More surface hardness combined with higher melting point is actually better for sanding, not worse! I would love to have more infos on potential VOCs because this sounds like ABS filament if it was good 😂
You're absolutely right! Higher surface hardness and melting point can really enhance the sanding process. I’ll definitely look into the VOCs and share more insights soon!
Another filament that may change the scene is TPU that can have 87 shore D, HDT >100C and shrinkage 0,1-0,3% depending on fibers content. Can be printed even in cold garage 10C and cold bed.
At this point i am HEAVILY doubting this aint AI generated bullshit. ..."its harder to drill and sand because its harder than PLA" is the type of bullshit chatgpt throws at you. Nope. Too soft is frankly worse than too hard, if you want to mill, drill, or sand it. As it gums up everythign.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts! It’s important to discuss these nuances when it comes to 3D printing materials. Your feedback really helps deepen the conversation!
Sorry that its coming across this way, yes, I use AI to help speed up some of my processes, the voiceover is a clone of my voice to help speed up my editing
One thing you forgot to mention here is that PCTG is more than twice the price of PETG. Unless there is a very special needs for your part, I think sticking with PETG would be more sensible.
@@thebulldog3d: this ist Not true. PCTG costs 30€/kg which is quite a bit more than for PETG. And i tried IT half year ago instead of ASA. I have Not an enclosure for my printer, but IT Support thebhigher temps on nozzle an bed. I was surprise about the results. My step son created a Propeller for a wind mill and IT worked very good.
Wow. Wish I had known about this before a project I just finished where clarity was a factor. I might have to call the guy and tell him we need to do a redo!! Great video.
Glad you liked the video and found it helpful and useful, here are some other resources about PCTG, to make sure its the right material for your project www.cnckitchen.com/blog/essentium-pctg-review www.reddit.com/r/BambuLab/comments/1bsidso/pctg/ azurefilm.com/2023/10/12/pctg-filaments-everything-you-need-to-know/ nexa3d.com/blog/pctg-vs-petg-whats-the-difference/
yeah, needing an enclosure is to help maintain correct temperatures while printing, there are more and more enclosed printers coming to market, typically over time, just like bed slingers, the price will keep creeping down
@TS_Mind_Swept if it's not touching anything there's no problem. Cardboard catches fire at working temperature of pc which is the most common material used to make enclosures. As for not being able to see inside... If you can't figure out how to make a window in cardboard...
Hi @OnceinaSixSide, unfortunately this is a stock piece of film that I purchased, I don't know the details of how that is setup, if I work it out, I'll be sure to make a video about it though
@@thebulldog3d there is literally one manufacturer (in the world?). And after more than a year since first mention of ptcg there is still no one else to produce it.
Hi @binariti, please see the link to 3dJake for various brands of PCTG (I have no affiliation or affiliate links with 3DJake) www.3djake.com/3d-printer-filaments/pctg-filament
Thanks for sharing your thoughts! All comments are welcome, even if they are not on a positive note, it all helps me understand what resonates with people watching, and what I need to work on to improve
There were a number of articles that go into a lot more detail than I could answer www.cnckitchen.com/blog/essentium-pctg-review www.reddit.com/r/BambuLab/comments/1bsidso/pctg/ azurefilm.com/2023/10/12/pctg-filaments-everything-you-need-to-know/ nexa3d.com/blog/pctg-vs-petg-whats-the-difference/
There is no real improvement in PCTG over PETG for the common man. PCTG is usually more expensive. People who really need to use this type of material already know all about it so I am not sure who this video is made towards. 90% of all people still use trash PLA.
I appreciate your perspective! It’s true that material choices can vary widely based on individual needs and applications. PCTG does have its niche, but I understand why many stick with PLA and PETG for everyday use.
@@georgeyboyhowe1685 It´s a non engineering grade, brittle material which can´t tolerate even temps in a car during summer. The only good PLA is a PLA blend with other materials.
@@sierraecho884 well.......actually PLA on it's own can be used in engineering aspects. I have personally printed GT2 Pulleys, sealchecker arms for packaging machines etc. I use anything from creality cr-10s printers right up to the Markforged X7's and they all run pla on different componentry as well as the more exotic materials like Onyx. Do some research before making uninformed comments. Jeez
Here are some articles pinned to the comments about PCTG www.cnckitchen.com/blog/essentium-pctg-review www.reddit.com/r/BambuLab/comments/1bsidso/pctg/ azurefilm.com/2023/10/12/pctg-filaments-everything-you-need-to-know/ nexa3d.com/blog/pctg-vs-petg-whats-the-difference/
would to be nice to see something from that material u are talking about..not same video all over again u have used the last few videos back..kind of boring and lazy. dunno if the man talking is a man or is it just AI or something..sounds exactly the same lvl in tone all the way..
Thanks for your comment! It's always interesting to dive into comparisons like these. I appreciate your curiosity! I have not looked into Tritan filament yet
This is definitely an AI voice over. Kinda whack but not every channel is going to be putting out well produced content. read about it on your own is my advice to myself.
This is an AI Clone of my Voice, seems that if I want to use that again in the future, I'll need to train it some more, I'll stick to my own recordings from now on, thank you for letting me know, I also have links to other articles about PCTG pinned in the comments
@@thebulldog3d I understand, improving on this would definitely helpful for viewers like me that enjoy the personality of the creators, Best to you. Subscribed.
Unfortunately, yes, PCTG is expensive, I feel that it is geared more towards specific use cases, however, as with most things, the more its purchased the cheaper it will get, much like PLA, this was expensive several years ago, in comparison its pretty cheap now
@mikelaurie3850 I'm sorry to hear that the voice was not that great, this is a clone of my voice, taken from several samples, hoping to speed up some of the editing process, in my more recent videos, I changed to my actual voice for the voice over recordings, and will continue that way onwards
