To answer your question on how dark it is, on the surface it’s lighthearted. When you look at character backstory, dialogue and the final bosses spewing blood. It’s dark.

Yeah, Kirby may be a friend-shaped pink ball, but if you look at his rogue’s gallery, you’ll understand that he’s easily one of the strongest heroes in Nintendo’s lineup, if not one of the strongest heroes in fiction. There’s a damn good reason he’s been called the “super tough pink puff” and the “Pink Demon”…Christian he may be, but he’s a damn GODSLAYER.
Kirby games most of the time start out nice and innocent, and end with you fighting interdimensional demons. For example, you start Squeak Squad looking for your stolen cake, and end it fighting the ruler of the underworld. So yeah, they absolutely can get dark, a casual player might not notice though.
Kirby is the most family friendly game ever. Until you do a deep dive. The completion content is how you do a deep dive into Kirby. The lore is like a rainbow onion. There are so many layers, and you might not be so happy with what you find if you keep digging. The completion content is eldritch without exception. I'm talking 'old god' type horror. Then, when you see the kind of stuff that counts for eldritch in the Kirby-verse, you might come to the correct conclusion on your own, but maybe not. The hard truth is that Kirby himself is one of the spawn of Terminus. As a matter of fact he might be the greatest of Terminus' spawn, considering how alike they look when you peel back all the layers of Terminus' being and see its core. Terminus is the 'true enemy' of Star Allies, and canonically the source of all the 'true enemies' in the series. Makes Kirby's black hole stomach that allows him to assimilate anything he eats less innocent when you realize he's literally a world eater.

You’d understand the TerminalMontage lore better if you watched the videos in order. Sadly enough, you started at the end, so I can see the habit of you getting confused when going through the lore in reverse. It’s fine tho.
