I still can't believe Arizona still only allows tandem single trailers. We use 12 axle double trailer belly dumps hauling around 45 tons for both paving and milling, generally load with milling unload at the hot plant then load with asphalt and just keep making the circle loaded both directions.

Have you ever thought of doing more content asphalt content? For example like Milling, asphalt paving, sealcoating, slurry seal, and chip sealing? You’re in a great state for all types of asphalt content. If you ever go to do more Asphalt content, you should check Weems Asphalt in Phoenix and check out their sealcoating, slurry seal, and paving. If you’re able to get in contact with them, you won’t be disappointed. Love your videos man. Wanna see more asphalt content!!

I work on a paving crew in KY. This is a lot different than how we do it. We typically use a shuttle buggy on bigger jobs, trucks dump into the buggy and the buggy puts it into the paver. Shuttle buggy usually holds about two truck loads and it’s typically non stop paving.

Superb video production and presentation! Loved the transitions early on which fit with the busy road / constant traffic flow. Great music and delivery... Such a good watch and really educational. I do wonder how the joins between lanes are addressed / if there needs to be some overlap when milling a second lane, but I don't think you got to see that stage.

Can't believe they couldn't set up or rent a batch plant closer to this job especially when there is 3 different asphalt plants around in that area. Lake Pleasant is easily 2 1/2 + hours round trip from this job on a good day.
@vcramer5587
@vcramer5587 Год назад
This is a job bidding process. ADOT puts out a list of projects that any licensed company can bid on. Sunland is a part owner of this hot plant by lake pleasant. That is why they don't rent someone else's hot plant. Although there are mobile hot plants they are not easy to move. All aggregates must meet specifications for good asphalt plants. They are also very expensive to move around and set up with permits within the state.

Interesting… in Michigan we do the same thing but we just have big live bottom trailers that back into the paver. Why do they choose to dump it on the ground then load it into the paver?
@clydeacor1911
@clydeacor1911 2 года назад
Because if the paver stops it makes a bump in the new road and the quality of the paving isn't as good. He explained it in the video. We pave using belly dumps that are truck and double trailers with 12 axles and haul around 45 tons of asphalt product in Idaho, Utah and Nevada.

Lol at drooping the speed from 65 to 45mph for "safety" No lateral safety zones, cars still doing 70km/h, of someone steps to the live lane he's dead. really different from how we do it in NZ or Australia
