Pavullo nel Frignano (MO) has a 19th-century historic center conceived and desired by the last Dukes of Modena. Duke Francesco IV (1815-1846) chose Pavullo as his summer residence, having the Ducal Palace (1830-1844) built there and the adjoining park full of exotic plants such as the majestic cedar of Lebanon known as "Pinone." It now houses the Contemporary Art Galleries, the tourist information office and the Library. In the square in front, the bust of General Raimondo Montecuccoli, by Graziosi (1909).
Montecuccolo Castle, with its adjoining medieval village, stands in the village of the same name (873 m above sea level) about 3 km from the center of Pavullo and houses art collections by Pavullo artists and the Frignano Nature Museum.
South of the capital, in the area called the Pavullo plains, is the Paolucci Airport, base of the 118 and where gliding is practiced.
