I feel like the training concepts are sound, but Peaches could use some more basics. He seemed a bit confused at even the simple act of going out onto a circle. Also, bungees can be helpful but using them without doing the extensive strength building to make it possible for those muscles to be used effectively will still result in a weak and hollow horse. I'd recommend watching some videos by Ryan Rose for easy ground work basics and videos by Equine Helper for strength building! Both are free and on RU-vid. Good look on your riding journey!!
You spent hours with your boys and still do. Lily has been and is the heart of your livestock operation. Two days a week with your only girl doing the thing that she absolutely loves is not too much to ask. I really get a bad vibe from you with this. Especially when I know how you faun over your "men". C'mon dad. Be fair. I expected more of you. Look what Gideon gets away with. Lily has been a Saint by comparison.
Justin is in his comfort zone raising boys as they are easy. ( I have 3 full grown myself) Girl(s) seem to intimidate Justin and many of us men because they are hard, emotionally deep, and often prismatic entities, but Justin is learning they are a joy to raise as well. The deeper the challenge, the greater the reward. (I have 2 myself)
He stresses over being away from home more than most people do when it's not his idea....so it's definitely a stretching situation for him as an individual, as well as a parent/business owner.
Omg someone please stop this horrible woman from thinking she can train horses!!!!! Tying his head down because she has no understanding of proper training!!!! The horse is U neck from bad riding from the terrible hands of that child. This just makes me feel sick to watch. And all those commenting and saying how good this is….. dont understand REAL horsemanship. This is just a joke.
This makes me sad. I’m sorry but any trainer that resorts to gadgets and restraints is 👎 I hope that in time Lily, as you grow up, you’ll learn that this is not the way. There’s a better way. Check out Warwick Schiller.
The trainer said that Peaches still needs to have that rearing behavior trained out of him, I think this is a stopgap for Lily’s safety until Peaches learns and Lily has more control over him. She’s 12!
Lily is so comfortable with her horses. She knows so much about loading and unloading them that it seems effortless. I'm so proud of her attention and attitude as she works with her horses. I enjoyed this training video. Thank you very much. Thanks for sharing. 😊
If your horses are weird, it's probably Spooking, or the golf is too tight rubbing. Buckingham could be a load of things. But just gonna put down some that the Stuff number one is that the guff is too tight or heid1878 S excited or he wants you to get off.But yeah you're my favourite youtuber anyway
Exactly forcing. Submit. Why???? You can teach them to do it naturally. Stopped watching after she started lunging. Such an better and more natural approach for all of it.
@jeanneshannon5607 creating a false frame with tie downs. Not noticing that the horse is not tracking up. Not noticing it's lame. Asking for it to work in a frame when she herself said it's lacking strength and top line
Lily can't even get the ponies head down.just remember peaches will be sore using all them muscles.and anybody can tie a horses head down.lily needs more knowledge. This horse will know who is riding him in seconds
My brother bought three horses for his daughter and himself. One was a beautiful buckskin named Buck. They soon found out his color wasn’t why he was called Buck. My niece rode Buck and he Bucked her off. She ended up with an injured arm. A horse can perform perfectly for an expert rider but take advantage of less experienced rider.
it should work just fine, especially with the ponies getting more time out on grass. when he spent time alone he was upset, then when he got Blaze for company he got very obsessive of him. You will need a mix of working time together and apart for them, it will work out. Training will also help with Lily's confidence- alot of confidence is just familiarilty with repeated experieince. I think Lily is growing also! have her teacher check her stirrup length, they seem a tad short.
I always thought Peaches could be verbally commanded. He just needed a stern teacher who wouldn't let him rebel. She is worth every penny she asks for. She is making Peaches safer for Lily and the family.
Everything that the trainer just said about round frame, top line and pulling up their abs is absolutely spot on. I know this training seems lengthy and is probably expensive, BUT worth every single penny. If Lily wants to progress in her riding, THIS is the kind of trainer you want to be under.
