Hey I appreciate the video. I have a kurzweil pc88mx that was owned By Foreigner. Was played on tour by mick Jones. It still has all their old midi files saved. I’d like to fix my problem without doing a complete factory reset. It is definitely out of pitch but when I hit keys 4,5,and 6 it shows the pitch wheel is going back to zero properly. Is there another adjustment.?
I don't know. There are two tiny orange screws next to each other, one of which is the one that I messed with in the video. I don't remember what the second one does, though you should be able to find out online with a little research. If you do a factory reset you can save all your data first and then reload it after. Saving data takes a while, possibly an hour or two in my experience, though midi files are relatively small compared with samples. Good luck!
Hey there! I'm having the same problem with my Kurz, besides the fact that it also lags when it starts and sometimes shifts inadvertently the patch sound while I'm playing (loose slider, perhaps?). Anyway, I'd like to know where can I run that diagnostic mode to see the pitch bend behaviour. Thanks!
I explained that around 40 seconds in the above video. When the Kurzweil is switched on, press 4,5 and 6 on the keypad simultaneously. After the LEDs flash it will be in diagnostic mode. Simply move the pitch wheel and you find that the central position needs to be around 128 that you can see in the keyboard display window. The range goes from 0 when pitch bend is down, to 255 when pitch bend is fully up.
...I suggest getting a can of switch cleaner first before messing with the tiny orange colored adjustment knobs accessed through the holes in the bottom. The problem I had was cured by cleaning the pitch bend potentiometer with a squirt of switch cleaner.
