I use the rectangular black one Very simple to use and customize (Tip : if you have some problems at starting, you have to put a delay at the device starting - in setting software)
@@upir_upir Hi, no my Pc is not custom, it’ s a full BeQuiet! (Pure base 550 FX + Pure loop 2 FX 360 + Pure power 12M 850w) + AMD Ryzen 7 5800x + Rx 7800 XT …… 😇 The display is in the case, behind the glass, and show me for CPU GPU SSD RAM the % of use and the temperature I have also on this display 2 graph for up and download It’ s plug directly on the USB Motherboard
I've been looking into these, but to be honest, I'm not thrilled about installing software from some janky, no name, Chinese company. I just want the screen.
You can still use them the play video, and in that case, you don´t need that software, but obviously that usage is quite limiting. Another option is to use a third-party open source python scripts, but those are currently only for the small display, not for the big one or the round one. Hopefully someone will update those scripts for the other displays as well... otherwise, the display (display panel) quality is great.
Looks interesting might gonna pick it up for a project My idea is to use it as a display for sim rigs I know there are plenty of products already for that but expensive like hell
Thank you, but for your case, you would probably need an external monitor. This one is purely for displaying statistics. Other option is to use the Python scripts, but those are for now only for the smaller screen. Anyway, good luck with your project!
@@upir_upir you are more then welcome are there any recommendations around similar sized displays like the ones you shown off ? That are also in that quality? And by chance to you know when Python script compatibility comes to the bigger ones ?
Friend, good morning!!! I have a 3.5 display similar to yours that is connected to the PC via a USB C cable. This week I bought an Acegeek watercooler that has a display with the temperature on the pump itself, however when installing the program to work the display the 3.5 screen remains white. I checked in the root of the driver that they are the same and I think that for this reason one cannot project the image (generally the 3.5" screen). The watercooler is connected to USB directly on the motherboard (like this round video screen) What can I do? Could you help me?
I am trying to find out how to play videos on this device, but I am having a hard time (round 2.1" device). I have gotten them to work in two ways. 1. Load as a background image. This works but you hvae to select a theme, and there is no blank theme. There is the text theme but I can't seem to edit it to remove the words Input Text. It would be nice if there were some actual instructions for this software. It's buggy, poorly documented and sparse. 2. Load in the Device section. This works but you cannot rotate the video. There is an "Album Flips 180" check box but it doesn't seem to do anything. I finally found that you have to rotate the GIF 90 degrees before you load it (if you want the cable facing down), so all of them need to be rotated before being saved to the internal memory depending on the orientation of the unit.. Fantastic hardware but the software is pretty bad. Really needs some refining.
Agree about the software being quite bad, expecially compared to hardware. I wish someone would release a third party software to controll those screens, that would be great.
I don´t think that is related to the display, but rather your PC configuration. It seems like (some) USB ports are still on after the shutdown - that might be intentional. Perhaps use a different USB port or try to configure it to turn off? I´m sure google will know more about that.
Nice video, Is there anyway you can display NZXT cam on that IPS screen?. Or do you have to use Aida-64?. I'm looking at purchasing one of these devices myself.
Unfortunately, that´s not possible. This screen will only work with the provided software (Not AIDA64). It´s not a HDMI screen, but connected via USB-C connector, so it does not act as an external screen.
Hello, I just bought a 5-inch, the page says that they upload themes continuously, but on the website there is only a link to the program to download, do you know how to add themes?
Please see my other tutorials how to create themes, but I´m worried that you only get the ones with the software, I don´t know if you can download more from the official website.
can you do a video on how to customize the the 8.8" display? how much memory comes in the display and how big of an SD card should I use, I feel like 32gb is overkill for this, can I just use a 1,2, or 4 GB card? I just got the 8.8 and installed it and I am just playing around with the themes but haven't tried to customize anything yet, also the screen will not turn off when I put the PC in sleep mode, I guess it is a bug ,do you know of any fix besides using python which is not yet available for the 8.8 yet I think. some of the included themes I would just like to change the colors and maybe the video is that possible?
