PEAK JOJO IS BACK!! The JOJOLands Chapter 10 Review 

A detail many reaction youtubers have missed is the fact that Paco protects Jodio from the sword with The Hustle, there's literally a whole page dedicated to showing the moment ;-;.

I do believe the stand does not have anything to do with clouds, really, and it's mostly just an illusion of transparency. The rocks reflect light in a way the user seems like he's not there, but rather than plain invisibility, it's more about using camouflage that also imitates depth and perspective, not just color.

Chapter 10 has given us our first minor villain of jojolands and what a great first impression he makes. This guy’s stand allows him to fuse with the SCENERY like some kind of 4th wall breaking camouflage. I already can’t wait for the next chapter so we can see more of him

Paco stole my heart this chapter, the enemy stand was so unique, and that little scene with Usagi and Dragona was so cute.

I could tell reading this chapter that there's gonna be some banger fights in part 9 The main cast all seem to have much more "utility-based" stands with seemingly little combat capabilities So it's gonna be super interesting to see how araki makes them used in fights

One thing to note is that Jodio's able to heal his neck injury w/ the bandaid because Paco hit him on the shoulder and caused the neck muscles to bulge/harden, similar to what he did to the enemy when he struck the dagger. The injury probably would have been fatal otherwise.

The enemy doesn't become clouds. He uses his ability to camouflage similar to what Risotto did in part 5 by reflecting the background. This can be seen on page 9 (on Mangadex) when you can see the gas station and sidewalk behind him in his face.

I love how Araki is just letting the abilities do things with only the minimum explanation needed. Felt very organic. Like how we keep learning more and more about November Rain by just seeing it in action. So we know now because of this chapter that November Rain can discriminate between targets.

I believe the enemy's stand is to manipulate color-changing sand. Everything it does is bodypainting, it is painted the same as the background and that is why it becomes invisible; When he attacks in cloud form, which is kilometers away, it is his own arm that is right in front of Paco, but since it is perfect camouflage, it deceives with perspective.

Well wasn't Jodio's cut mitigated by Paco husing The Hustle?

I think he just covers himself in sand particles whose color he has full control over. It's the differentiation of color (including gradation) that allows you to distinguish objects from one another visually. By controlling the color of the sand particles, he can camouflage himself to whatever's behind him from his target's perspective or make himself look like other people or even a mix of animals and objects. If you imagine everything you look at to be a 2D image, his multi-colored sand particles are like pixels in the shape of his body, all he has to do is change them to what's behind him to become basically invisible. Of course, this would require an insane level of skill, but this is JoJo's Bizarre Adventure we're talking about. I don't think he has insubstantiality like Doctor Wu, because then he'd use his Stand to avoid getting hit or attack with floating hands from opposing angles, but he never actually does that. When he stabs Dragona, we can see his entire body right there where it should be, and when he stabs at Paco from above, his arm isn't really detached from his torso, it's still within arm's reach (in the very next shot, you see his entire arm connected), it's just "invisible" and from an unexpected angle. It seems that whenever he attacks or gets attacked he becomes mostly visible because it's too much for him to keep track of what color the particles should be when his body's moving around in such a violent way. You also see that the sand is clearly a mask falling away from his from at the end of Chapter 9, rather than his body falling apart, because Araki draws depth to it. Also, I don't know if you caught this, but Paco used The Hustle to force Jodio's muscles to convulse, partially catching the blade before it punctured too deep into his neck. That's what that mini-flashback there is and why Paco just tells him to throw a band-aid on it. Dragona was not standing next to Paco, so Araki can't use that excuse here, but we know Smooth Operators can make an entire eye socket move across someone's face, so I'm pretty sure he can just move the wounds somewhere less lethal than his neck, but we'll have to see how effective it is.

I think your overfixating on the cloud thing. He fakes the watch and the birds a long with blending in with buildings. His ability is a perception-based camouflage imo. Like those AI images of landscapes which reveal memes when you squint.

