Happy Day! Very successful jump through the Sierras into Yosemite. Dry ground walking had to be exhilarating! Nice distance today. Appears like "early to bed, early to rise" is still the mantra. Exciting!! Thanks and best...pops
If it ain't broke, don't fix it!! Even now, I'm still keeping somewhat true to this approach, albeit now to avoid the heat more than the slop of mushy snow!
You got your buddies tapping the signs now too! 😄 And Shade’s baby comment was too funny. Gorgeous views!! And there’s actually dirt and grass for some parts of the day!
They were into it (the tapping!), Shade is ridiculous, dirt is MAGICAL, and the deer-- apparently they seek out the spring for all of its minerals, etc. Not sure about burping though!
I stayed at Parsons Lodge when I skied across the Sierras in the 90's. So good seeing YOSE again. Look forward to the rest of YOSE. Relieved to see bare ground.
wow that is some different view of Lyell!! / crazy you are not able to do the traditional stop in toulumne meadows grill and store with all this snow// muddy but it is melting hooray !! should be ok by the time i get there in sept... since i couldnt make it to meet you i sent a little more $ (looks like i was in the desert when you got to KMN anyway)... ill pass by there next week and see if anyone needs help or a soda or whatever/ finally time for my long trip around the Parks hooray/ have a great hike ill catch up in about 2 weeks.... The Bridges!! man such a nice spot you saw how close to the road, we stop by there regularly... so nice to see you in Yosemite, thanks for taking us with you... oh ps because the road is closed, lower parts of Yosemite: up to 4 hour wait to get in lately!! insane!! glad you got ion the "easy" way hahaha / and yes they are south on JMT
You mentioned in this vlog or possibly the one prior that you are now using some thin gloves and Vaseline to remoisturize your hands. Bag Balm is a good product for that purpose as well. It contains petrolatum, lanolin (watch out for dogs; they love to lick you when you apply anything with lanolin), paraffin and a mild antiseptic to aid in healing. You can also use it on your lips. It is sold in small tubes as well as the more traditional tin. Works great!
Love this one! The music the commentary and the trials and tribulations. How do you follow the trail when you’re on those high elevation snow fields? I don’t see any markers etc.
95%+ of the Sierra this year was route finding. I read topo maps, look for the north star, read ranges and ridgelines, and mind the orientation of my shadow.
@@travelinbeat that’s pretty awesome. Keep up the great work we really enjoyed your videos and the two great people you’re hiking with. You were really lucky with that choice.
Beautiful country, that river sure looked nice. That snow has to be getting old by now. Will you sleep a little longer when you are sure the snow hiking is over?
❤️❤️❤️❤️ just awesome documentary. Hope you put it all together at the end. I’ll happily enjoy watching it all 🍿🥤 I also wish I was there. I’m more of short section hiker. Only in my dreams ( or vlogs) will I hike the Sierras, or any mountain range😅😅
I'm very glad to bring you along for this adventure, albeit in an abbreviated capacity! Just enjoy your bed and fridge, goodness knows I'm similarly jealous of those!!
Just think about it, only a few more miles, a few mountains, a few mosquitos, a few river crossings, a few thunderstorms, and lots of days of pure joy! Good vibes dudes and dudette, take care, Crackerjack.
The variety of terrain is tremendous. I’m not sure how you get up every day and do it all over again, but I would bet knowing that you are part of a group and you’re depending on each other helps a lot. Hike on!
So glad you're enjoying the tunes!! Unfortunately I am uncertain of this song-- I use a service called Epidemic Sound and I predownload hundreds of songs before starting the hike
