Can you imagine if they replace the internals of the quest 3 with an ally.modified the software to just run vr as a all in one headset. Rog get on this asap!
This is great... I am curious to see if anybody can get this working with the external GPU module and how that will affect performance. I like to maintain a bit higher refresh rate for motion sickness but this does look interesting.
@@Jdb63 Indeed it does. In most circumstances it would be completely ridiculous. I am highly mobile however and this would potentially be a perfect fit for a really mobile setup that wouldn't overload a carry-on.
I just played elite dangerous on my ally. The text is really hard to read but I was completely immersed. I'm not that versed into what I should do to get better quality ..maybe someone can get better results. I did not connect my Ally to a dock because I wanted a full wireless experience and also wanted to use it as a controller. As a portable all in one vr experience is incredible we can play a game like elite on the go
In elite settings goto graphics preset and scroll down and set it to Medium VR it helps a lot making the letters clearer. It runs a lot better and cuts out all the stutter using Steam Link as well it’s a bit stuttery if you use Quest Link I found.
Meta, please put 2 x z1 extreme apus in your meta quest 4. This should make it possible to play proper PC quality games natively. I know it will be expensive but hardcore gamers will always find a way to get enough money to fund their gaming addiction.
Is impressive I’ve been enjoying Elite and ETs2 in VR though mine. Was bit of bonus when I found out it could run VR as I just assumed it couldn’t for a while
Looks like Alyx is maxing out both the system memory and vram. Would probably play much smoother if the Ally had 32gb of ram as HL Alyx is a real memory hog.
ive just ordered my rog ally because its on sale i have quest 2 iam going to play assetto corsa on my monitor with my racing wheel which i use for xbox but iam very curious to see if the vr would work on assetto corsa if on a low rez
it absolutely can. no issues with it really with that 4070. I will maybe do some videos of VR with the X13 4070, (which is really close to the Z13 acronym)
Could you retest these games with the ssw on and with the vr performance toolkit? Would love to see performance in half life alyx with that performance mod enabled lol 😂
Works via USBC Oculus link running native PC VR apps with the Quest Pro. Would recommend plugging in, instead of using Virtual Desktop. Just need to find a way to strap the ally to the waist. (Which you barely feel)
Could Halflife Alyx be played offline after an initial setup. For e.g : Can you plug the Quest 2 into the ROG ALLY? Perhaps with some kind of adapter? I am thinking of making an adapter to fit the Ally to a belt and play it on the go would be crazy. But I don’t have an Ally but would definitely buy one if it were possible to plug the Quest 2 into it rather than using a network.
I have the rog ally & a meta quest 3 I’ve really been thinking about trying pcvr on it and see if it works for myself. Only negative is my left analog stick went out on my rog yesterday for the 2nd time, only reads going up and down. Ordered some replacements tho.
Hard to say... virtual desktop seems to remove any driver and displayport problems that could arise from the equation. most likely the rift s would say "incompatible graphics" or something like that.
Even the "link" wired USB-C connection relys on encode->decode same as virtual desktop. The difference is that the oculus software will tell you your GPU isn't compatible.
@@cbutters Interesting. In my testing, performance was generally better with wired vs virtual desktop. I still use virtual desktop as I prefer it to occulus, but if it's the same or just doesn't work, then this is a solid test.
