Mr. Burn's Limo is my favourite ride. It's a tough, heavy yet fast vehicle used for quick escapes, ramming large and small vehicles for coins, racing opponents and evading the police when the Hit and Run Meter is full.

This will seem like an unpopular opinion at first glance, but please hear me out. After the high amounts of backlash that was the GTA Trilogy, it has been made pretty clear that they haven't stuck to the style of the original games. They look like trash, have trouble holding a stable framerate, are glitchy, and the developers even had to delist the PC version. This is not the first time this has happened, though: when the Mafia games got remastered, there was negativity due to the performance issues and bugs it had. The Assassin's Creed Ezio Collection had controversy about the visuals. And when Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World - Complete Edition released... well, you can probably guess. Or maybe you already knew beforehand. No matter the case, most remasters seem to share a common trait of being less than the original games despite the 'improvements'. But those are all 7th gen games - PS3 and 360 ports, most of which had PC ports that remasters could be based on which, in turn, may have included higher-quality assets already. 6th gen games are a different story, though. There are very few true remasters of PS2/Xbox/GameCube-era games, and for good reason. One very good example of this is the Rehydrated edition of SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom being referred to as "incredibly dated". Not exactly impressive. The biggest reason by far, though, is that many 6th gen games have no PC version, making them significantly more difficult to bring to modern consoles than games that do. With that in mind, let's get onto the topic at hand: The Simpsons: Hit & Run. Taking everything we know about remasters and apply it to a best-case scenario, we know that it would effectively be a port with few visual changes or other alterations. Imagine HD resolution and proper widescreen support, all bugs and glitches fixed, menu overhauls, spruced up graphics, and possibly even some additional content that adds more replay value. That would arguably be a good remaster, but it'd still have all the cons of other 6th gen remasters - there's only so much you can do with the visuals of such a game, and I'd argue you simply can't bring them up to today's standards that they would fit well in HD. The worst-case scenario, then: Simpsons Hit & Run gets ported GTA Trilogy style. The developers may have put work into trying to make it look better but due to poor art direction, time limitations, and budget restrictions, it looks like garbage. Textures have been upscaled but not necessarily improved, certain elements stick out like a sore thumb due to not receiving any attention, the gameplay has remained the same despite the visuals changing and ends up feeling clunky as a result, and performance is terrible despite the game looking like it does. And, of course, there are lots of new bugs in the game which modders have to fix because, let's face it... the developers won't. In truth, most remasters don't end up in either camp, but between them. That's where Rehydrated was, and that's where Hit & Run Remastered would likely be. But there's a way to avoid all of this that I haven't mentioned yet, and that's remaking the game. Remember, there's a difference between remastering and remaking. While remasters are common for 7th gen titles, 6th gen and older games more often get remade for technical, visuals, and gameplay reasons, among other things. Not only that, but modern remakes are almost always received positively. Resident Evils 2 and 3, the Final Fantasy 7 Remake, and Blaster Master Zero are examples of this, along with remakes of 7th gen games such as Demon's Souls and Halo: The Master Chief Collection. For all the talk of remastering The Simpsons: Hit & Run, it sure seems like that's the inferior method. So the real question remains: why not remake it? For us players, there's no sense in not remaking the game (I am aware that there already is something like that floating around). Coming at it from the publisher's standpoint, though, there are plenty of problems. The Simpsons: Tapped Out is making EA lots of bank off that. Additionally, remakes require a ton of money to create, so its profit would be dubious at best. EA would also only do it if it benefits their company. Also, an entire development studio needs to work on it - it can't just get outsourced to some indie dev that only does ports - and that means that studio won't be working on more profitable venture. Aside from issues of investment and profit, there's also the fact that if they're remaking a game, they could just as easily be making a whole-new game instead, which takes roughly the same amount of time and effort. All of this means that an official Simpsons Hit & Run remake is highly unlikely, at least for now. At this point, you guys are probably thinking 'the game does have a PC version, you jerkass!' While that may be true, there is just one problem: it's not a Steam game. And major companies prefer to work with Steam in order for releases to sell and make them profitable. As of this post, there are no Simpsons games on Steam. If a Hit & Run remake were to ever be made by an official studio, it would definitely get a Steam or even an Epic Games release. But EA owns the rights to The Simpsons, they can do whatever they want with it. And we're gonna have to deal with it because a remake of Hit & Run won't come to fruition by them. What we're really left with, then, is a longing for a proper remake of Hit & Run that will probably never be fulfilled: an Action-Adventure game built on the Unreal Engine that takes advantage of modern visuals, physics, sound, and, of course, destruction. I can only imagine the sort of damage that could be achieved with a new Simpsons game. With 9th gen consoles, they could do more than just basic damage details on vehicles, they could make the pedestrians have more reactions, smoother looking map layouts and objects, and other things. Anyhow, that's my TED talk. Seeing all the posts about The Simpsons: Hit & Run Remastered and the disappointing release of the GTA Trilogy, I needed to get this out of me. And like any normal person would, I expressed it by writing a 1000-word essay. Ugh. The last thing I can say is that I'm thankful that the game is not remade. Yeah, I said it. And I'm sticking to it.

Notice Mr Burns and Denzel Crocker sound similar but Burns is voiced by Harry Shearer and Denzel Crocker is voiced by Carlos Alazraqui.

I had this on GameCube way back when I was like 5 or 6 when it came out then I played it and got stuck on level 4 so I took a break from it then went back and got to level 7 got to the end then we moved and my GameCube got put into a box. Then I got a PS2 and got this game got to level 7 in a few weeks and got stuck again on the last mission then I finished it. My longest speed run was level 1-6 and that took a good 8-9 hrs
