Yea, if Rick caves that fast then it's because he know that he can sell it for more money. I was actually shocked that he didn't do his famous "this item is going to sit for a while because I have to find a specific audience, and with the auction fees I will barely make any money on it if I go to $9,500". He probably already have a few buyers in mind, or like the other comment said, he probably held on to it until the episode aired and then let the museums call him.

Usually the store tries to get something they want at about 50-60% the appraised value, but he was happy to start and buy higher than that since this is only going to go up in value over time, unless someone has a box full of these exact documents with his signature.
