Great video. Thank you for giving the tips without a whole bunch of fluff and me having to meet your three cats and dogs. Your video was very informative and I hope you do more about PCS moves about life in Fairbanks where to buy things.
Good luck in Alaska, it's an awesome place to visit. Thank god I never got stationed there. Korea was cold enough even then I was TDY to the Philippines during January and half of February.
I was stationed there at Ft. Wainwright from 1987 to 1990. Very little changes. Everything you have mentioned in this video was true then. You have the RU-vid via Internet; I had the Yellow pages and pay phones. Western Union was mass communication then. Still very good advise you gave here and hopefully many will take your advise.
I have a question what community neighbor hood is nearest to the school we are PCS in fort wainwright next month I really need to find house nearest I can get because my kids loves to walk … thanks in advance I love ur videos
Rent on post has changed but it is dependent on BAH provided by the army at the time. Our home was 3 bedrooms. But it was VERY spacious. I mean best housing we have ever lived in on post. Much cheaper to be on post in alaska. It’s not financially worth it off
I didn’t expect your quick response. I really appreciate. My husband is an officer and I will be giving birth in two months plus two small pets. I looked up the townhouse with yard near the base and seems like management have change and rent is too expensive just for 3 bedroom apartment. I’m not sure if the utilities are included though. How much were you renting at that time? How long did you have to wait? Were you allowed to choose a specific unit or just accept whatever is availble? Thanks again.
@@colyrusvenia3970 so north haven is the housing on base and they can’t charge above what BAH is.. but they do take full BAH. it’s 3 bedroom but it’s a large home. You won’t be able to find something worth it off base in a safe area and will have to pay out of pocket above BAH. We received housing pretty quickly after arriving on base. You just add your name to the wait list ASAP and housing handles it. Took us maybe 2 weeks of waiting. I was also pregnant when we moved with two animals and labor & delivery on fort wainwright is 10/10! Hopefully that helps ease the stress of delivering there! I know I had some lol but they really are great
@@colyrusvenia3970 I believe they bump you down if you deny your unit. With that being said I’d stick with an open mind. The housing for officers there is 10/10. If you get tanana the houses there are massive
