Payday 3 is a year old today. It's been a long journey to get here. Is it so over, or are we back?

The biggest thing, imo, that’s exciting about year 2 payday 3 is that mio is no longer director and it’s back to almir.

I agree so much, that the future of Payday 3 is uncertain. I still see multiple people boycotting Starbreeze ever since the game's launch. There are even those, that still want Payday 3 to be Payday 2, but with updated engine and graphics, or those who no longer want to hear about Payday, or interact with it at all. Currently Steam charts show that there are 2,7 thousand players at 24 hour peak, but it's probably due to the sale the game's currently on. Will it stay up after it ends next week? Also, it's just Steam players. We don't know exact counts for Epic Games, Xbox and Playstation players. Honestly, you can hate me for this or anything, but I believe, that the future of the game will now also be decided by the people - if the player count grows up, then maybe Payday 3 will continue to live, if not, Starbreeze can just shut it down or sell the IP to someone else, so they can take care of it instead.

i can guarantee most of the boycott is due to the constant shooting themselves in the foot with post launch shenanigans like THE GAME DIRECTOR, almirs rant, dlc prices, and the talk of making what was said to be free dlc becoming paid dlc, id be a betting man and say if starbreeze hadn't done any of this the reception would be on the better side
@JaNieWie
@JaNieWie День назад
@@saunshilu I guess I can agree on that. Payday IP under Starbreeze's ownership feels like a ticking time bomb, that can explode at any moment. Either they let it explode, take care of it themselves, or leave it to someone else.

@@saunshilu And it's not only about Payday 3. The constant shooting themselves in the foot and screwing over the community has been going on since Payday 2 and Overkill didn't change a single bit in that regard.

I think it's pretty disappointing that it took us a whole year for us to get to a point where we feel as though Payday 3 is a FULL game worth the price tag. It took us a year of bad decisions, controversy, rectifying wrongs, staff changes, and 4 whole DLC's to get us here. I love Payday 3, but dear God it did not have to be like this. Let's hope that Year 2 is a step in the right direction for this game.

Not even a full game tbf, we still don't have a functioning server browser and offline mode. +2 DLCs out of 4 are lackluster.

I got the Gold edition this current sale for ~25 dollars. Even with all the dlcs, it gives the impression that this is how the game should had released. At this price I'm satisfied but I do wonder how they even released the game with barely any content for 100 bucks

I've started playing payday 3 a couple days ago with my friend. The biggest problem we see is small amount of heists (obviously) and small amount of guns for low levels.
@ninochaosdrache3189

I will only purchase the game when they implement the offline mode. Because Overkill will fuck up again and with an offline mode, you can reverse updates or counter the impact they have with mods.

I believe they are doing better and I feel like having almir listo as ceo is going to be a good change to the game but they need to be over the top with new heist like in payday 2 and add that replayability every time I log on to the game now I immediately log off because I don't just feel like doing the same thing with not even the smallest changes

Honestly I think Payday 3 is more of a casual playstyle compared to Payday 2; it's less complicated and convoluted to figure things out, the graphics are modern, and the movement system is also modern, so people who haven't played a Payday before can actually get into it like my friend, who was detested by Payday 2's dated visuals and movement.

Too bad they haven't adressed the actual biggest problem with the game....replayability. While all the new stuff is cool, I still can't find any reasons to play this game. You try the new heist once or twice and you leave for another 2+ months. Heists still don't have any significant RNG, additional loot, after heist drop system is really bad, they haven't even bothered adding a single achievement the entire year.

@A6GYT i mean, idk how im letting myself get swayed by peoples opinions. The one constant criticism i hear about payday 3 DLC heist and the heist in general is the lack of RNG. I clocked in 121 hours in payday 3 when it first launched, and through the month of October of 2023 i noticed the lack of RNG on those base game heist instantly. The fact that even know i still hear the criticism from both payday youtubers and random payday players from the community (who are probably playing the game more then me) about the complete lack of RNG on DLC heist is just not making come back. Its not an opinion that payday 3 heist lack RNG its a fact and thats one of the biggest things keeping me from coming back and i own the gold edition of the game.

The game feels much better than before, but still has ways to go. The sales and recent updates have definitely created a noticeable recovery in comparison to this spring but it's still not fully there yet. My main problem areas to highlight right now _(besides what the developers have addressed for the future, like Armor 2.0, the UI, and finishing the Modifiers system)_ within the game are: *Heist replayability:* Heists have relatively little RNG variation and some irritating mechanics like wifi circles are driving players away from playing a wide spread of the existing heists *The skills system:* A significant amount of the skills are still useless in comparison to others, and the system as a whole limits the devs' design space too much in being able to design interesting abilities that allow players to carve out their own style. Everyone still has a very similar playstyle and constantly juggling Edge/Goon/Rizz is rotting my brain *Weapon stats/modification:* Weapon mods hardly matter and the bars displaying weapon stats are still awful. Payday 2's weapon modding was the one thing that, even on launchday, was ahead of its time and drew a lot of eyes to the game. 3's modding doesn't need to be industry standard, but it should be more than a vestigial extra *Weapon balance:* A lot of guns still feel useless or horribly overpowered in comparison to others, it's immediately apparent even on a very casual level that the later weapon unlocks are objectively much stronger than the earlier ones *Ammo economy:* Getting to a state where you'll never run out of ammo requires no investment into ammo related skills. Ammo skills were also quite unnecessary in 2, but it's even worse now in 3, especially with how our reserve ammo has been nearly doubled *Hostage trading:* The amount of consumables you can get on Rock the Cradle or Gold & Sharke is truly ludicrous and will make you pretty much immortal *Cop intelligence/behaviour:* Police still feel just as reliant on spawning right on top of you as a horde in order to kill you as they did in 2, while I'm not asking for a full tactical shooter overhaul, I think it's worth revisiting and rethinking more aspects of them. Eg. Police don't really make an effort to lock down areas or surround spots that would make sense. if mid heist you run outside the building to where the police cars are, you'd expect a few first responders sticking around, but will instead usually find the place deserted Fixing these things will be great, but I also hope SBZ can execute a solid action plan in getting the message out that Payday 3 is getting better, so the game's playerbase can recover alongside the game itself

Him not disclosing that he's a Starbreeze partner (read: shill), while making these comments is shitty.

It's public knowledge who Starbreeze partners are and John has mentioned it plenty of times. There's no need to go over it in absolutely every single video. Also, calling the partners "shills" at all is laughable, they have made plenty of negative content about 3 and several personally called for the game director position to change. Sure, many of them had an overall positive opinion of the beta, but so did the majority of the community and public at large
@RustyChains
@RustyChains День назад
I appreciate that feedback. I thought it was common fairly common knowledge among people who would find this channel that we're SB partners, since we're a pretty small channel and people often don't see our content without being directed. I will disclose it in every Payday video going forward, since it appears necessary. That said, I don't think it's fair to call me a shill. Even a moment of looking at the channel would show that I'm negative about Payday 3 quite often and even August alone I uploaded almost 40 minutes of content about how poor the decision making and leadership for Payday 3 was. I even publicly campaigned, on this channel, for the game director to step down. I don't believe those are things that a shill would do

@@ninochaosdrache3189 Someone who's getting inedible food. Payday doing badly is a bad thing for their channels too, hence a lot of PD3's negative coverage. The interest created by the Partner relationship has made them _more_ negative about PD3 The people in games media who are *actually* untrustworthy don't make their relationships with a corporation official, they get free swag/expenses paid for experiences in relation to new releases, then make bootlicking content in the hope of getting more of it. The key here is that *the content people produce* is what outs them as trustworthy or not, not junk speculation like this