“ Someone got paid to do official research on patting or rubbing horses and resultant behaviours. They've concluded that patting is unnatural to horses while rubbing or scratching, particularly in the withers area is part of mutual grooming.” I keep coming across this information on various horsey sources. They seem to agree horses tolerate being “patted” but the don’t like it. The consensus seems to be rubbing, scratching feels better to them. What are y’all being told by your trainers and horse mentors? What does Peaches say? BTW Lilly is a joy to watch in her horse videos. She is a very quick learner, and explains herself very well 😁
Bucking ,rearing and poor body carriage and weight loss are all responses to pain ( assuming he had always had adequate feed). Id suspect teeth issues and or ulcers in gut..a vet check would be wise, hes not tracking up well and is resisting even with the bullying trainer hanging off his mouth ( in hand)
Blaze can carry a slightly higher head carriage as he is part hackney pony and has a different conformation of a neck set much higher on their shoulders.
IMHO. Idt the palomino should be pulled into a fake frame. Forcing her head into this is not on the bit developing her top line. She’s not engaging her hind end. I would start with long and low (she’ll get the feel of using her back muscles) until she puts some weight on and gets in better physical shape to start teaching to go on the bit and properly use her back
What an amazing trainer!Wow! I’m so impressed. Lily will be a master horse rider/trainer in no time! Awesome video! I learned so much about a horse in this video ! Makes you look at them totally differently now! What an amazing animal! ♥️🐎🐎
So this trainer seems like she knows what she's doing. Peaches needs better conditioning for sure, you could see that going downhill over time. I think if there had been a riding arena to begin with where Lily could work him without fearing being run away with across the pasture, that would have helped a lot - that is a tip for those considering horse ownership. They need a decent turn-out area and a safe riding arena and good nutrition. Even with a good trainer, Lily is quite inexperienced, relatively speaking, so this process is going to take time in order for her to regain her confidence and to learn some new ways to ride/train her horse. The really good thing is that Lily is smart and motivated and has a very positive attitude, so that will take her a long way. It also helps a lot that the parents are finally learning more about how this all works. Because this was not a horse savvy family to begin with, Lily had to make decisions about care and riding at home that ideally should have been made or in concert with someone more experienced, but kind of a case of you don't know what you don't know for the parents. It's really about providing a safe environment and not spending a lot of money on an endeavor you're not really ready for. I think there is good potential here for a positive outcome. Am very happy for Lily and where she is heading.
I really like your trainer Lily 💕 She is very good and I’ve seen and worked with my fair share. So great for you and your horses to have access to such expertise 💕
Bad idea be careful with running martingale and youth . Usually will always create more problems . That pony is for fun /extra for friends and pony rides . It’s not for new riders ❗️❗️
Lilly ❤ I love to hear you talk about your future with your horses. Jessica, Thank you for sharing the top line of a horse❤exercises and explaining Feed maybe Lily needs to also exercise ground work, with flexing the horse, making him bow, and running up those hills. Peach ❤ Blaze These videos will help you continue your journey on your riding abilities and horsemanship. I'm so glad y'all are documenting this. We have ours on VHS 😂 i'm the same way with lunging 😂 Jessica Have fun in those trails there always a peace of mind after a good ride in the arena
This trainer is very good! I really think part of the problem is that Lily is small and young. When I learned how to ride my trainer would tell me to pull those reins tight and work the horse in a spin! They hate that tight circle. I rode western style. I forgot about the kick! I had to learn to out-smart the horse! Don’t be afraid! I swear they can smell fear, and then they can win. They hate, hate that spin. You’re gonna be a great horseman Lily!!!
Nice job with the training.. Good job Lily with your confidence in riding! You and Peaches are becoming a good team together! You did well with Blaze as well! The only thing I would say when rewarding with praise.. Stroking the horses neck and body instead of patting,/ slapping them, like the trainer was doing at times, is way more effective. Stroking with a nice long pet...not patting them. Keep up the Awesome videos! I know all horse people have their opinions... Experience has its place and you are getting good instruction.. I've been riding all my life, 65yrs, & training most of my life.. Raised 40 foals and still have 3 horses, all siblings in my pasture, 24, 28 & 30 yrs young all related to first filly I raised in 1973, 51 yrs ago.. Horses are a lovely lifestyle when done effective for all to enjoy! Job well done Dad, Justin, spending quality time with your One & Only favorite Horse Crazy Daughter! This is all worth it! Looking forward to upcoming videos!
