You may not have realized this, but...MOST people do not say "it's not WORTH it" because of performance alone. People say "it's not WORTH it" because of performance / cost. A 40-50% increase in performance is NOT worth a 80-120% price premium.

The 4090 is the only one from Nvidia that makes sense yes it is expensive but it's the fastest by far and it's only $100 more than it's predecessor

The 4080 is underrated. I run a lot of games with RT on and Ultra settings at over 100 fps. Some games even over 200

The 4090 isn't really targeted for gamers, it's for enthusiasts. Beyond enthusiasts, its usage cases are powerful cards for local AI models and creators. For 1440P, the 3090 is still more than adequate for any game. For 4K, the 4090 is usually overkill for many titles and the 3090 would've done the job. I'll just wait for an enthusiast to dump their deeply discounted 4090 or 4080 when the 50 series is released and hear this argument again in 3 years.

This is the reason why I bought the 4090 from having the 2070 super. My mates were looking at me like I was a madman. Even the pc builder at the shop told me I'd be better off with 3090 since it's only my 2nd pc. I told them "I want it , I can afford it, so I want the best. And if you ask me again if that's really what I want I'd go somewhere else". I made the right choice it seems😁

It is absolutely categorically not worth the price they're asking for it. It can barely keep above 60fps in cyberpunk with RTX at 4k that's the most expensive card on the market by far its not even close to costing like the bleeding 4080 original which is also ludicrously overpriced.

fun fact, i recently upgraded to a 4090 with an 13900k, this thing is a beast, i dont play in 4k, i mainly got it for render loads, (i know its meant for 4k gaming) things like overwatch get 600fps all max graphics under half gpu load lmfao

About to build my very first PC here in a couple of weeks and everyone keeps telling me the 4080 isn’t worth it… I’m getting really sick and tired of it.

The only cards worth it are the 4080 and 4090. The rest are jokes. I’ll keep my 3090 until something better comes along at a good price.

The only reason I'm considering replacing my 3080Ti with a new 40 series is because of less power consumption. I don't game I edit videos (DaVinci).

ITS NOT WORTH THE 1K PRICE DIFFERENCE WITH THE 4080. Its only worth it if you want the best and have the money for it. Most of my customer want to stay under the 2k pricetag which makes the 4090 out of budget. Most of my customer ask "is the 1k extra worth ?" And they ignore the fact that they need peripheral etc.. so yeah only worth if you have the money

Thank you, so is it worth upgrading from RTX 2060 Super to RTX 4080 for DCS? I am having lots of performance issues, meaning drops in FPS, (from 25 down to even 5 FPS temporarily on complex missions and 60 FPS on small missions). I have i9-9900 and M.2 NVME of 1TB. 32GB RAM.

Nvidia is jacking up prices. Thats why you shouldn't buy a 40 series. Or a 30 series either. They both are not worth it. These greedy companies overproduced cards for crypto miners and now they are artificially limiting the 40 series stock to artificially bloat prices. Don't buy into it. Either buy a used card or wait for rdna3. (New amd cards) telling people to buy the newest and more expensive gpu will just encourage nvidia to keep rasing prices year after year. A 2x increase in performance should not be a 2x increase in price. Thats not innovation. Innovation is getting more for less.

Most of the comment section is brain dead. The reason people say that the 4090 isn’t worth it is because it’s literally $1600 in the US, in some places it can reach $2000. The 4090 definitely is the most powerful GPU on the market without a doubt, but it just doesn’t make sense for the average user. Most people don’t need that much power and therefore it’s the obvious decision to avoid it. As for the 4080, it’s a phenomenal card, especially in ray tracing. But the problem is that it’s severely overpriced, the MSRP of $1200 is just way above some of the competing cards such as the 7900 XTX from AMD which is $200 cheaper while providing similar performance in most games. The only downsides are the insane power consumption, underwhelming ray tracing performance, and not being able to support DLSS along with FSR. For the average person, most of those things are undermined by the bigger factors such as price, value, and more. How do you guys not understand that most people don’t require such a powerful GPU? If you want to buy a 4090 or 4080, go ahead. But especially the 4080 doesn’t have good value at all. Once again, the 4090 is so ludicrous that it’s beyond the needs of the average person which makes it a bad idea to purchase, don’t get me wrong, it is good value but it doesn’t matter if it’s good value when you can’t afford it. On Nvida, the sweet spot for WORTH it right now is a 4070 Super (or possibly the 4070 Ti super if the 12Gb VRam issue bothers you)