I think the enemies stand is going to be similar to Risottos invisibility. Like he has control of this metallic sand which he use to reflect light in different ways. I think it would explain why his skin feels sandy, why the particles are so colorful, why he can become invisible (a la Risotto), and why he can distort perspective. It might be difficult to make a disguise with that ability, but I think Jojo logic would allow it

This chapter was awesome i was ready to see a fight against an actual “human”. Paco was just throwing hands man it was great I love fights like that it reminds me of part 8 josuke vs the brothers. And smooth operators being able to move a wound is really interesting

Araki once again proving why Paco Laburantes is that guy. All jokes aside Paco is my favorite character in the part so far. I truly can't wait to see more from him and the gang.

I think the ability is closer to that of a chameleon. The floating sand and rock fragments change color and can create images/illusions that might mess with perspective

I used to think The Hustle was a bad stand, but after seeing it blend seamlessly into combat, prevent fatal injuries, and damage enemies, I think this stand has a lot of potential.

Man these videos are so well edited I love tuning in every month! I will say in terms of the ability I think you might be too caught up on the clouds part, it seems to me like the ability has more to do with camouflage and blending into the background, giving it the appearance of coming out of clouds when in reality the user is standing in front of the cloud and using their ability to make it look like they are actually inside the cloud. I think it's more likely that the stand is integrated, like you said, and allows the user to cover themselves in a layer of sandy particles that are reflective and can take the appearance of anything, either to disguise yourself as something else entirely or to blend into the background. On top of that, you can create structures out of this material to further disguise your silhouette, like for example I bet fake Paco's hat was also made of the same thing covering his skin and was actually tangible, but the material itself is very brittle and crumbles away at the touch which is why whenever they clench their fist you can see the disguise fading.

Looking like we're getting more Rock Humans. Though, I'm speculating it's a different kind of Rock-human, more Sand than Rock based on the dialogue.

this one made me a HUGE fan of Paco. the way he's so confident in CQC the hustle seems unstoppable with some ingenuity, & yea looks like dragona will be our "heal from virtually anything" character by just moving the wounds from vital to non vital w/ their stand. Also I'm betting this 1st enemy is totaly a rock human. between the "rock humans are in touch w/ earth's blessings" ie lava rock, the comments from paco, & the fact this assassin has barely spoken reminds me of the psychopathic nature of them, idk i gotta say im convinced for now

I didn't even understand when first reading it that the "put a bandaid on it" flashback part was trying to show that paco used his stand to take some of the damage from the cut, sort of like diver down.

Great to see another stand fight to introduce us to how hustle can be used to fight even though it seems like a weak stand.

Calling it now: the name of the minor villain/name of its ability is gonna be a reference to The Carpenters.

This is the best chapter so far, the panel of Dragona getting stabbed, Araki flexed mad hard there.

The Hustle is basically Diver Down mixed with Hamon, but only affecting muscles.

Omg when did we seen hand to hand combat in Jojo last time? It was so cool to to see it with Araki's current drawing skills

I'm thoroughly enjoying the Jojolands so far, and one of the things I really like about how it's done its encounters is that they feel like a D&D campaign. You've got a group of individuals with wildly different personalities and abilities all working in tandem to achieve a goal or overcome an obstacle. A lot of the logic also feels very TTRPG. We have an illusionist? Well he probably sucks in a fight so the brawler can deal with him. They're sneaking away with invisibility so we can't hit them? Just slap them with AoE. We're getting chased by magic cats? They're cats, *feed them magic magnets then catch them in a net!* The fact that we have a team from the very beginning instead of one we have to build up over time has been a very interesting dynamic so far and I hope we get to see more of these dumbasses get into and out of sticky situations together.

The Hustle seems very connected to Spin. It reminds me of when Gyro channeled the force of an explosion from his fist to his foot through the Spin (I think vs Oyecomova)

I think no one who has read this chapter is over valueing the bandaid situation since it shows paco hitting jodio in the shoulder I think causing his hustle to move into jodio healing his throat and making the cut only on the top layer above pacos hustle I could be wrong but i think that is what happened

I made my own manga a year ago with the main character having similiar abilities. The ability makes a big cloud and rain over a given area. Different clouds rain had different effects. Heal rain could heal non fatal wounds, freeze rain could freeze whatever it touches etc.

