This is CRAZY how a 6month video you created is my situation right now!! I get paid weekly and I'm a mom of two little girls. I was looking at a rental for 1200$ and was asking God how do I budget for this 1200$ when my weekly pay checks will not cover it unless I'm doing OT regularly but I dont want to depend on OT to pay may bills, because if I dont have a sitter I can't always do the OT hours.Thank you so much for this I'm in tears right now. Keep me lifted in prayer. I can do this💪🏾A budget is the best way to go🤗I have to be better with my money for my girls, they deserve it!!!!
I actually agree with using manual methods because I’m visual as well and I like to write things out. Technology just doesn’t work for me in some areas...ironic because I’m an IT professional. I really enjoy your videos and the passion you have for sharing information. Thank you!
This was so helpful because I divide my bills in half each biweekly pay period. For example for mortgage I set aside $600 each pay so on the first I pay $1200. All of my bills, cash envelopes, and savings are done this way. Each pay the same amount is designated each time for each category. It's easier for me to track this way. I've been doing this for about 10 years. It works. Monthly budgeting doesn't work for me but by paycheck does! Thank you.
I've been watching you for 2 weeks now and after the first video I watched it was like the penny finally dropped with budgeting I've tried Dave Ramsey for nearly 15 mths and got nowhere so thank you xx
I am so glad I found this channel. I lost hope with the Dave Ramsey method. It became way to restrictive for us and if we did something that wasnt in his plan we felt like we did something wrong. Lol almost like kids waiting to get in trouble. We just needed a new way is all
Yes! I was just getting tired of having everyone (his Facebook page) crucify me whenever I would post. Or the high and mighty judgmental ones. I love the Budget Mom! As well as Pennies to Wealth on Instagram. Zero judgment zone. 💕😊
I almost started to cry you are so right. I notice when I do my planner the same way. When I write it things change. I just ordered your kit. I am so excited.
I like visuals as well! IMO If a person has to pay a large expense over several pay cycles they may have to pull from a savings fund the first time to ensure the rent or mortgage is paid by the due date. Then follow the distribution method your suggesting. I’ve recently started baby step 2, I’ve had to manipulate funds from savings then I pay myself back. Budgeting “return” to savings so I remember I don’t have a mysterious windfall of cash to splurge! Great inspiring video.
I set my binder up before this most recent paycheck on the 15th. I got envelopes and I pulled money out for my girls hair appointment my hair appointment tutoring my pocket money and I could almost cry at how much more organized I was also the sheet that you have in the binder about subscriptions I realized that my subscriptions would be the thing that would always take me into the negative so now I have all my subscription amounts the dates that they come out and which account they come out in one spot and I am so thankful girl you just don't know so thankful!!!!!
You are so inspiring. I found you in December and I’m currently starting my budget journey. I also started the Dave Ramsey method but gave up. I found it very restrictive and not at all motivational. Glad I found you and think your method will help me out a lot. Thank you!!
First paycheck using the envelope system hopefully I will get adjusted to it in a few paychecks. Putting aside some money for larger bills is a good idea! I'm going to start that in February!
This was my first paycheck doing the cash envelope system also!! what did you think? actually kind of found myself being relieved that I had money for everything that I wanted to pay for already separated and pulled out of my account and I felt organized and I didn't feel nervous that my account was going to go into the negative I still feel like I have to adjust some things like I don't think I put enough money to the side for gas for instance. but I'm curious to see how other people who are just starting their budgeting journey is doing.
@@trblessed1020 I am not sure yet. It does help to have only Bill's in my account and the rest on hand bc I don't have to worry as much. I literally just started at 1.18.19 paycheck so I'm not quite sure. But it did make me happy when I put in 30 for gas and got 7 back lol 🤣
@@MyTran-uu5rq lol I know exactly what you mean!! I just started on the 15th and I was so happy when I filled up and it was like 39 instead of 50 something. The envelopes takes some getting used to but I have to admit when I'm not just swiping my card it makes me waaaaaaaaay more thoughtful
@@trblessed1020 first paycheck doing the envelope stuffing. I have enough for my next oil change saved up for next next but I still have to tweak the gas and groceries. I have more money to put in my sinking funds than I thought. I knew first time doing this wouldn't be a breeze and it needs some getting use to but at least I can worry less!
This simple budgeting step was a huge game changer for us!! Selling our home to get out of debt was just the beginning! We had to COMPLETELY redo our budgeting, as renters for the 1st time in TEN years!!! That's when I found TheBudgetMom! We now have auto-transfers into our RENT account WEEKLY when we are paid. My husband is now paid weekly (previously monthly). My daughter and I are paid biweekly (opposite weeks). We always have our Rent and utility money early by carrying over those delegated funds! 😍👍
Love your channel. I use this method for mine and my boyfriends income to know where our money is going to for the week! 💙 love the way you explain things! Keep doing what you’re doing because you’re helping a lot of people!
I agree with writing things down compared to using an app. I tried different budgeting apps last year and each of them failed because like you i am a visual person. Now i just write and plan using my planner and so far so good. 😊
What a fabulous plan. I love it. My paycheck is not enough to cover my rent. This plan is fabulous and it will definitely work for me as I will be able to manage my leftover income for other bills etc. thank you so much
This example is exactly how I budget my part of the mortgage. I have to pay $800 a month so with my paycheck I set aside $200 each Friday so that by the next month I will have the full amount. I transfer the money electronically to another savings account so the money is out of sight lol. I do this with my car payment as well and my health insurance. Last year I even did with my car taxes and set aside $36 for four weeks and was able to pay it in full when it was due. It’s such an organized process and less stress and anxiety! I don’t do the highlighter method but the results are the same.
Alisha Jennings not a bad idea. Maybe I can try something like that as well. I found DR method very restrictive and overwhelming. I can certainly try to mix the 2.
I love Dave Ramsey he was the one who inspired me to get my life together in the first place with budgeting and the desire to become debt free. I just prefer the paycheck to paycheck budgeting system. I tried every dollar and I just couldn't get it to work properly for me but I love this method. However I also have an Excel sheet because I like to write everything down but I also like to have everything organized so that I can look back on it and have it saved as opposed to having a lot of paper year after year
@@trblessed1020 . Same here. I follow his plan but budget her way because it makes sense to me. I tried the every dollar app as well and I was all over the place. Also Dave plan is visual as well
@@tahannac.286 Yeah I 100% agree I really do enjoy Dave's motivation I enjoy his show. And I will always credit him with being the one to make me want to be debt-free and make me feel like I could actually do this. But as far as execution I have to give it to the budget mom. her way makes so much sense to me and I kid you not I was overwhelmed when I tried to understand what she was doing but I signed up for her7 days of emails it was like a boot camp and it really just help me to get organized and then I finally bought her binder and it was extremely helpful
I agree completely with using apps. Our budget is wrote down by hand every month. We pay our rent bill online and it's reported to the credit bureau. We have to pay a fee in order to do that. That's almost $29 extra a month that we pay. We are currently looking for a house to buy. We are still keeping that amount as a bill even have we buy. That way it's an extra amount that will go to the mortgage
*New subscriber here* .. I have been struggling with budgeting since I haven't found a method that actually works for me (I even follow different youtube channels and nothing).. I am so excited to give this a try... Where can I get this printable?
This video was exactly what I was looking for!! Just one question :) Do you fill out the actual column on the bill tracker as the amount you actually paid ($1200) or just the actual amount from that particular pay check (in this example $150)? Thank you so much!!
A long time ago, I started something similar, and yes you do need some extra money. I used a bonus I got, however if you got a tax refund, you could use that or save a little extra over time.
