The way he speaks, the look in his eyes, his mannerisms, untouchable intelligence, his ability to lead, the PTSD that war brought upon him, his stoic presence, and so many more things are exactly why this character reminds me of my husband so much. I've never seen a character that truly reminds me of him until I saw Thomas Shelby. While I love the character, my heart breaks for the pain in his story because I see the pain first-hand through my husband.
I'm not sure why people always overlook when tommy Shelby fell asleep when grace was singing in the pub and tommy Shelby sleeping in when he slept with grace in her apartment. I've always seen it as the most hauntingly beautiful reality of men. Before he met grace, he constantly use drugs to put himself to sleep every night, even then, he still wakes up in the middle of the night because of nightmares, but once he finally found someone he's comfortable, understood, and in the hands of a beautiful woman, all of his nightmares went away. You can really say, he finally had a reason to love and stay alive, remnants of his life before France.
I saw him sleeping in the bar the very first time. He found peace. Maybe the sound of her voice somehow reminded him his mother singing lullabies or smth.
not cheesy shit but tom relates to me so much i’ve lost everything and i cannot express shit i feeling and let it eat me alive. i lost myself during war
@user_viiv , and which war might that be ? I’ve lived through 3 different wars , didn’t fight cuz the First One , I was 6 Years Old , it Started 2,3 days before my Birthday (which is July 4) , the 2nd 1 was in a neighboring country where we were for a while , and The 3rd 1 is going on right now in my Country In Lebanon 🇱🇧… but this 1 isn’t a war fought with guns.. its a different kind of war , cold war , in some ways actually worse . Slowly killing us all… which war were you in ? And did you fight
Mate, this is a piece of art. Never lose this creation or look down upon it, it is one of the best pieces of media I have come across on the internet. You have talent, do not waste it.
I feel you n I believe In the smoke n the air I feel it when you feel it it I'll always believe in you God in who entrusts me with his most persicaria gift you n your faith salu su-en su mota ua
I probably watch em to have the slightest of feeling or imagination that there's someone disturbed like me, There's no rest or happiness for someone like me I guess, but then again, I have nothing but sadness and numbness. It's all I have
Yes, a lot of do... We relate and resonate with characters like this. We hold it in but feel deeply. We don't expect it in return, but we Love hard. We find Beauty in what they call broken and see the Evil in what they think is Beautiful. We find peace in salitude and we are uneasy amongst the crowd. Our Reasons are found in what we Love, Cherish and Respect. We Protect and Provide, we Fight, we Shield and we Never cease. We don't say much because our actions speak for us. We wake up knowing we are accountable and we have those that believe in us. We continue on until we have done our job to completion...until the very end. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
The only time we ever see Tommy puts his hand on a woman is that scene with Tatiana. Grace’s death DESTROYED him and this is just stunningly beautiful. Incredible video. It so captures the sheer beauty of their relationship.
I cant control myself but let me go with the flow, it felts so great for fighting the inner demon.. knowing that by the end of the day there are no rivals, only us… ourselves and the challenges within us that shapes during our early childhood periods. Keep going men of one world, be honorable.
He reminds me of my dad exactly like him broken but always stands on his feet and he refuses to fall It reminds me of a quote I'd rather die on my feet than live on my knees
The sad thing is Thomas never moved on. Yet grace found a guy and slept with him and tommy took her back. That literally explains everything in todays world. Men never really move on, they just move forward.
Andrew Huberman talked about this on a pod covering neuroscience of breakups and attachment. Apparently men rarely fully recover from breakups while women always do.
Grace was doing her job. She was an undercover investigator and happened to fall in love. She saw sides of Tommy that others never saw- it was subtle. He protected her- and appreciated what he saw was, “class” something he had not seen from the community he grew up in. They both fell in love with each other. She never stopped loving him either.
