@@bastih9816 no b/c his teachings are a part of me now. he often makes a joke asking why people still go to watch him if they already know the teachings. lol.
I love his videos. His messages are so profound. He has changed my life. I'm more at peace, compassionate and happier now, thanks to him. I love you Ajahn Brahm. You are awesome!
I’ve fallen “in love” about 5 times ...😂🤪🤣😝 The search for “human love” is because we’re dissatisfied {not happy} with our present situation. Trying to change the unhappiness to happiness. And that’s where the problem arises. If you learn to just stay with the unhappiness the real happiness comes into being. Isn’t that something. It took 63 years to learn it. But I’m happy!!! 🤗🤗🤗
I don't know how I stumbled on to this, I've never seen or heard of this channel/person before It was one of the most profound videos I've ever heard in my life
"You don't strive to get rid of pain - you let go of striving. You let go of craving. And a wonderful thing happens when the craving disappears - pain is. Happiness is. Suffering is. But underneath it all is peace... Arguing with life just makes life a problem."
I agree with at least one talk a day. Often I feel like I can sit down and listen to him ALL DAY. Buddist teaching has meant a lot to me and keeps on keeping me on the best place I been on for quite some time. AMEN
I have such a respect and admiration for this Mr. Monk :P I learnt such new and profound things last night while watching him and truly came to realize that the true gift of it all is found once you are capable of and able of controlling your thoughts and bringing out peace from within :) Thank you for doing what you do to make the world a better place :) **
Thank you for this new clip. Make peace with life and stop fighting it. Powerful hour as they always are. Can't imagine and don't want to imagine a day without listening to Ajahn Brahm. Victoria
Thank you so much for love and light. You make me think... More then I want to at times, to be honest but I need it and even out of my comfort. You were made this way for a reason. I am not a religious person to make that statement clear. I am just someone looking outside the box of life and want to fight the inner negative and make it positive. The way you come across to me, I can just see amazing love and I am so amazed by your words. I take them in and thank you. I am sorry if this is jumbled but I have good reason to be apprehensive but yet wanting to hear more and think more. Just thank you. That was what I wanted to say over all. I do want to keep learning from you for my mental stability and making the lives I have made and the lives I have touched too overall. I have failed and been judged and I am learning. Thank you. I am an avid listener of yours. Please keep it coming :) I know you will
+natacha vinette I am 29 and to be honest I have had bad self esteem and anxiety and on Disability for it. I would lose so much just to feel happiness. I see all my babies grow and my husband happy for his life with me. I just want to feel. You have opened my eyes my dear. Thank you.
Thank you for your wisdom- I never thought of the difference between Happiness and Peace. I'm looking forward to find that stillness and calmness in meditation.
Wow ! AB, you tore up your degrees from Cambridge. That has to be one of the greatest fetters to cut off and you did it. I hope to be like you some day.
Happiness is in the Field of Relativity, the 5% we can see. Peace is in the Quantum Field, the 95% of the Universe that is the dark energy and dark matter. What a difference.
Breath, heart beat, digestion is where Creator God the Universe lives who created me and is here now. I am the middle path between all opposites. Seek the middle path.
Agreed with the positive happy 🎉habit is Buddism Darham, also bringing sunshine to my cloudy days and nights as well Amen, and as my daughter's famous words of hers whenever she left a place PEACE OUT !!!!!!!!!
The forest is always coming into being and going out of being. Peace is the middle path between coming into being and going out of being. Peace transcends the extremes of right and wrong, left and right, up and down, in and out, the middle path. Transcend. Peace transcends happiness.
