Fabulous room. One of my must see places when in DC. Many do not know that Whistler's father was in the Rail Road business, with Ross Winans, Baltimore inventor and Rail Road industrialist. Both men spent much time selling and building Railroads in Russia. Whistler wanted to go to Europe for to expand his art knowledge. His father said he was not going to pay for a lark of his playboy son. But Ross Winans said yes, & paid for the trip.
