thanks for this great and detailed demonstration. the amount of games is insane...although we have probably take 1/10 of them as the true number. anyways...it should be enough, lol. but it lookes good with a reasonable price. "OutRun 2006: Coast 2 Coast"...haha...that looked like fun to play, didn't know that one yet. best greetings and thanks for your informative video!
Thank you Wolf, I appreciate you Sir! There are definitely some great games (albeit, +duplicates), it was difficult finding a stopping point in this video. I recorded far more game play footage than was shown. OutRun 2006 was a lot of fun, I probably have over an hour recorded on that game alone, but only showed the start of the race lol.
Thanks lad. I personally like to curate my own retro library but if you're in a hurry then this works for the uninitiated in retro gaming for sure. I'd hook the drive up to a Google TV dongle or better yet, the Nvidia Shield TV Pro and run the whole shooting match from an Android set top box. 4k happiness. There ya go.
Ditto here, though many don't want to deal with setting up all the emulators, locating bios/roms, etc. this drive may make things quite a bit easier. I really should pickup an NVidia Shield at some point 😎👍 Thank you for checking out the vid my friend!
Have you seen, or tried the Kinhank 2TB HDD system? Comes with 2 controllers, if you'd like, there's a bivy of options to choose from... All over eBay, and Ali, the one that looks like a tape cassette... Was curious about these! Thanks again for the review & GOTTA have Ms. Pac-Man, man!! Nice video and thank you for sharing!
I've ordered one (Kinhank 2TB) and will review it on the channel in the near future, I do have about 4 projects ahead of it but will be getting to it soon(ish). Thank you for watching!
Im more interested in playing 🔥Retro "Arcade" games (at home) & NOT retro console games. Any info on that??🤔 Thanks as always.🙂👍🏻 Keep up the GREAT work. 👏🏻
Sure, there are a number of guides here that you may find interesting: wagnerstechtalk.com/guides/#AtGames The AtGames section includes both Arcade and virtual pinball machines. The Pi 4/400 Retro Gaming guide here: wagnerstechtalk.com/rpi4gaming has some information about setting up a Pi4 to play any games that you want (Arcade or otherwise). I hope you find this information helpful, thank you for watching!
Interesting. Not for me, but I would like to find a vertical build for my Legends Pinball which can take advantage of the fact I have a PC hooked up. The WOPR build is great but since it's just focused on the older games having some newer games would be a great addition.
Congratulations for the channel and your sensational videos, I follow it and I have a disc like this one, although there is another one that contains more capacity and obviously, games. Would it be possible for you to make a video about the 8 or 12 gb hard drive, which also comes with more games and emulators? Thank you very much!
Update from JMachen, the company behind the Hyper Base RB2 drive reviewed above. They sent me the following statement: "Regarding the problem of duplicate games you mentioned, we have also discovered this problem and are making new hard drives for rectification. We will delete all duplicate versions of the game. Regarding the old hard drives, we will provide customers with free Game download resource link, this is free for life." I asked what the customer would need to do to receive updates, here's what they said: The following is the method of customer download. All customer service customers who place an order will provide them with an account password: (The game download resources are still being updated) 1) Install FTP client programmer filezilla-project.org 2) Open it and Create a new site. 3) Set the host to www.jmachen.net 4) User name: XXX Password: XXX (please consult online customer service for specific password) *NOTE: Don't forget to change the encryption to "Plain FTP only (insecure)". Please feel free to contact our online sales representative if you have any questions at jmachen.com/pages/contact .
It’s too bad about the MAME rom dumps and some of those higher end system titles for GameCube and PS2 are missing out on some better titles than what they are offering.
Hi Joey, I received an e-mail from them, asked a few questions and looks like they are going to correct the duplicate games mentioned. Agree, there is room for improvement in the Game List. I appreciate your feedback, I'll pass your recommendation back to them.
There are a bunch of videos on YT. Search for Emulation Station controller mapping and find one that matches your controller. I used a cheap xbox 360 (clone) controller, link in the description. No mapping was required at all.
You could copy the roms and bios from this drive, but not use this front-end as-is. On the steam deck, checkout this guide first wagnerstechtalk.com/sd-emudeck/ . Then, copy the bios and roms as you wish to the Steam Deck.
Wanted to be 100% sure I answer correctly. Disconnected Ethernet and WiFi, created a separate account and it worked fine. Played a few games and back here answering -no network connection is required.
Can someone help me figure out how to get the sound to work when I play the individual games? The sound works when I'm searching the menu, but when I start playing the games nothing.
@@kimkitty1 I have a similar issue with my Win11 mini pc. To fix it, I launch a game, go to the RetroArch menu, change the sound driver from xsound to dsound, save the configuration, then exit RetroArch. When I go back into the game, I'll hear sound. For some reason, it will kick back to xsound, and I have to repeat this process. Not certain if this is your issue, but it's worth trying.
I wouldnt touch that with a bargepole the toshiba drives are terrible it will probably corrupt and die in a few hours. The number of toshiba drives ive had die on me are unreal.
I would lean more towards Batocera Linux, if you need info. on how to set it up yourself please see this: wagnerstechtalk.com/pc-batocera . I'll also have a video in about a week of a drive that runs on a Steam Deck or PC.
I'm curious as to why you say you prefer Batocera? Doesn't RetroBat have a performance advantage by allowing you to choose DirectX as your graphics back end? I'm trying to choose between these two options as well so a little more info on Why you say you prefer one over the other would be greatly appreciated.
# I Have And Am Keeping This Drive BUT Prepare The Bugs And Glitches Often For No More Than Chosing A Rom Or Exiting Out Of A Rom # Why No Reviewers Are Going Into This Makes Me Wonder WHY NOT . . .
Chromebooks do have Linux underneath - you might get RetroPie working - I just installed it on top of Ubuntu yesterday - though I admittedly like Batocera's UI much better!
So basically people are now making money of off free stuff anyone can get and gather from the internet.... djeezes, what have we come to... Just get retrobat, get your emulators and find your roms, and u can make your own harddrive with just the games and systems u want instead of a clogged up system with 2000 duplicate games u probably payed way too much for!
Don't disagree with you, many don't want to spend the time and effort to learn nor setup their own images. Therefore, options like this are becoming increasingly popular.
You may want to contact jmachen directly here: jmachen.com/pages/contact . Their images may change from time to time and they'll have the latest information.
@@WagnersTechTalk I ordered retrostation PC4U 2TB, I hope I didn't make a mistake, even though this isn't bad either..I am waiting for it to arrive in Croatia 🙂
You can contact them directly here: jmachen.com/pages/contact , if they are unable to resolve the issue I'd contact the seller for a return/replacement. The drive I received worked as shown.
I bought it and in my opinion it's a crap build. Too many dups as mentioned, bad game choices for naomi and atomis wave. Mame has clones instead of parents in some cases, no chds because fbnero is being used instead for some games. The file structure is not well thought out etc... The only good thing is the price. A lot of the games didn't even work in mame and that tells me this was more of a dump then something that is thoughtfully put together.
I definitely appreciate your feedback! Please see the pinned comment above. Shortly after this review, they acknowledged the issues and will be providing access to an update to fix some of the issues reported (duplicates, categories, etc.) Hopefully we'll get a better image as a result with free updates.
