Man, Fellas, you've now covered my two favorite movies, both by Curtis Hanson. Nice job. You covered it beautifully, and I don't have anything to add, except, LA Confidential came out while I lived in Portland, Oregon. Portland had a weekly paper called The Willamette Week (like The Reader, if you know what that is), and they had a movie reviewer known to be super negative, and bashed everything, and the paper regularly got letters calling for his ouster. After LA Confidential came out, and I'd seen it and was a little obsessed with it, I opened the WW to see what he found about it to hate... His entire review, verbatim, "A perfect film." Thanks, Gents, for another great episode.

Much appreciated, Marc! What a great story. I love that even a supremely finicky reviewer had to bow down before the greatness of this movie. Curtis Hanson was such a great director, and there are some fun (and decidedly offbeat) entries in his filmography. Not many directors show his kind of range. So glad you enjoyed the episode!