@@upir_upir I have just been playing with it I got one metric for the CPU Temp working on my own theme but not sure how to set the background. The thing is acting really strange with sleep though. At first the screen would stay on in sleep then it started going to sleep and waking with the PC, then I had to change the shutdown color setting for my Corsair vengeance ram in signal RGB and after I did that when I went to manually put it to sleep it would wake up again after all my RGB flashing between MB and signal RGB effects. So I tried to stop the display and then end task on turzx before putting it to sleep and now the PC will go to sleep and all the RGB goes off but now the screen stays on again. Software seems really buggy. So have you had any pro with the 8.8 staying on in sleep or shut down?
@@upir_upir it displays the default theme but I would like for a certain theme to come come on when I boot the computer up is there any way to do that?
Probably not. You still need to send some graphical data to the display, and Arduino simply does not have enough power. You can get it working with other microcontrollers, like Raspberry PI - github.com/mathoudebine/turing-smart-screen-python
@@upir_upir I think issue with Arduino is more lack of a USB host port, not the data rate as the serial port speed is only 115200bps. Maybe an esp32s3 or rp2040 running Micropython perhaps?
Hi. a great informative video thank you but i was wondering if one could put a switch inline some where and switch between 2 small vids in the round 2.1 inch screen version? thank you for all your help, take care and ahve a great day!
Thank you for your comment, but I´m not aware of a way how to switch between different videos, also because there is no touchscreen, so it would have to be somehow tied to some values?
Hi, thanks for getting back to me, what kind of values are you on about? values in resistors on the board or in the video/program? when i get mine ill find out a bit more and let you know if i can. thank you for that information take care and have a great day!@@upir_upir
Hi sorry i forgot to ask aswell, does this produce sound? how would you get sound to link up with the video if it doesent? would it or does it go through the usb lead to a spearker etc? take care. @@upir_upir
You can always try to run some online anti-virus scan. I did it, and it found nothing. You cannot be obviously 100% sure, but I don´t think it´s a security issue. If you have the smallest display, there are some community-made python script that you can use, and you don´t need to use the provided software.
After a windows update, my 3.5 not detected by te apps. Suspect usb driver has gone wrong. Uninstalled driver but it keep reinstalled automatically from the system. can anybody help me how to remove completely usb driver?
Thanks for the review just received mine in the mail too. Do you know if you can fully rotate the displays? (0, 90, 180 ,270) for the 2.1 inch and 5 inch?
You are welcome. Yes, you can rotate all the displays. In the case of 5inch, you can rotate it by 0 or 180 degrees for both vertical and horizontall orientation. You can rotate the round one by 90° increments since the width is the same as height and there is no differentiation between vertical and horizontal layout.
So the software is ony good for these screens? I turned my old android in to a 2nd monitor for the purpose of using it as a touchscreen system monitor. I can't fund any free software to use for it though near as I can tell you have to buy AIDIA64 and that sucks.
If the display photo looks the same, it´s most likely the same display and you can use the software. I know that many times, the name "Turzx" is not listed, and sometime you might even find an information that it could be used with AIDA64. I guess the translation is not always right.
whenever i start my PC the round screen 2.1 that I got always start at the default screen showing turzx? do you really need to run the app when you get to desktop?
@@upir_upir well i managed to get my 32GB SD Card work. Turns out it auto format it to GPT. Need to manually change it MBR through the software. Now i can store larger video files.
@@firdausbhari I tried formatting through the Genius software they provided. Still unable to get the microSD to detect. Did you format to FAT32 as shown in the instructions? Thanks!
hello, first of all such a nice and informative video. Second, can i use this system to convert an aold tablet into a system panel without doing much tampering
Thank you for your comment, but unfortunately what you plan is not possible with this display/software. You can convert old tablet into a system panel, but you need to use a different software.
