That's so cool. When I was first learning computer repair at the age of 12, my class partnered with stRUT ( Students Recycling used Technology) and we would fix these machines using all the spare parts we had. Some were really bad with CPU pins smashed into the socket the wrong way. A few times we meticulously straitened the pins and got them to work lol. We saw almost every problem imaginable and fixed them. Now I want an old machine!
I loved playing full throttle, I and my friend played it everyday after school until we completed the game, then did it all again to try get better times. I had forgotten what it was called until you said that name and showed a few clips of the game.
I use a Dell C640 Laptop for Win 98 gaming. Win 98 was supported on the C640, so it has official recovery media, and it has a 32mb radeon graphics internal, as well as P4 processor options. Great little machine, and it packs up into a laptop bag for storage when I'm done. I also have the "PDX Dock" which gives a laptop PCI card slots, and room for another drive, and I have DVD/ZIP 250/Floppy drives, so it's a great all-arounder for Win 98 gaming
I use a Win98/P-III machine (Voodoo5,) a WinXP/AthlonXP Machine, and a custom built 486DX2-66 (AWE32, Roland MT-32 and a Roland Sound Canvas connected to a Roland MPU-IPC-T.) I use normal hard drives in the XP machine, CF cards in the 486 with a CF/IDE converter drive, and an SD card with the Win98 machine with an SD/IDE converter drive. I sometimes build virtual machines with 86box, which lets you add 3dfx cards and all kinds of components as it uses the roms from real motherboards, soundcards, video cards, etc. Every game I have tried works as if it is on a real 286, 386, 486, etc.
I'm only just getting into pc, always been console guy, got all minis all modded, og xbox/360 oneX. Ps2/3/4PRO. don't know much about pc but I think its a i7 306ti and have 3tb? Went a shop with mate and said I got 900 quid buy and let's build lol. GOG, steam, epic, tonnes of games digitally BUT... its making me buy my fave ps4 xbox games too again lol spiderman, doom (all of course) duke many many new/old games even downloaded retroarch for n64 dreamcast saturn etc.
You PC game so you need this information. Buy yourself a 4k monitor or 4k TV. These are the 2 must have apps that are incredible. (Integer Scaler which is free) and (Lossless Scaling which is $4). The 4k display is necessary for this wonderful trick to work. Ok ... say your game is only 720p in windowed mode. Your windows display is set on 3840x2160 aka 4k. When you apply Integer Scaler on the game, it converts to 4k. Meaning you're not rendering 4k at all. Your rendering 720p but playing in 4k. Use my method. Turn on Lossless Scaling first and use any filter but do not scale anything, leave as it. Then you apply Integer Scaler on top of Lossless Scaling. 4k gaming but rendering in 720p. Keep all FPS.
Hey Metal Jesus (ROCKS)! Why don't you make videos of unused footage from episodes like uncut material left over??? Maybe even a bloopers vid just a thought ran cross my mind cuz your recovering and it would make a good amount of vids that you don't have to record in real time??
LOVE these compilation videos SO MUCH! You should do these even after you're recovered! I want more Metal Jesus LONG content, hours long, so I can binge and fall asleep to them :)
@@fastandfurious3173 They don't cause sleep, it's just nice to fall asleep while listening to one of my favorite RU-vidrs ever without having to make a giant playlist. Just pop on a 2 hour video or something and you're golden!
Also a very relaxing calm voice thats consistent in tone and a perfect level of sound not to loud not to quite just perfect to relax and listen to. In my opinion.
I remember paying $125 for an old all-in-one Compaq in 2000 just to play Wing Commander. The guy even installed it and set the batch file up for the executable in Dos. Totally worth it!
@@volvoguy804 i totally get you. When you have a system just for one thing it gets a hole another meaning. It's like you know already what is it for, no need to think about it. Just like pinball tables, only one is all you need.