Please make sure your horses don't get to much grass.its better to go with great quality hay,low starch pellets if needed at all, beet pulp and a fat supplement.natural vit e,loose salt and minerals.onces your horses have laminitis or founder its nothing but a hassle.and deadly.keep on doing the good work
I see the passion in Lily's eyes for her love of horses. Mr. Rhodes, you are in trouble, sir. I see many horses in your future! Lol. And the love the name you guys came up with in the Lily Rhodes show. Grest job Lily keep it up.
Watch Lilly be as knowledgeable as this woman some day. See is a sponge and loves her horses so no doubt she will have her 15 someday as her parents have taught her to think in abundance. 😊
Lilly is being taught backwards. Trainer and student use way too much hand. Hands are last and you never pull. You don’t pull to stop your horse. Trainer needs to start teaching Lilly from the bottom of the scale. And learn proper lunging technique
It's like when we work or train for something it hurts and we don't want to do it especially too long So build thoes muscles up and he will be happy to do it all properly
There's something wrong with his left hind leg! Please get him checked out by the vet! That little girl is going to get hurt because of it! Oh my gosh?
That trainer absolutely knows her stuff. And Lily is an excellent student. I believe she will learn a lot and grow in accordance. You're awesome, Lily!

No wonder having horses is so expensive, they require a lot of equipment, techniques and care. You certainly have to love them to sacrifice your time and money to keep them at their best. Bless your heart Lily, for your love of horses, and you are very lucky to have such supportive parents. Thanks for sharing your experiences..❤
Fascinating! Good job mom and dad getting Lily a great trainer for Peaches. Lily is going to be a great horse woman because you gave her the tools to master her love of riding! She already has so much confidence, she will be managing Peaches a lot sooner than most kids her age!
I love that this trainer teaches peaches with compassion, and is not forceful AND that she has Lilly involved so she can take these tips home with her and work with peaches. You are absolutely doing the right thing. At the end of this peaches and Lilly’s relationship will grow into a real partnership 😊. Looking forward to seeing more ☺️
maybe (probably) my horses are fat, but those ponies look a little underweight to me? Lily is a natural horsewoman, I think she has some real natural talent, such great parents to support her passion, it will teach her so much about life, develop so many skills, lovely!
I sure hope you don't have to rehome peaches. I don't think it's his fault. All he needs is proper training and to build muscle. I totally agree with this trainer. He is not a dangerous horse, rather just doesn't know what he needs to do. Once he gets it I bet he will be phenomenal
Wonderful to watch the progress. Lily, shouldn't you be practicing all these skills on Blaze too as you watch? He would love to learn too, and you could teach them both.
2nd post wrong trainer ❗️❗️again check teeth . Horses do not need talking to its feeling . Arthritis ask a vet. A crop from behind the leg is important to engage the hind. Children should not use spurs . A kids horses should just be forward and willing. HUGE mistake horse friends should not have to leave each other on a trail. NEVER push a horse into frustration to make a training point. Peaches needs a bit better food, nutrition. Endless hay .
Lily needs to have stable hand and seat to collect the horse and be able to working on horse pulling. Otherwise she will be punishing horse and confusing every time she loses balance.
I’ve always loved horses and wanted a ranch so I could have wild mustangs run free on it. My dad always said no I couldn’t have a horse. Said they were hay burners. I’ve never gotten to ride one either. Now I can’t because my body is broken down. Lily you take really good care of your horses. I’ve learned a lot from the trainer myself. I think Peaches is a good boy. He just needs some guidance.
We always put the horses with the head in the direction we are travelling in.. we feel it is easyer for them to balance themselves during the ride.. I would ask about Lily's legs, I feel they are a bit to high.. maybe
🙋🏼♀️🕊.great day for you . We always have something to learn .along the way , you will make a horseman of your dad. 🐴🐎. Blessings.💞🕊💞🕊. You did a good job Dad by doing a lot of listening and video 💞🕊💞🕊
Well done Lily :) I'm excited to hear you talk about your goals of cross country & having more horses some day. ;) I agree with you 90-99% confident that Peaches will work on pleasing you more & he will be a great partner for all your adventures.
Wonder if the saddle is the problem. Often when a horse bucks etc is because the saddle hasn’t been fitted to the horse even if it is fretted to the rider 😊
I am thinking that Peaches was spooked at the electric fence, he seems pretty cautious about it at home and the trainer was walking along the E fence with the horse in it.
