Our biggest TOMCAT PTO-driven wood chipper just absolutely devouring these hard peach trees. This peach orchard is taken out as it wasn't producing as well in this specific spot and will be replaced with apple trees. The old trees are chipped up to be used as compost and mulch once the new trees are planted. Re-using wood by means of chipping is a common practice by most farmers in the Western Cape of South Africa. Burning the trees is harmful to the environment and seen as a waste.
The TOMCAT Model 250 AFP is the largest PTO-driven unit in our locally manufactured drum-style wood chipper range specifically built to meet all your farm chipping requirements. It is driven by a 70Hp Lamborghini tractor which means it is light on fuel while giving extremely good production. An ULTRA-WIDE in-feed opening allows operators to chip material with side branches, reducing prep time. Two extremely powerful and sharp feed rollers fitted with PARKER hydraulic motors bite into material ensuring optimum production. The chipper and tractor are protected by an electronic reversing auto-feed system which ensures that the machine cannot be over-fed. The hydraulic lift cylinder gives the operator the ultimate control-improving efficiency by crushing side branches and allowing the top feed roller to climb onto large logs with ease. The 250 AFP wood chipper can be supplied on a 3-point base plate or on a 40kmph trailer with leaf springs. The foldable feed tray comes standard and assists the operator to place large amounts of small material into the opening of the wood chipper while creating a safer working distance.