You can edit the provided ones, create new ones, download new ones. I believe at some point, there should be a "markerplace" where you can even buy new themes? I have seen some unused buttons in the software for that.
Unfortunately not, the Turzx software is only compatible with Turzx screens, not with HDMI screens. For that, you would need something like the AIDA64.
Those screens can only be used with the dedicated software that comes with the display. Someone created Python scripts for the smaller one, but not yet for the bigger ones. Another usage is that you can use it for playing video, in that case, you don´t need to use any software.
Thank you for your video, you helped me so much. Well I'll plan to buy the 3,5 inch, could you please tell me, I'm so curious, what are the disadvantages of the 3.5 inch compared to the 5 inch other than size, I heard the 5 inch much better than that one. +1 sub and like from Indonesia my friend.
Thank you for your comment. The screen quality is great for the small one, but the provided software is very limited compared to the bigger versions. You cannot play the background video and creating the themes is very limited - for example you can only set one font. Try watching my other videos about the Turzx screens to get a sense of what´s available. You can also download all the software and try it on your own before buying the displays. Hope that helps!
I don´t know if there is a proper name, but if you simply search for "motherboard to usb cable", you should find what you are looking for. Also, for Turzx displays, those cables are already included.
The provided software only works with Windows, but you can try the unofficial python scripts and those should work with Linux too - github.com/mathoudebine/turing-smart-screen-python
This is not a standard HDMI external screen, but rather a module that you connect via USB. In theory, there is no reason why AIDA64 cannot support this screen, but it would have to be added from the developers.
I don’t think it’s any more or less sketchy than all the crap we all use every day. It’s just cheap and badly made by manufacturers that do quantity over quality. The trick is to find those times when a quality product comes out of the sausage factory, which it appears he has done!
oh thank you! One more question if you dont mind. I want to make a custom theme but it seems that uploading a gif doesnt work for making a moving background. is there a certain file type i need? @@upir_upir
@@StarfallExotics-oj2enYou probably need the video in the mp4 format - there are some example videos in the software installation folder. WIth some utilities, you can convert GIF files into mp4 files. It´s also a good idea to resize the video to the size of the display to not waste any memory, but that´s not required. There are some free utilities like ffmpeg, but they are not very user friendly.
I have the 5" model with English software. It works good...when it works. Unfortunately at least twice a week when I turn on the computer the Turzx software will not load when Windows boots up and I have to reinstall it. Upon reinstalling, it works again. If anyone has a solution please hit me up.
I´m sorry to hear that, and unfortunatelly I don´t have any solution for that. Perhaps try the forum on the official website? Hope you will be able to sort it out soon!
I have the round screen. It turns on and has the default picture. But when I click RUN it says ''try to connect1-2-3-4-5'' then ''connection failed'' everytime. I've tried so many time. Nothing works. Please HELP!
You can download drivers from the official website, perhaps start with that? If it doesn’t help, there is a forum on the official website, maybe you will find the answer there? Hope this helps and you will get it working.
I believe the main advantage of this display is that it does most of the heavy lifting on its own - I.e., playing the background video, so it’s not taking your PCs resources. Both options have pros and cons.
Dude get another career. I use my ubc as a display input (thunderbolt link) maybe ur monitor have tech. But no way Uma says gpu resources on another hdmi display. For a 12.6 in panel. I also used before that a 4k 60hxz 15.6 in display [portable monior) and now only did i simultaneously get usb/thunderbolt display with that one as well but I got Powe delivery through same port...plz before u RU-vidr rush to make videos and views do ur research
Thank you so much for the vid, I've been frustrated trying to figure out how to set a video for the 3.5 inch, I guess you stupidly can't. shouldn't be a different UI for every screen honestly. extra unnecessary work just to make the smaller screen worse quality.
You are welcome. Indeed you cannot play video on the 3.5” screen, but it’s not because it uses a different software. This is a limitation of the chip used in the screen, it’s simply not powerful enough to play videos.
