Here is a video of the PDP Concept double pedal with bearing failure due to poor design. These are pedals I saw at Guitar Center. I do not own these pedals and do not recommend them.

This happened on my Speed Cobra too. Can happen to any pedal

Nothing is broken .... there is 2 set screw to tighten on the black uninon at left of the beater. Just add some blue locktite if they always become loose. If you are just a bit resourceful you can drill and tap for bigger set screw too...

If you dont own the pedals and your at guitar center of course its gonna be used. Its guitar center dude think about how many people have used those. But The pedals are good and I personally think you should get them but only on direct drive only! That's what the pedals were mostly designed for

I have like two months using these pedals (I bought them new) and it seems that something is getting loose there, I hope is not something serious. Very stable and solid pedals, just need to fix this weird behavior. I have used dw4000, dw5000 and dw7000 pedals before and I can say this pedals are good, for what you pay (around 200 dlls), very adjustable

I will say that these are some good pedals but with anything you purchase, always check fittings and structure. I just picked up one for a spare and it plays good. It does have a little play in it but its because of the pedal design...hey...its a 90 dollar pedal. Wouldve been good if the drive chain could be adjustable... but overall a good pedal.

I have two pair of these double pedals. I like the action, it's great, but the wiggle between the beaters is ridiculous. The lack of an inner brace (an integral part of the DW 5000 doubles) on the main pedal makes all the difference. The Concept doesn't have the brace, and that's where the wiggle happens. Nice pedal for the money, but poor design, imo.

I'd like to take a moment to respond to this post. It is true, if the Concept double pedal was NOT assembled correctly, and the fittings are not tightened appropriately, this failure WILL happen. However, the one I bought was as tight as a nun's toaster, and this does not happen with MY Concept double pedal at ALL. Now, are there better double pedals out there? You bet. Are there better double pedals out there for THIS price? Not really. I would suggest if your concept dbl pedal does this kid of wiggle, take it back. But mine arrived working just fine. I think this guy just got a bad one. But you know what they say: DW stands for "Doesn't Work" - the first thing I do with MY DW drums is replace their cruddy bass drum spurs. Pearl Master Series are MUCH better, IMO. Good luck!

+Malcolm Bliss Malcolm, thanks for commenting on the pedals. Just so you know, I do not own these pedals. I looked in to them a long time ago, but always felt that there was a design flaw with them. When I finally saw these pedals in person at Guitar Center, that is when I took this video. I was very disappointed to see this bearing failure happen, but not surprised to see it. As for double pedals in this price range, if you do some hunting (and have patience) you can get top of the line pedals for ~$200 new. All of my double pedals (Tama IC 900, Pearl Eliminators, Mapex Falcons) have all been purchased new for no more than $200.

+Tom DeCoste Funny you should mention this, actually, as I bought a new PDP kit about 7 years ago, when the BOA pedal s came out. I bought a BOA hi hat, single kick & double kick. The double kick had a huge design flaw that made them withdraw it from the market (mine cost almost $500). But I found if the right beater was taken off and reattached in an opposing fashion, the flaw could be corrected. I sent my pedal back, they rebuilt it according to my spec's, and the problem was solved. I guess they weren't about to rebuild ALL BOA dbl pedals, as they took them off the market shortly after. Still, I really dug those BOAs. Except the hi hat was shit (2 legs never work). I just recently replaced the BOAs with these Concept longboards. Which aren't the greatest, but they'll do. At least I don't have to send them back to DW to be rebuilt. basically, DW for the most part is a WAY over rated drum company. Only their shells and tension rods are any kind of advantage;. Some day someone is going to make drum hardware that isn't shite. And on that day we shall all rejoice.... BTW, I paid $100 for my PDP Concept dbl pedal, new in the box (eBay, open box). So thats what I mean by 'price range'....

I think guitar center also puts damaged or corrupted items on display so they don't waste new ones.

I just a setup a pair of the direct drive double pedals and when I played them up, something didn't seem right. It felt "squishy". Upon inspection I noticed the linkage was bending like this. Quick search and it got me here. Mine are doing the same thing. I know these are "budget priced" however, it is still $240 and do not trust them to last very long. It is too bad, because I loved every thing else about them.

It looks over all beaten up like you havent taken good care of the pedals. Not really a great review on the pedals.

This wasn't a review on the pedals, nor are these mine. These were at a Guitar Center and I happened to walk over to check them out. After first seeing them online I had fears that the bearings would wear out due to poor design, and this video shows that those fears are a reality. Pedals are meant to be stepped and stomped on constantly. That's their job. This isn't a "care" issue. This is a design flaw.

Tom DeCoste You didnt put that in the description. When you play on a display set you would EXPECT people to without a care just fuck the pedal up. Take the video down or rename it. This is a bad vid. I purchased these pedals, play them every day, had em a year. No problem AT ALL, thanks for warranty too in case anything does.

These pedals are shit, they were the first double pedals I've ever gotten and I've had nothing but problems. Left one sliding away from me (even when it was on a drum rug) and now my left beater just doesn't wobble even though I tightened the spring all the way, similarly to this video the bar area is all wobbly and fucked up. I strongly recommend everyone to stay away from these shit pedals
