I’m from Michigan and we only had chicken mole which was peanut butter based. Our Aunt used to add unsweetened Cocoa in the ingredients as well! We used the broth from the chicken as well. Our mom & aunts browned the rice as well!

My great grandma made peanut butter and red chile chicken mole. We make ours different than yours. But cool to see another family making mole with peanut butter.
Grew up in San Antonio. Same same. Only difference was, my mom would use some crumbled saltine crackers towards the end to thicken it up a bit. And she used to add some cumin (comino)
I'm glad you made this video. This is South Texas, Texas Mex, peanut butter based mole. Im in SA and It's hard to find in most restaurants, but most families here make this style. We need to keep our culture strong. Dang Cali invaders.
I agree. I used to eat it in south Texas, Carrizo Springs. It was a staple down there. As you go north it’s more chocolate moles. But this is my favorite mole by far! I miss going out there for the mole and the raspas. The first things I’d want when I’d go and mangos in the boxes by Mexico. 🤣🤤
My grandmother who’s from Jalisco taught my mom how to make peanut butter mole, it’s the only kind I’ve ever eaten. It’s a great Mexican curry that’s for sure. Nice video bro, I’ll have to check out some of your others. Peace

I do like it with peanut butter, but I do usually add baking cocoa to it too. Honestly grew up on peanut butter cup candy and I can't turn down chocolate.
Im just a white girl from east Texas but a friend's family once served this at a baby shower. My friends mom always made chicken molè with peanut butter as her specialty molé. I fell in love with it and after getting my Covid booster yesterday needed comfort food so that's what I'm cooking tonight!

I brown the rice before making my rice changes the flavor completely. i bet that Chicken was the bomb great job i like cooking outside also but its below freezing here lol that's for sharing brother

I love peanut butter mole! You Brown your rice to enhance the flavor. We also add garlic towards the end of the Browning process. You could also reserve some of the caldo from the chicken to use in your sopa. Thanks!!
