8:47 Lucky chance to be in a National Park, when it's not overrun with people. 😎👍

Oh man for SURE! I know the snow is too much for most folks, but boy if it doesn't pay dividends with the seclusion it brings!!

Happy Day! Very successful jump through the Sierras into Yosemite. Dry ground walking had to be exhilarating! Nice distance today. Appears like "early to bed, early to rise" is still the mantra. Exciting!! Thanks and best...pops

If it ain't broke, don't fix it!! Even now, I'm still keeping somewhat true to this approach, albeit now to avoid the heat more than the slop of mushy snow!

Absolutely stunning! Must feel good having some dirt to walk on for a change.

You got your buddies tapping the signs now too! 😄 And Shade’s baby comment was too funny. Gorgeous views!! And there’s actually dirt and grass for some parts of the day!
@SmilesforMiles7

Also, very cool you got to see that big bear! I wonder if the deer that drink from the soda springs go around burping a lot? Lol
@travelinbeat
@travelinbeat Год назад
They were into it (the tapping!), Shade is ridiculous, dirt is MAGICAL, and the deer-- apparently they seek out the spring for all of its minerals, etc. Not sure about burping though!

I stayed at Parsons Lodge when I skied across the Sierras in the 90's. So good seeing YOSE again. Look forward to the rest of YOSE. Relieved to see bare ground.

You mentioned in this vlog or possibly the one prior that you are now using some thin gloves and Vaseline to remoisturize your hands. Bag Balm is a good product for that purpose as well. It contains petrolatum, lanolin (watch out for dogs; they love to lick you when you apply anything with lanolin), paraffin and a mild antiseptic to aid in healing. You can also use it on your lips. It is sold in small tubes as well as the more traditional tin. Works great!

Love this one! The music the commentary and the trials and tribulations. How do you follow the trail when you’re on those high elevation snow fields? I don’t see any markers etc.
@travelinbeat
@travelinbeat Год назад
95%+ of the Sierra this year was route finding. I read topo maps, look for the north star, read ranges and ridgelines, and mind the orientation of my shadow.
@WingerKen

Beautiful country, that river sure looked nice. That snow has to be getting old by now. Will you sleep a little longer when you are sure the snow hiking is over?

❤️❤️❤️❤️ just awesome documentary. Hope you put it all together at the end. I’ll happily enjoy watching it all 🍿🥤 I also wish I was there. I’m more of short section hiker. Only in my dreams ( or vlogs) will I hike the Sierras, or any mountain range😅😅

The variety of terrain is tremendous. I’m not sure how you get up every day and do it all over again, but I would bet knowing that you are part of a group and you’re depending on each other helps a lot. Hike on!
