I think just to be honest and a upstanding business when stuff like this happens they should contact seller and give them something for the misunderstanding. Bicycle sale. it's the way I'd roll especially since an Expert wasn't called in which seams to be standard practice anymore
She didnt value it which I cant fathom especially it being her ww2 vet grandfathers so she deserved to get hosed and now itll be appreciated in a museum
@@HotBrass-Lead The patches can sell for $6500. The patches are on a jacket. You have to remove the patches and then individually sell them and also keep track of them and store them before you can get the opportunity to make the sale. You have no clue what economics are and think they're going to find a buyer the next week who'll buy it for $6500 as is, when that's clearly not the case. $3000 for a few dozen items that can take years to sell is a fair price.
Yet again if it was chumlee's money he would not be doing that that's not the way you do business in a pawn shop he would be out of business quicker than crap 😕
That's because you're not a gambling addict that spent his life savings in Vegas casinos. At least that's why I assume these lowlives are selling their family heirlooms.
Some people don't look at things in a sentimental way. My brother in law is like that. For instance, I have my grandfather's pocket watch. I wouldn't sell it because it was my grandfather's pocket watch and it means more to me than whatever it's worth, but if it were my brother in law and his grandfather had given him his pocket watch, he'd look at it and say "That's a nice watch. Bet I can get $100 for it."
I hear ya. My uncle fought in WW2. He collected a few coins from every country they liberated, and a bullet. Why a bullet, no idea. Before he passed he gave all this to me, plus a few other things including his uniform and helmet. Same as you, I cant imagine ever getting rid of any of it.
The sword guy was the best one. Didn’t get angry at the appraisal, accepted it and agreed with it, didn’t get upset by the lowball and admitted they were too far apart so didn’t waste his time by an offer. Even after he admitted Mark was right. I wish more customers would be like this
Customer: "I have the original Constitution signed by George Washington himself." Rick: "Best I can do is Chumlee signing an empty Pop Tart wrapper and I am taking all the risk."
That girl's grandpa is furious at Rick for low balling his grand daughter. There used to be a time when Rick would sometime offer more that the customer was asking when he was still honest.
That's why you research. Found a HP 28s calculator, from high school. I was gonna sell it at a yard sale, till I looked it up. Ain't worth a whole lot, but more than I was planning. Needless to say, I still have it. She screwed herself.
Because maybe they're not interested in collecting whatever their grandfather was into and would rather get some cash out and let someone else enjoy it of it rather than have it setting around and collecting dust? Just a thought.
It has always bothered me that Rick can't say "cavalry." The "expert" said it, too. Must be a Vegas thing. CALVARY is the site where Jesus Christ was crucified. CAVALRY is a mounted military unit. 1st Cavalry is called "1st Cav" not "1st Cal."
She could have mentioned it was her grandfathers and she was selling it to make money for college. I think Rick would have come up to $750.00 without even knowing the value. Too bad the expert wasn’t first. $ 1,500 easily. Chumley would have given her $500 for date with her
Watching Rick negotiating throughout the years, I actually think he is a clever sneaky fella lol. He pretends to go really low to force them to bring the price down. He technically hardly ever gets a bad deal. He is always winning.
Yeah that’s low balling. Asking their price, and then asking for a ridiculously low price and then the owner drops the price they initially started with
This dude rick really gotta exhale hard every time someone makes him a half decent offer? Mans like a do it all gamestop. $1000? Ill give you $17 bucks for it
Customer: "I have the original Constitution signed by George Washington himself." Rick: "Best I can do is Chumlee signing an empty Pop Tart wrapper and I am taking all the risk."
Rick screwed that girl over on the WWII bike. He didn't pay her $500 because he didn't know what is was worth. That dude knows something about everything, he knew he was going to be getting more money than he acted like. She got 1/10th of it's value. He should at least send her another $500 to try to make it right, that's the least he could do. It's her grandpas WWII bike, and she's trying to pay for college, and Rick steals the bike from her for $500.
Jeep (just enough essential parts) Was invented for the farmers to take it on the roads Needed just enough essential parts to make them legal Then of course the military loved them
The Norden bombsight had nothing like the accuracy his expert claimed. "The actual performance of the Norden in combat was good some of the time, but rarely great, and often terrible. Several studies revealed that as few as 5 percent of Eighth Air Force bombs fell within 1,000 feet of the target and the average error for 500-pound bombs dropped in Europe was a whopping 1,673 feet. There are examples of many hundreds of bombs aimed at a single small target with only one or two bombs reaching their mark. Some gross errors were even measured in miles." -
@@phil__K And in the end, they admitted that implicitly by going with carpet bombing German cities. No bombsites required. "We are over Dresden now." "Bombs Away!"
No, she should have done her research, no free undeserved woman compassion points. It was in her interest to research before attempting to make a deal.
They get advertising for there stores and publicity as well. There found buy the t.v. makers. Rick really isn't there friends like they try to make it seem.
The Sherman Tank is Awesome! When he said that Rick could shoot it, I was expecting it to shoot some kind of blanks. I didn't have any idea you could own one that is still intact. That is so cool!
They always say that they're going to lose money, it may take a while to sell it, etc. They never say that they can take any loses off their federal taxes!
Rick in the future: Area 51: we won't take less than 3 million for this alien corpse. Rick: I can't go more than 1 million..i am taking the risk here what if he woke up..🤣🤣
Rick: “‘I really want to buy this tank but I don’t have $1.5M to pay you with. Thanks for letting me drive it and shoot your expensive ammo and wasting your time!…..later”
The GP for the jeep was not for general purpose. The G stood for government and the P was the wheelbase code. That was how the vehicle was classified on the drawing board. A government contract vehicle with a 75” wheelbase (P). GP.
her poor grandpa....Lugged that thing around over seas so he could spend a bunch to ship it back. Took AMAZING care of it for like 60-70 years, left it to her, probably told her it was special.....Sorry Papa....At least someone will buy who it will appreciate it again
Sellers must do their own research before bringing an item to the pawn shop. Libraries and online resources are so readily available. Selling the military bicycle without having researched it's value is on the seller. This was a fair transaction because no one prevented the seller from doing her research. Laziness is always costly.
it's very quickly going to go back to only the rich can afford education and as far as I'm concerned that's better than being a crap ton of money in debt just to work at McDonald's anyway. see ya in 40 years when kids are learning trades to get by and ask you "grandpa what was school like?" it'll be over soon my friend, one way or another
"My grandfather parachuted into Normandy on D-Day, lost his leg for our country, and left his prized possession to our family to remember his sacrifice. I would like to sell it for a fraction of its value to pay for a semester of college that I will I drop out of after getting knocked up and spend the rest of my life as a stay-at-home mom."
When she said 350 and saw the 82nd and 101st patch and the rest. And Chumlee said he wanted to bring an expert I was like Chumlee noooo. 350 was practically a steal!
One day in jr high there was a career day and the military came and brought a Sherman tank. Was so cool but the tank tore up the pavement where the busses drove to drop us off for school. Was AMAZING and funny. Made me join JROTC in HS this was in 1995
I knew immediately when he said he wanted 10,000 but he’ll go down to 4000 that Rick was going to offer him 2000. You don’t tell the producers how much lower you’re willing to go because you’re going to get half that at best.
