PCI MOUNT AND SPARCO SPRINT INSTALL | Miata Pt. 12 

Thanks for the reassuring info that bashing my trans tunnel will be ok. I just mounted my sprint with planted brackets and its way off towards the outside of the car. Looks like my sheet metal has a date tonight with a 3 pound sledge 😄

I have the sprint all the way back as far as possible with the planted low mount and it’s still too close to the wheel. I’m 5’10” with an inseam of 33”. Some tips: 1) be prepared to hammer in the trans tunnel a solid couple of inches away from the seat because if you don’t, the seat bottoms out on the side and you won’t be centered behind the wheel. 2. There is zero space to attach fasteners if you have to slam the seat back. A stubby 14mm ratchet wrench is basically necessary to fasten the floor pan bolts under the seat. I couldn’t figure out a way to access the side mount bolts with the bracket already on so I attached the side mount bolts first, put the seat in the car and attached the bracket to the floor pan. It was NOT an easy process but hopefully you only have to do it once. Be careful not to strip the floor pan nuts, otherwise you’ll be in a world of hurt. The best fitting seats I’ve seen mounted in a Miata were lotus Elise seats. sadly, they’re not cheap at all. But they fit under the roll bar and are a bit narrower and that allows some extra room to slide back further. Worse comes to worse you can always cut out the floor pan and add drop a drop plate…

Which hardware did you use for the side mounting points? I bought my sparco seat and bracket off of someone else and i dont have any hardware

Were you able to get the stock belts to work with the sliders?

About to order all of this Looks like we are the same height too so should work. I know it’s been a few years are you still happy with everything the seat and bracket?

was there any interference with your hardtop latches?

Isn't the stock 3pt seatbelt supposed to be routed through the harness holes?

do you sit lower with the sparco seat now or you about the same as stock