Cillian Murphy + Peaky Blinders = best series ever created!! Truly the best character with so much depth and complexity. Acted brilliantly by Murphy. He is a legend for this role. 🔥❤️
Its without question a top 10 all time show but there have been plenty of dramatic and suspenseful series/miniseries that rival it. Spoiler: you will not see The Sopranos, The Wire, or Breaking Bad on this list. True Detective (first season) Homeland The Night Of (HBO miniseries) Boardwalk Empire Blackbird (Apple miniseries) The Killing (crime series) Mindhunter We Own This City Broadchurch Daredevil along with The Punisher (may be skeptical but its incredible despite being a Marvel property) Ray Donovan Banshee GOT (yes even with the divisive final season) Snowfall Fargo And thats not close to all of them. PB is absolutely incredible. No doubt about it. But there are plenty of shows that will keep you on the edge of your seat the entire time.
8:02 the image of Tommy hanging his head across from Grace then the flash of him sitting alone, is truly haunting. A man who chose to forego love, attachment, and trust after his “death” during war, the story of Tommy after Grace’s death is that of a man who seeks that cold detachment he felt as he accepted his death at war, a man of incredible fortitude who can inevitably only be defeated by himself, his own inner struggle. Hats off to the creator of this amazing edit of a tragic cautionary tale.
Brother… I don’t usually comment on videos. But for this work,I had to. You have clearly elevated the bars of what an audience is. The music you used and the intercuts you have selected is perfect indication of your version of the peaky blinders. The way you used Alfie’s voice and Tommy’s killings and not showing Alfie was all this series is about : A guy fighting against his inner deamons. Top notch brother. This is like a very serious token of appreciation for the creators of this show. Cheers mate… long way to go ❤
Wow, I don't think that I can find any way to thank you as rightfully as I felt your words! I feel so much unworthy haha, thank you so much, and glad your appreciated it ♡
@@blue_amendsjust found u at 3am on Thursday. The lady reminded me of a woman I was with for a short while and I also lost her. She didn't have the time for anything so we stopped talking. Saw ur title and watched. Amazing job well done. I found the tv show on Netflix couple weeks ago and on season for after things happened. Very sad part of the show I'm on. Many thanks. glad to know these things happen to guys and they too have to deal w thing like losing a good person that's hard to find.
Superb work! It’s clearly shown that you’ve put so much effort, time and patience into this and it has paid off! A great exploration of his character and you should be proud of this video :)
True.He never said Msr Shelby to Lizzie and never joked about that with her, like how he did with Grace. She called him Ms Shelby and he called her Msr Shelby. And just thinks she was waiting for him in the house makes him happy, but with Lizzie was the opposite, he never wanted to go home.
Well...I know he did love Lizzie as well...just as much but different. It was hard on them both but Lizzie and Tommy did try to make a family .. neither was perfect but there was love there to my mind ❤️💔😭🙏
@@jlatimer716wtf? Just a much ? Mm you watch another show I think. The way he is with Lizzie is the opposite of how he was with Grace , he was completely in love with Grace, but with Lizzie he was miserable.
I don't usually comment but I have been moved to. I particularly like this compilation because it shows a deeper understanding for Tommy and his conflicts, as well as the wider progression of the entire series. It questions how far Tommy will go, his ambition, and goes beyond questions of life, death, and work, the old lie, but goes on to explore real trauma, blood, faith, memory, and the future. Most importantly, you end with the reminder that the constant unknown is threatening and exciting, and the refusal to suggest a definite outlook for Tommy's next move walks this balance maturely and appropriately for the series, especially with the movie coming. For me, a really excellent vignette of the whole show, and a cut above the familiar, hyper-dramatized action sequences in most compilations.
Thank you so much for your words, it means the world to me ! I was worried that the video might be too long, repetitive or eve irrelevant. You proved me wrong by understanding each of my intentions. Thank you again!
My favorite: @3:46 "Sorry about all that noise, sorry about all that dust, sorry about all that mud"...so simple yet kills me that it's really THAT simple..."and all that fucking blood" 😑😝
THis video is peak art. One of the best video I've ever watched on the internet. As a fan of the show, I've watched maybe one hundred edits. This is hands down the best.