Great to see the love for Star Control II at 1:13:24! November 2022 is the 30th Anniversary of the game and the original devs are making the true sequel all these years later: The Ur-Quan Masters II! Great taste in PC classics, Metal Jesus! 😉
The only downside the laptop they're hard to upgrade if at all so after a few years it could become obsolete and you have to upgrade again to another expensive laptop where as with the Tower you may be able to go in and change out a few parts and make it current again
I cherish my big box 'Grand Prix Legends' the manual alone is worth purchasing the game for, basically teaches how to race, 1998 playing in PC World for the first time on a Demo machine, golden days. Also i have G-Police, but cannot get it to run on win10 unfortunately, Any help/advice
I really wish you would have included what you thought it would have cost today to make a similar machine. Like your 98 machine what could I expect to spend on it if I was going to make one? Also what was the price on your XP machine for all the parts and stuff included? I'm imagining these aren't very expensive because usually older computers are not but I just want to give an idea of what you spent on these
I got a GoG account also cause they give away free games if I want to spend money on games then I choose valve known as Steam who sells first party games and has millions of games then anyone else I got a windows 98 windows XP windows 7 windows 8 windows 10 pro I say windows 10 is the best it’s the PC I upgrade every 7 years not it’s got the 3090 graphics card installed
I can’t agree more then what Sam said I’m no longer going to play on weak hardware’s ever again if you love these old games then you should then go and ask the publishers to do a remake on these old titles that your talking about if you get enough votes others want to play them then you’ll get a remake just like resident evil 2 remake that was on PS2 GameCube PC Nintendo Wii cause it was loved so much capcom is releasing it next year on PS4 PS5 Xbox series X PC
I know about ALL these games but have only actually played about 30% of them. You had a bit of Moto Racer on the screen at the beginning of the video and I played a lot of that. The faster your computer, the faster your lap times on that game oddly. Thanks for the nostalgia trip!
You reminded me of deus ex. I used to have a copy of the game of the year edition and I lent it to a guy from the neighborhood. He overdosed and at the end of the day I didn't recover that copy.
"House of the dead"-- Sega Cd, "Still Life" series... "Star Craft", "Scratches", Alfred Hitchcock presents-- "In the Cut", Dark Fall the Journal, "The Black Mirror" , "The Black Mirror 2: Reigning Evil", "Alone in the Dark:-- The New Nightmare"... 😁
I have a Pentium III 1ghz machine running a GeForce 4 MX 420 and 512MB of RAM, which works as a nice middleground between DOS/Win9X era games and XP era games, I keep Win98SE installed on one CF card and then if I want to run XP I have it installed on another card. Needless to say, it'll run nearly all games made for 9X near-flawlessly, most DOS games work fine as long as you configure your boot options/bootdisk correctly, and most early XP games work fine though later era XP games from Half-Life 2-onwards or so will struggle, but at that point I can usually get em working on my modern desktop without too much trouble.
Hmm windows XP games the way they were meant to be ran? I have never heard that one before lol.all the old windows XP games I used to play, work perfectly fine on my windows 10 gaming rig with little to no issues.modern day windows does contain most all code from the older version of windows for compatibility reasons.the second biggest strength of gaming on PC is the backwards compatibility.no other system comes close to that catalog windows has to offer.
Hi mjr thought this was a new upload. but its just another fantasic old one.. we all send u best wishes and hope u get back soon. Your fans miss you lots

Anyone remember the gold version release of half life 2? It came out on launch and had to be ordered through steam I don't see anything on eBay when I search for it. It came with a big box, a hat, some mouse pads and posters... Sadly all I have left are the posters. I wish I kept the whole thing
3:45 hey MetalJesus I just came across a FM Towns emulator (TSUGARU), and they're is 4D Sports Driving (aka Stunts) also theyre with new music !!! You should check this !
Big thumbs up for C&C been playing that since probably 95'. My best memory was my dad buying the c&c domination pack with red alert and expansions and playing skirmish with my dad and friends over two phone lines in our house before Lan times. Also, love that you worked for Sierra and used to play Colonel's bequest and share tips with a bunch of office ladies who worked with my parents and the incredible machine. Hugo's house of horrors was great too like king's quest and leisure suit Larry. Excellent video Metal Jesus, it brought back some memories!
I have also that same Microsoft keyboard. I built and used Windows 98 machine to play Baldur's Gate. Final Fantasy VIII as PC version looks so rare. SSI Gold boxes bring back a lot of memories. Load game with Commodore 64 and go to make coffee.
I game on pc a little bit now days. Ive always been a console guy. Have been for 30 years. But for some reason I find your pc game videos so interesting to watch. Awesome content as always.
This is such an epic video! Always wanted to play these games but my family windows 98 never could, my mom wasted so much money at Office Max & Toy R us on PC games that never could install! Loved learning/seeing these games.
