When you see PCGS and NGC as one ☝️ make sure you get Vegas coin slabs and signature coins signed by numismatic people . Before PCGS not saying pcgs isn’t nice just saying the level of coolness increases when you see Vegas gems 💎 and binion slab gems and learn something . The signed coins are just more rare in my eyes cause not all coins are signed . Favorite signed are Kenneth bressetts and the silver dollar king himself Wayne Miller .
$$$ to grade your coins? Well, that's the way it has always been! The people who work the miners get rich, while the miners just survive! Good to see you make a decent margin on your hard work and vast knowledge.
I really enjoy watching these PCGS submissions videos. The 1881-S Morgan is a beauty. It sure looks proof like to me. But I know it’s really hard to get that designation. I think it was definitely worth a try
148 days and still waiting for my Lincoln wheat set collection to come back from PCGS. The coins should hopefully get MS-62 and above. It took me almost 20 years to build the collection up to uncirculated grades and it all started out with a half full Whitman album given to me for my birthday when I was a kid. I'm so nervous and a little disappointed because I was hoping to get them back by Christmas and I don't know if that's going to happen.
Very interesting Rob. BTW: A graded tooled coin, means that an engraving tool or knife was used to reengrave or enhance the coins features. It can also include a mechanical mean, such as press, or filing. It requires a super powerful magnifying glass to see it, by reverse imagery.
Love these videos. Thank you for the great content. I tend to think the reverse of the trade dollar is what gave it the designation of tooled. Many times when a coin is tooled, someone tries to re-engrave the design. I can't be certain, but it looks possible that someone may have tried to re-engrave the outer edges of the eagle.

I got MS 70 NGC from jm bullion. Egyptian 2 ozt antiqued round. The edges look like they were clinked together with another coin but graded perfect. It depends on how much buisness you give them. That matters for what grades you get.

I had an order there for a little less than 70 days recently. The only reason I got it back so quickly was I called them everyday and had them place two expedites on it. Thanks for another video. I always enjoy videos like this.

All the morgans are over graded if you ask me!!! Yeah there is some nice coins out there but the way they handled them back in the day just beat them up!
Odd designations and gradings aside - you've still got some great coins to add to your slabbed collection. As you say - sometimes you just gotta role the dice with PCGS. 👍👍

PCGS is tough... I imagine these mean old grouchy men w scrunched up frowns, taking great pleasure in lowering half a grade from each coin's true grade. 🧐 I've been afraid to send in my "coins to be graded" stack for 3 YEARS❗❗
Not sure PCGS got that attribution correct on the 1909-S. The FS-1501 is much more scarce than the FS-1502. Difficult to attribute in lower grades, but looks more like the FS-1501 to me as well.
Raw coins in 2021 constantly receive ms60- ms62 if not cleaned designation . Buying raw coin in 2021 is dangerous if your trying too get high grades . Best advice in 2021 when it comes too high grade morgans . Attend auctions at heritage , great collections, and eBay and try too win the finished product. In 2021 the Morgan mint state frequency dropped tremendously. Be happy you got a ms61 these days your lucky if you don’t get cleaned coins . Buying raw sucks cause picture manipulation occurs in 2021 massively. If your trying too get high grade coins . I hate saying it . Sometimes it’s a good idea too just grab the finished graded product.
Cool video, I am surprised by the 1909-S variety attribution. I really think they got it wrong. It is not unheard of for them to mis label something. That Trade Dollar is sweet!
yeah that 1909-S is the FS-1501 like you knew, not the 1502. PCGS is really bad at attributing varieties. You can easily submit lookalike varieties (like the 1935 DDO) and get it attributed as the more expensive variety. The attributers there are amateurs that never look for die markers or mintmark position.

Love these videos Rob. Seems like the theme, for every submitter, is a little disappointment mixed in with the anticipation and excitement. Still questioning that 1909 S/S, looks to me like you may have the 1501 as submitted, but I guess we’re not the experts! Maybe some die markers from Wexlers site will help!?!?
Hey man - I commented earlier about turnaround times. I’m 7 weeks into the waiting so I’ll see you in April More importantly of my 34 coins I submitted 22 are Morgan’s I thought were shot PL and/or shot 65 or better I’ll probably go 0 for 22. The others are a few semi key Morgan’s like 85-S, 87-S and some early walkers in VF/XF including a gorgeous VF 1921-S 1919-S VF, 23-S borderline XF. 16-D F, 17-S Rev solid XF… I’m sure it’ll turn out to be waiting 4 months only to have all the air let out of the baloon
It's always disappointing when you don't get the grade you were hoping for, but that's how it goes sometimes. As you said, at the very least they're authenticated and protected, and still great looking coins. Thanks so much, @RobFinds Treasure!
some nice grades there congrats on the quad double die half dollar and not so nice pretty lame it took so long to grade your coins and back you guessing not many working right now likely due to Covid19. love your Channel Rob learned a lot in the 2 years I have been subbed to your Channel helped me respect coins and understand coin collecting
I recently received proof like designation on a 1880 S, the coins that get that now a days have to be basically a mirror. Like no cart wheel- sun burst effects. Don’t know what it would take to get a dmpl tho. The coin I got back has such deep mirrors that I could clean my teeth from the reflection of the coin. Weird. I wish I could upload the picture into the comments.
The PCGS price guide is produced by PCGS which means that PCGS sets the prices for their own coins. In the real world no one goes by the PCGS price guide. So if PCGS says it worth "X" amount of dollars that's good for them and it's good for you.. Until you try to sell them in the real world.
I bought a nice 1803 draped bust 50c large 3 for $250 from my lcs and thought it was nice, had it in my pocket album for a couple of months then thought I had to get it graded cos it looked so nice, it came back with a vf30 with no details, fresh and clear...itsnice to have what could be a $1500 coin but also to bring something fresh to the grading nation....some nice coins shouldn't be left unslabbed, its just asking to damage them.
Call it what you want ain’t no second guessing and gambling 🎰 coin roll hunting . NGC and pcgs I love em both for different reasons . NGC cause they offer Vegas coin . And pcgs cause truview basketball size coin pictures . Don’t waste money gambling . Grading in 2021 the mint state frequency I know for a fact dropped the highest raw coin grade I got in 2021 was a damn choice uncirculated
Personally, I know this will be a very unpopular opinion but I don't think I will ever send a coin to be graded. You want me to get rid of my coin for up to 4 months and then pay you probably more than what its worth or its equal value? Plus they just charge you high prices cause they know the near monopoly they have on coins. They make millions every year they don't need to charge that much for coins.
