#NWS had a few missteps in this one. Watches should have been issued long before the warnings came out.

They were issued before and the NWS SPC had been mentioning severe weather in Chicagoland for a few days.

@@PiggyPorkchop casual mentioning is no substitute for hard watches. These storms had tornadic histories in Iowa. That should have been enough for watches to be issued.

www.spc.noaa.gov/products/watch/ww0297.html A watch was issued at 9:30 PM though ones were issued for other portions of the state before that.

@@PiggyPorkchop the first watch was issued at virtually the same time as the first storms hit. That’s not good.
