete one properly on the right sloap with enough cement (which we do) - grass grows perfectly fine and the concrete floats with the patio. the issue with the edge restraint is the galvanized spikes will pop up even if you use 12" spikes. (Canada's heave thaw is nasty)
In Ohio the polymeric sand will do exactly what you were saying. It creates a real problem with keeping a paver system looking good and removal to re-sand takes not only a pressure washing but scraping as well. To lay a layer of new sand and running a light compactor again fixes things good as new. 👍👍
