You have filled my days with wonder and beauty for the Garden I am creating ( at an incredibly slower pace) and inspiration for all the wonderful things possible. This video was the perfect last video for my night here in Queensland Australia and was like a fairytale story laid out for me to dream with through the night. Oh my gosh, what a thrill to see you make pasties!! My grandparents were born in England. My grandfather was a miner and my grandmother would make him pasties, wrap them in a linen napkin and put it in his pocket. I remember helping cut onions, potatoes and carrots. Sometimes rutabaga, most of us kids didn’t like so carrots for us. Boy, this brought back a flood of wonderful memories! Your pasties look delicious. Merry Christmas 🎄

Cornish Tin Miners we’re fed on Cornish pasties with fruit in one end so they could have a meal and dessert in one while working. An extra pastie dough within the pastie kept the dessert edge separate from the meat and vegetables side.

This video was so relaxing to watch. Love seeing the real life moments. We have a pretty small garden but I do understand the feeling you were talking about of being able to cook a meal made with the vegetables you grew. Just being able to go out to the garden and pick it or dig it up. Have a very Merry Christmas!

One of the many reasons why I love this channel is how much it changes as the seasons change. Slow and creative in the fall and winter, and fast and informed in the spring and summer.

Lovely! I hope to have a bigger garden in the next year or so to be able to make more meals from our homegrown produce. I’m very familiar with the Cornish pasties you made! Where I grew up in northeastern MN the pasty is a traditional immigrant meal from Cornwall. The Cornish men and women brought the recipe with them when the came to work in the iron mines. They had been tin miners in Cornwall and came to America for a better life. The pasty was a common meal made for the miners with a thick edge crust to hold when they ate it. They would throw the thick crust away because it would be dirty from mine dust. It’s been years since I had a pasty! I think I’ll pick some up this Christmas when I go home to visit 😊

Pasties are a treat, I've had them in Michigan where they are very common. A bit of history for Benjamin- pasties were eaten by coal miners since they were easy to pack for lunch and can also be eaten cold if there is no way to warm them up. I hope they turned out delicious, you can also freeze them and heat them up when you're short on time. Hope you all have a wonderful Christmas. Love from Minnesota!

I recently looked up some natural remedies for high blood pressure. How interesting to find "watching Laura's videos on RU-vid" on the list! Okay, well, it's on my own list, at least. 🙂Thank you for a beautiful and relaxing video--can't wait to try the pasties in my own kitchen.

Such a sweet, heartwarming glimpse into an idyllic day at your home. It was also wonderful to see a Northern Michigan staple, the pastie featured in your cooking. It has it roots feeding the copper miners of the UP. I am sure you are familiar with them from your visits to Mackinac. Feel free to load them up with filling the next time you make them and add a side of gravy.

I love cooking like this when I have everything I need on hand and the inspiration to try something that looks yummy. I can imagine the satisfaction it gives you when you are using everything (pretty much) that you grew or know how it was raised, too.

These Pasties are from the Copper Country. Upper Michigan. They served as an easy meal for the Copper Miners to bring to work. We eat them with ketchup on them 😆 I see you ate yours plane. When I moved to the Western side of the U S...I learned many had Never heard of a Pastie!!