Those of you who have the budget for the 40 series should not forget to invest equally in the cpu, ram and motherboard. Otherwise you have an expensive card that is not reaching its potential.

I’ve been debating on what to get for a long time. I think I’ve finally made my decision, I’m either getting a 3090 for 650 flat, or a 4070 ti for 900 (including tax) more than positive I’m gonna go for the 3090 lol.

My advice to those still gaming on 1080p: Don't ever ever upgrade from 1080p. Cos once you go up to 1440p or 4K, you'd be very reluctant to downgrade back to 1080p. But with gaming at higher resolutions, you're going to need a more powerful GPU to keep up, and if you also like the seeing your games in all their RT and PT glory, then it's going to cost you. If you're on 1080p though, even with those bells and whistles, a mid-range GPU like a RTX 4070 Super for example, is likely enough and you won't have to worry about selling a kidney or melting connectors.

Neither the 3090 nor the 4090 series were worth the price premium. 70 and 80 series, still overpriced but decent. Recommend those. Unfortunately, the 60 series is just nVidia ripping people off. WAY overpriced for entry level.

There is nothing worth it about a $2000 gpu that performs 30% better than a $1000. And things get even worse, when you realize the $1000gpu is not even worth its price.

I just built a new PC with a 4090, but did research before buying the parts and I read post after post from people trying to convince people to not buy a 4090. I became convinced that they were poor people who were jealous for not having a 4090 and didn't want anyone else to have one. I am on disability due to an accident, and I made wise financial decisions so I could own a 4090.

I bought ROG Strix 4090 OC. Superposition I did get the highest score above me was some unknown 4090 and above that LN2 card. So it's super fast. But in terms of if it its worth it. I bought it even kinda cheap, 1600€ from (2200€). The thing is, I had an MSI Lighting Z 2080Ti, an extraordinary card if you RU-vid it. And if you play Starfield, cyberpunk in 4K, it gets you around 25-40fps with the highest settings (not psycho in cyberpunk, but ultra yes). With 4090, you get 40-60 with all maxed out. The thing is that, yes, my PC monitor is 60hz, but my OLED TV is 100-120hz. So 4090 isn't really going into those in 4K. And now…its a somewhat old card. 5xxx series will come, and here is the catch. I had the fastest 2080ti that cost back them $1800+ one of the most expensive, generally 7-13% faster than 2080ti. Once 3070ti came out it was on par. 2080ti dropped into $400 card. There isnt really futureproofing into this. Future-proofing is valid only with raw power. If there are new features involved, futureproofing doesn't exist. Sadly, 4090 doesn't get you full raytracing 120hz 4K. 5090 maybe will get you 80, maybe 100. 4090 and $1600 card will again will cost $400 since we can assume nVidia is doing this on purpose. Next 5070 or 5080 will be destroying 4090. And they will be cheaper with some nifty feaure. There will be again 5090 crazy only one that gives 80-90 4K raytracing. And the circle starts again. Truth is. It's not about the card or its power, or even fps per dollar. Its about what you do with the card and for how long. What are you playing in what resolution, for how long. Or you are playing one game for 2 hours max details and the rest of the time you dont have a time to play maybe just web browsing? So card just sitting there? Or you are using that for commercial work and time saved its worth it? Maybe you will render something faster its time difference worth it price difference over time? Or you just thing that you are saving time but its not flipped into real earnings. Also maybe 3080 is enough. How much did you saved and you can buy something else? New phone that you have everytime with you and using. Prespecitve is the most important thing. NVidia isnt creating these cards for gamers really there is business model how to take money be market leader, give peeople somthing to be desired for. Mybe buy 3080 now and wait for 5090? Or buy 4090 and wait for 6090 next time? Its all about what alese you can do with money. I dont thing i bought bad card. But in terms where I was with ligthing Z 2080ti(it was biggest card at time so rog strix 4090 oc doesnt seem that big really just thumb longer) but my “gaming” experience didnt changed really. Starfield still max details just 20-30fps faster. Cyberpunk yes you can play on psycho but thats 30-40 fps similiar experience with ~30fps on ultra with 2080ti. If 4090 would be 120fps cyberpunk 4K on ultra i would be 100% for. But it isnt. There is sheer power, but not enough power truly. And it is year old. RTX 4xxx S series are to be released, filling gap between 4090. Just to swqueeze more money from those who dont have money for 4090. And slowly prepare path to 5xxx to make 4090 piece of crap in eyes of those hight tech rich people or those who saved and bought it. Because thats the target audiance, when 5090 will come 4090 despite it will be still good card will be worthless in eyes of those people and they jump for 5090 for extreme price. And this how nVidia taking money making hype thing wow for a year maybe two and make it “crap” next. I am kinda 65% happy with 4090 but maybe i could buy some super expensive camera lens, best iPhone or i dont know something. That i would utilize more every day? Not worth it when your power cable melts and melts the connectors on the GPU.