I think that "THE Hustle" story arc is a great piece of the Jojolands to show how useful The Hustle can be. That's my opinion, and possible a bunch of you agree or not, of the arc so far.

the sand is colored and let's the user camouflage themselves and using forced perspective can make themselves look like they're further away than they actually are, that's also how they disguised themselves as paco, they used the colored sand to make themselves look like paco.

The enemy stand user that's like clouds the stand could be called In the Air Tonight I mean it makes sense with what we see him doing

It's cool that a character like Dragona is written as flawed and kind of greedy despite their age, just cool to see characters my age still acting like goofballs.

My favourite part of Jojolands so far is the dynamic between Dragona and Usagi. I can tell it's going to make me cry later.

It's amazing that it has been almost a year since this part started. I'm starting to wonder if I'll have kids once this is done.

We can see that both November Rain & Smooth Operators have inherited “Spin Energy” They both have the ability to Manipulate what they touch and rearrange it in a way that benefits the Stands & Joestar Users I also feel like The Lava Rock is this Alternate Universe’s “Stag Beetle Stand Arrow” from Part 5 It determines “Worthiness” and has a Direct Influence on what IT deems Worthy and who Possess it and what They Feel when the Lava Rock’s “Worthiness” is in a Flow State to add “Value” to the User

The way I’m visualizing this enemy’s ability is that old video effect where the image freezes in place and another image comes into motion making the previous pixels move while revealing an image. I don’t think his ability is cloud based because I feel like paco would have mentioned it felt like wet sand. I think it’s just a particulate based stand, or a rock human with unique control of the dust his body gives off. I hope I was able to make myself clear.

I think this guy is from the mafioso but this might be his mission to initiate him into the organisation, I think would explain why he talks about them in the first place but also why paco dismisses him as being to weak.

ngl i think you're really overcomplicating his ability, he's not breaking down or whatever he just has a sort of camoflauge that messes with perspective, making him literally blend into the background

I don't think the stand has anything to do with the sky. I believe the stand is a swarm of sand/rock particles that can project images. We've seen this ability before - during the Metallica vs Kimg Crimson fight Risotto does the exact same thing by refracting light from his body to become invisible. The difference here is that the stand seems able to make a dust cloud that produces the same effect in a larger area than just his body, and obscure his location.

I’ve been calling the enemy’s Stand “Karma Chameleon” since reading the chapter but Starman is a perfect name if the Ziggy connection is real

I think his stand works a bit like metallica, which fits considering it’s AU part 5, instead of metallic particles maybe he uses sand particles or something? Alternatively he could also be an alternate Zucchero, who attacked with a rapier from hidden locations

I think of the group The Matte Kusadi is gonna be the healer. Think about it, you can have the other members using it to create medical kits or other healing things. Which adds the risk of what exactly they need and also making sure someone else is alive to activate it

Your mentioning of particles makes me wonder if his stand is more of a particle manipulation stand of sorts. By altering their particles, they fuse with the environment to change their appearance or to surprise attack their opponent. And if this is a Rock Human, they are carbon based, so they can use the carbon in their body to physically change their appearance, hence the sand texture floating around this stand user. And speaking of the sand texture, sand is a silicone type thing, and when heated/fused it makes glass. And glass is transparent, maybe acting like a magnifying glass to make the clouds appear closer than they appear. Also, Starman seems like the highest contender for Stand Name.

I think that the villains so far are not true villains but the island of Hawai'i itself. I think Araki is inspired by Pele's Curse, which in Hawaiian culture it is said that taking natively Hawaiian off the island, like lava rocks, will give the person bad luck. I think that the lava rocks in Part 9 are similar, but instead, these enemies are the island trying to protect itself (native species attacking the cast and the sand enemy attacking them). If this is true, then these might not be true villains.

Hmm, my interpretation of the new enemy ability was more like the datamoshing effect - he can disguise himself by copying the 'image' of something onto his skin (or I guess the floating sand), and it's only when he starts to move that you realise he's actually there. When he attacks 'from' the clouds, he made his hand invisible by copying the background of the clouds. Similarly when we see the bird steal the watch and then as it gets closer it becomes obvious it's actually him, with the shape of the bird smeared over his body.

Hmmm using particles in the air to mess with light and what their opponents see, we're reaching all the way back to Wammu I see. Well, similar, but sometimes like an inverse of that power.