Peace “is” the Highest Happiness! I just got this statement. I get it! { in other words, the mountain peak is Peace and everything below it is simply ordinary happiness ... the striving and all the doing that makes one happy. }
I love the practical nature of buddhism and its altruistic nature, and it has learned much about humanities everyday experiences. But one of the problems that i have with Buddhism, is its ideological goal to achieve non existence, to not be reborn. Its the same sense as any Abrahamic based religion, only in heaven will you be truly free. Why are religions so obsessed with death being more important than life. They do not seem to ever appreciate life, with all its up and downs and connections. Its all about escape. Wake up religious people! Life is a random beautiful and sometimes terrifying gift. But it is a gift no less. We spend more time dead than alive. So treasure life and spread compassion and peace to all that you can x
This is an interesting view. Have you ever read Nietszche? :) I think he had some same critiques towards religions as you, especially in Thus spoke Zarathustra. Thank you for sharing your viewpoint. May I ask if you still think this way, since it has been 4 years since you wrote this comment? :)
@@july7578 hi, i think im a bit more chill about things now lol. If religions helps you, then that is fine. But in the end all religions are just fingers pointing to the same source of universal, metaphysical, and quantum energies connection source. I personally see religions as people playing a game whilst following different paths made up rules. I see the games, i see the players, I see the eternal second that binds us all, in the dance of entropy. but most can’t even see that they are playing a game, and get annoyed with others if they can see beyond their limited game and its rules. I think religions main purpose is to bring a sense of stability and guidance, in an unstable world and conscious reality. One of my slight other interesting issues, is that a lot of religions pray for someone else to help them and help the world. When in fact, we are the thing that was sent to earth to help each other and the world. I shall use the term God for ease of understanding. We all have gods eyes to see, and gods voice to speak, we hear with gods ears, and touch with gods touch. We are creations of the whole and the whole is what we are created from, so inturn we are the thing that we seek. I believe in compassion for all, and altruistic actions :)
@@LunaReign when reading your comment I see that you are a very perceptive person! Your answer has a lot of depth to it. I agree in most what you wrote there, especially concerning religions. The way I see is problemstic that religions want to put things in boxes and keep to their religious dogma and theb view everyone else as erring in their beliefs or toughts, when in reality everything is the same and connected (God / Source). I believe religions are just interpretations of that and God is inherently greater, maybe something we humans cannot understand completely (although we get glimpses of it from time to time). but I also see some things a little bit differently, what you wrote there. I believe God is greater than our small, fragile egos who want to control everything. To truly submit to the Divine Will or Order of things is to have trust in God. That, in a sense humbles you. But I also believe we can and may ask things from God in prayer. Praying is a powerful way of communicating with God, because you get to be 100% honest with God and in the end, God is in control. Yes, we have a part to play in this Divine Play but we are not the master of it.
@@july7578 some great points there. I dont believe that we are masters over god, but we are pieces of god. We are created from god, held by the parameters of gods existence. But mainstream religion has convinced the general populous that they are separate from god, so they can be controlled and influenced, and sometimes even pay to go into a ‘holy’ building. When in fact, everything and everywhere is existence is a holy place, as it all is a part of god. There is no separation from god, the idea of separation is a tool devised by human ego, to control and dominate. I am talking about to submission and assimilation with the true essence of every second of existence, not master over or ego :)
Transcendent God is the recently discovered Quantum Field, the dark matter and dark energy that is 95% of the Universe where Creator God is the oneness of the Universe. I am the breath and this creator god. I survived go home and die cancer. I am thankful to be alive. Thank you creator god. Thank you surgeons.
Ajahn Brahm, you are great. I first heard your talk on video taken in Singapore. I hope I can have a chance to meet you in Person one day if god permits....Thanks
Th Westminster Abbey in London was my ' sanctuary '...Every once in a while I would get the ' urge' to go there and spend some time in one of the chapels..and I thought I was weird ...Haha
The energy is from the Quantum Field where Creator God exists for real. Dark energy, dark matter. You know what I mean Ajahn Brahm with your degree. Creator God IS this quantum field that binds us all together as one.
Peace is neutral. Happiness is positive and negative, back and forth, with judgement. Peace transcends hot and cold, good and bad, right and wrong. Transcend.
2 years ago I was going to get a divorce. I was so happy because when you no longer get along with each other go and separate. Didn't have to. My husband got into accident went under a truck died instantly. I felt sad he died that way but yes I was free. My husband was a kind of person that everyone thought he was enoying.
Was there something wrong with my download and/or buffer that there was a big skip @about 45:00, or did everyone else see that as well? (Great talk, btw!)
It says "be still and know I am God." I wish it was direct enough to say "be still and know that thou art God"... There's a lot in the Bible that points to where Buddhism points, especially among that attributed to Jesus.