I have to say it once again. You cannot imagine how much I like this video, honestly... I keep watching it over and over again! Such a beautiful masterpiece. The voices, the music - everything simply put together perfectly. Really appreciate it, thanks!
Amazing work mate. Mr. Shelby is such a character that there's a lot to learn from him for everyone. The way he carries himself is just absolutely astounding.
There is no rest for me in this world - Thomas Shelby PS : Look i still don't understand how he can keep all this pain inside him his daughter, wife died other than arthur everyone hates him but after everything whatever happens in the end of day he is there standing with a confident mind i learnt so much from this guy ❤️🩹✨
Grace was the only person why truly understood who he was ,why he was the way he was and accepted him regardless. because she knew that he was a good man despite the ugly acts he committed.yet the world saw fit to take her away anyway.you can’t blame him for wanting to join her again.its incredibly rare to find someone who both understands, accepts and loves you.
This is one of those videos that when it finishes you take a deep breath and realise that it was a good bloody video. One of the best edits ever seen. Great job
This one is the best of all these videos about Thomas Shelby and the Peaker Blinders. It tells a story, a rendition, a rise, and a fall of the character throughout all the seasons. You did very well with this one. Best one out there.
I’ve listened to this since a month it came out who cares about when it was ever posted, this since the time I’ve first listened is still the video that stops the night terrors of the war that I was told I won while only feeling loss
It took me 2 weeks to watch this video again. Thank you for liking my comment… Wish me the best of luck in the new life I live and I hope to see you more creating these moments that you are able to upload as only a video when it feels like therapy
2 years late to comment on this but ive seen this video every now and then for the past year and this editing and the music choice just goes perfect it shows tommy never gives himself time to deal with his demons he keeps moving forward this also shows his gypsy side cause the gypsies always were on the move i believe because of something to do with making the nails that hung jesus to his cross and they had some kind of punishment of some sort. Awesome video way better than what i can do as a small youtuber
thank you kindly for your words!! i'm not a huge youtuber myself, keep going and making stuff if that's what you like!! i'm sure you'll be making amazing pieces!
@@blue_amends hey mate one month later or more i have made a edit if you wanna check it out id love to hear your thoughts on it its on my channel havent got a proper name for it but yeah
This series is by far my favorite of any I’ve ever seen. And this edit. Well I believe I’m just like the rest of the comments when I say this is the best edit of anything I’ve ever seen. Incredible music makes it beautiful, dark, loving, scary and happy all at once. It perfectly encapsulates everything I think about in this show. I wish for you to earn great fortunes and happiness; and keep doing what you love. What a beautiful video❤
Grace says "but i warn you i'll break your heart" but ironically, she is the only one who doesn't emotionally betray Thomas. Even if she has gone, she keeps him on her mind almost every minute of every day like him, probably.
Actually, she was the very first to betray him, but he loved her anyway. Polly, Ada, John and Arthur never betrayed him. Grace was an agent of the crown, she reported his many crimes to the police. She was a snitch, and never even confessed to him directly. She thought that her betrayal would break his heart for good, but he forgave her. Her death broke his heart, and he caused it in spite of himself.
Im talking about emotions. She has to do these things in the very beginning due to her job, it is not personal preferences, like Thomas did due to his company issues. But both of them try to hamper it before all the things getting confused. Otherwise, if we analyze the happenings in a logical way, of course she is. Particularly when she getting married another man. But remember the reunion scene, she confessed her love after him. Also we need to think about the others from the beginning to the end, you have a point but i see differently. Thanks for your perspective.
Beautiful haunting edit ...great insight into deeper meanings into the poetry of the show's creator, the masterful delivery by Cillian Murphy and the sheer artistry of the brilliant camera work . Bravo bravissimo
This is one of the most beautiful edits I've ever seen. I vow to rewatch this weekly. Shows the true nature of what Tommy's gone through and how he's changed through the years and all surrounding the central idea of Grace. Outstanding work.
Can not find a single thing wrong with this video. One of the most impressive edits I’ve ever seen. As an amateur editor myself this is so incredibly well done! Incredible ❤