I stream with a 3090, I use Nvidia Broadcast for the AI greenscreen effect, and I use Nvenc as my encoder at 1080p 60fps. All works great, I average while streaming around 180 fps or more in Apex Legends. This idea that you "have to have the 4090!" is just wrong. I don't see myself upgrading unless there's a huge leap from the 3090 to a RTX 5XXX series card. Either way what CPU you have, how much RAM, etc all depends on if you should get a 4090 or not? Don't have a 240Hz + monitor? Why you need a 4090 unless you're going to buy one. There's a lot more factors that go into it other than what's said on this video.

It’s not worth it 😂. In Australia this card is $1000 USD more than a 4080.. unless your playing games in 4k don’t even bother considering it. In a year it will be $800 cheaper if they actually managed to make any faster cards.

The trick is that the red camp shows itself well in only 3 things. Games where you need a lot of memory or a bus and 265 codec. They are losing heavily to the greens in terms of technology and work tasks. Cuda kernels also contribute. What makes the greens feel great in a blender, mathematical processing and when using a frame generator with RT. My advice. If you only need a computer for games and entertainment, take 7900xtx nitro+ or Tachi. Or 7800xt. They will show themselves perfectly in 2k, and the first one will be able to even in 4k resolution. Don't worry about the rays, they only work adequately in 5 games

I can play multiple games at the same time with ultra 4k settings and ray tracing. I couldn’t make it lag if I wanted to.

If you take 4090 then you should also take a 4k monitor with high refresh rate. And if you want the best visuals, you will pick oled. It will take you another $1000-1200. If you are fine with 1440p then 4080/4080S will let you get the avg 90+ FPS in games like cyberpunk and 60+ for the latest gpu melting games like alan wake on ultra with ray tracing and no dlss. So yeah, to get into 4k, you will have to spend at least $4k

Depending on budget, and if you use a 1080p 120hz monitor/tv, Most games at max settings will go above 120hz, so getting 200+ fps will not matter on that display. Reason to see how many frames towards games you either play, or would like to play matter. to find where you should go. If you use your PC to play old school games, it will be overkill.

The 4090 is the most repaired gpu in the last 10 years. Great card that comes with high maintenance and surprisingly short lifespan.

Gaming hardware used to be pure up to the 970 and 1080ti period. Now it is just gross less is more and nickel and diming, and gamers are a pretty desperate bunch. Will come out the pocket for these space heater cards and jacked$up motherboards.
