I wanted an extended episode just so I could know what was in the letter, who it was written by, who it was sent to, and who they were in society at that day in age.

The answer highly likely to be it was it was a novelty/side-show prop. Apparently people that ran traveling museums and such back in the early 20th century used to cobble these together with real antiques they got from god knows where so the items themselves are effectively authentic but the kit itself is a forgery.

i watched this episode , it was signed by Arthur Conan Doyle , they thought it was a gift to Mary Shelley....the expert who said he couldn't make out the signature ( yeah right ) said if they could prove it , it was worth a fortune
Even tho his initial offer was 6k it would be stupid to sell knowing its worth around 25k and you could get that online or at a auction of some sorts. He could always get that information and just walk out