Nothing's better than making some dinner and sharing my phone screen to my 43 inch Samsung TV just to watch some awesome Metal Jesus Rocks collections + showcases. Every video is such a pleasure to watch, nostalgic, always great vibes, and always ends off with a smile on my face!! Appreciate the hard work and dedication throughout the years as I'll always be a fan and a subscriber for all of your future gaming content! Lastly, I hope for a speedy and healthy recovery my man!! Thank you!! 💯
Hi Metal Jesus, maybe you can add to your vintage pc collection-- "Witch Haven 2: Blood Vengeance", "MageSlayer", "Invictus: In the shadows of Olympus", and "Crusaders of Might and Magic". I've had the for over 20 years and I like them! You might like them too! 😁 😄
I've been tinkering with an idea of building a Windows 98/XP machine for years now, it's a part of nostalgia for me just as much as console gaming. I've been taking some good notes from this video to get me started on the right track. Thank you!
Great video! Brings back a lot of memories when I switched from console gaming to PC gaming in the mid-90s. I played a lot of games on DOS 6.0 using a 486 processor. Trying to get games to work really taught me a lot about PCs and computers and got me interested in pursuing IT as a profession.
I miss shopping for PC games in this era. Those big boxes with crazy designs and artwork came in all shapes and sizes. Some of these games I bought just on the box art alone, as I knew nothing about them.
Really appreciate these more retro and PC-focused videos. My two favorite systems are my XP gaming and DOS/3.1 machines. My collection of big box games have kept me busy.
This is almost completely unrelated to the video, but it's one of the first PC gaming experiences I remember. Anyone remember The Secret Island of Dr. Quandary? It was an education game and was installed on all the classic Apple computers we had at my elementary school years ago. I've never heard anyone talk about this game, but I fondly remember figuring it out over time and never beating it. For some reason I'd love to play it again, just as a nostalgia thing. and of course Oregon Trail (and Amazon Trail, which wasn't nearly as popular). But everyone remembers Oregon Trail.
Nice solutions there. I would definitely use a more powerful video card on the XP machine, it can handle it. Like you, I prefere to game on period hardware, and since old PC parts are cheap (or were at some point) , I have a bunch of old parts I use. Thanks for another video. 👍
I feel like your valuations in the last part were somewhat conservative even for 2019, especially for things like the King's Quest clamshell. That keyboard overlay is REALLLLLLY hard to find. But prices seem to have SIGNIFICANTLY jumped forward during COVID across the board (for console games also). I'd say on average to double each of those valuations.
How I run my DOS games: I built my own WeeCees (2 of them) last year and almost exclusively use it for everything between early 80s stuff all the way to pre - 3dfx games. My favorite era is 1990 to 1996 anyway. I can output MIDI to my real MT-32 or my Roland SC88ST
Amazing video! Wow. So many fantastic titles. Noticed an error at 51:35. Urban Chaos isn't a 3rd person action game like GTA. It's an FPS Riot Response game that plays like an arcade game. As the footage shows. I believe the game you were meaning to say was State of Emergency. That's much more like GTA and it's developed by Rockstar Games.
There are actually two Urban Chaos games! The one he showed the trapezoid box for is a third person open worldish GTA style game that was really dark and grimy released in 1999. The other Urban Chaos (Urban Chaos: Riot Response) was the FPS you speak of, released on PS2 in 2006.
I owned Conquest Earth. It's a RTS humans vs. Aliens. Kind of like if Command and Conquer and Half Life had a baby. It was colorful, the gameplay wasn't fun. You could take control of a humvee and shoot in different directions which made you think you could turn the tide of battle but it didnt help. I tried to like it but gave up as a teenager.
Awsome video, I'm a gamer that sticks to cosoles, but I've built up a large collection of horror p.c. games. Eventually I want to build a p.c. that will play older 90s and early 2000s games.
My Toshiba P200 -RT5 runing Win 7 is still kicking ass in 2024. How is this thing still alive? I love this retro beast. Playstation1 emu & lower. This pc was BILT to run Windows Vista👎
Thorn Emi was the Shit🤘🤘🤘, but Games like Sea Dragon, Canyon Climber, A.E., Threshold, Drol, Lode Runner, Montezuma Revenge, Encounter, Quasimodo Agent U.S.A. Gumball, Whistlers Brother, Nadral, Lost Tomb, Mr Robot, Mr TNT, Shamus... and so many more. Loved them all
I don't really run that old game anymore unless they are on GOG. In addition, getting that old a system in this Country will be a pain in the ass if it is possible at all.
What about DID Video's EUROFIGHTER TYPHOON TACTCOM? will run on a machine running the AMD 1950X and 1TB of RAM (Sorry for shouting that's is the way it is on the box)