@@upir_upir ah okay well that sucks, I custom 3D modeled a whole 3D print for a Fallout terminal for it to go into and not I have to redesign it for 5”
is the software compatible with linux? (specifically mint, since that's what i'm using), was just wondering before i decide to buy one and i couldnt find an answer anywhere
The only display tha you can use with Linux is the smallest one (3.5"), with Python scripts, not with the official software. The official software only supports Windows. Hope that was helpful.
Unfortunately not. All the other screens support video playback, but not the smallest 3.5" screen. That one is quite limited in many other ways, compared to the other screens.
Unfotunately not with the same displays. You can connect only one display of a kind - so one small, one big, and one round. Maybe they will fix this in the next version of the display..
You can use it to store video files, either for displaying it on the background of the theme, or for using the displays as a very simple video player. In that case, it does not even have to be connected to PC. As for the file system, I believe it´s mentioned in the documentation when you download the software. I have used it for the round display, but that one has the SD card already populated.
i have turzx turing display for months now , but mod is limited coz language barrier is there any place to download theme ( .turtheme ) files? i love these screens!
I believe they are adding the option to download new themes from the application itself- at least the menu option was there on the latest beta release, but it wasn’t working yet. What kind of theme are you looking for?
@@upir_upir that good to know , i just love theming my pc , currently using their ready made theme and working with it. anything will do , for now tho , anything futuristic/cyberpunky
I was unsure if it was possible to add new sensors, as I needed the fan sensor. Thanks to your video I discovered that it is possible. Thank you very much and congratulations for the video
Hi!) My screen not working, 3.5 inch:((.. Please tell me, in the device manager in the port parameters, how many bits per second, how many data bits, is there parity and what flow control?
Hi, can I run the round 2.1 inch screen without the software? Like I just set a certain gif or video once and it will always play it without the software. Thanks
Sure, you can do that. If you only want to play the video on loop, you don´t need to run the software. That´s true for all the screens except for the smallest one.
Hi, i wonder how safe is this Turzx software that is mandatory to run screen? Is there any risk of virus of some theft of passwords. I am oversensitive about this kind of think :)
It´s never 100% safe to run software; no matter who the developer is, there is always a risk. That said, Google Drive runs a virus check on all the files, and it seems to be safe.
Thank you! The FPS is present in the "normal" version for round display, and for the beta version for the 5inch display. I haven´t tested it yet though.
nice video. I wonder if the world animation is included in that program. I mean did you create the animation which world turns around or it's one of the theme? I would like to but either the 2.1 inch or 5 inch but could not decide which one is better for my system. I have a NZXT 52 water cooling system but the screen goes off. RGB leds do not respond to its program. Which one is better? 2.1 or 5? Thank you
Thank you. Yes, that video is included. You can download the application and try it even without having the display. As for which one to get, both the round one and big one are very similar, it depends on which one fits your case better.
@@upir_upir Thanks for the info. I have NZXT Kraken X 52 and the round display freezes all the time. SOmetimes it does not light up and sometimes it lights up but freezes. @@aslanbehar2671 I like the round one more because it´s more unusual. It also includes an SD card to fit more/longer videos. Plus you can use it to also show analog clocks which I think looks great.
@@upir_upir thanks a lot . The one I found on Aliexpress is same but in black color. But I did not see any sd card slot on it. It only says that there is 128 mb internal memory. ı do not know if it is ok for playing videos. I asked the seller about the sd card
Hello nice video ; D btw I have a question and I dont know if u can solve my doubt but what is the diference about the turzx screen 2.1 and the other who have the separate cables, there are differences about the quality of display or something more apart from the removable cables and the aida software? thanks in advance
You mean all those 3 screens from TurzX? They are from the same brand, just having different sizes and different shapes. There is no significant difference between having the cable connected to the display and having the cable separate. None of those screens can use AIDA64, they all use proprietary software.
It´s not about the displays or the software, but also about how the system reports those data. It will never be 100% accurate, but I haven´t seen anything highly unusual.