Again another Buddhist validate their belief with the bible. Jerseys does not seem Like someone who attained awakening as per Eastern philosophy. And Buddhist do not even believe in God, which is wise. If you respect Buddhism stop validating it with Jesus. And what did Jesus actually teach? Did not teach how to meditate, did not teach yoga, did not teach about the physiology of the soul, nothing. All he gave were commandments. Did he really exist?
+Always-Stay-Positive Wrong assumption. Not Buddhist validating with Christianity. Just observing what looks to be common. From our perspective, we don't know if Buddha or Jesus existed. We only have what others wrote of their teachings. We have to do as Buddha taught, which is to test the teachings out for ourselves and assess them ourselves. The Buddha didn't stand as an authority. He made the seeker his own authority. As for Jesus, let's just say he wasn't a "christian" and he didn't preach what we know now as "christianity."
paytontech Okay, but to be honest, what did Jesus know? And what did he actually teach? Yes, he gace commandments "believe and love God", etc, but everyone gives such advice. What did he know better than Plato, Achimedes, Pythagoras, etc.
Always-Stay-Positive So... I acknowledged that Jesus pointed in the same direction as the Buddha. You respond by judging me as being a Buddhist trying to validate my Way with Christianity and questioning Jesus' existence. I reply neither Jesus nor the Buddha, from our perspective, can be confirmed. Finally, you back up the original point I made (Jesus did point in a similar direction with the great commandments "Love God and Love others as oneself") but you dilute it by devaluing the teachings of Jesus.... Something is odd here. Can you see it? Is this how you "always stay positive"? Is this how a Buddhist is to conduct himself? I have more than enough reservations about Christianity but even I can be honest in dealing with the subject of Jesus. Fact is, I have a greater bias towards Buddhism. Yet I don't thoughtlessly devalue the good in other traditions. How about you delineate the major teachings of Jesus and point to where they're the same as those other gods (who learned from other cultures by the way). Back up your claims. I'm curious.
paytontech Jesus did not point anything toward the direction of the Buddha. And did he do that any more than Aristotle any historical philosopher who actually produced works that are now being used?
Hi A Jahn Brahm: If two women crazily love a man at the same time, but he can choose only one. How can he open his door to both women at the same time? What will he do?
Where would I be these these pearls from Ajahn Brahm .Straightforward commonsense stuff but imparte.d in a unique compellingand magnetic speaking manner not withstanding his somewhat bland west London accent. His talks are my go to pills whenevrr my mood needs bolstering z(nearly daily sometimes)❤Long ay they cascade! Lo Ok 😂
How am I supposed to win an audition if I I don't get people to like my performance? It seems like this monk defies all logic, and yet I know he must be right somehow.
There is nothing wrong in asking how something is beneficial? It is by assumption that this comment was taken to be a negative wherefore I feel it could be either or and therefore you deserve the benefit of the doubt** Have you since found any benefit?
Why have to go cold forest to look for peace? If you really have peace, it inside you, regardless where you are, busy street or inside thick wall church
In my opinion, once you developed inner peace, those things does not matter. But if you are "training", you have to help yourself with adequate conditions. It is like when you learn a new sport, you do not just start playing in professional conditions. You start learning the basics in more friendly environments. I think that is one of the reasons that monks train in the forest.
Not sure why "cold", but he goes into the forest, not to look for peace, as there is no "looking", but because it is part of the Theravada Tradition, the Thai Forest Tradition. For their level of contemplation, it is important. A life of renunciation and discipline requires a proper environment. Wilderness has always been a source for great spirituality and it is also something that The Buddha did. Which these monks who are part of this branch of Buddhism are emulating.
Sometimes the teaching of Ajahn Brahm contradict with his own teaching in other videos. In one of the video he says that there is nothing to learn from the past, we can only learn from the present. And yet in most of the videos he asked us to dig the past use the past as the fertilizer and make it make you a good human being with compassion, with lesson learnt. I'm so confused?
When he says you cannot learn from the past, he is undoubtedly speaking about meditation. Dude, try to hear the message instead of just listening to words 🙏
"Bodhisattva sacrifices himself for others". WTF? No he doesn't. A Bodhisattva first reaches enlightenment for himself, and then only help others. Looks like Ajahn Brahm forgot that this isn't Christianity again.
