Except the entire cartoon included kids constantly bullying other kids; these were the good old days when it was OK to bully as long as it was girls bullying boys.
My husband and I are 61 years old and we still watch all of the Peanuts specials! We brought our kids up with them, and as adults they too still watch every year! God made a wonderful man in Charles Shultz.
I totally agree I'm 64 and I watch it myself much more simpler time, Snoopy playing that guitar looks like he watched Elvis doing heartbreak hotel on The Ed Sullivan show!!
Yes he did. Charles Shultz humble genius and story telling with the Peanuts comic strip was a big part of my younger years. Even now as I enter my 72nd year there is still a soft place in my heart for the Peanuts gang.
Did you ever notice how happy everyone is? They are just caught up in the moment, in the music, doing themselves. No judgment, no watching anyone else, just enjoying the moment.
I was just at a grocery store with my mother when this started playing over the Muzak. Even though i was pushing the cart, and am 50+ years old, i started dancing, being careful not to hurt anyone. Mother looked at me like I’m nuts.
Coukdnt agree more. But now as adults we have to be determined to MAKE as many happy, beautiful memories as we can. We OWE it to ourselves. Peace and love everyone!
@@firesonic1010 I beg to differ with you... Charlie had just that little curly Q wisp of hair... the kid in orange has much more hair... still puts a smile on my face... had to watch it again
As a kid in the 70s it was an annual tradition to watch the broadcast of each of the Peanuts holiday specials. So many fond memories this music brings back. Magical stuff!
Orville Kidder that’s why I need the joy that only Jesus can give. “ Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. in all your ways acknowledge him and he will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6
I literally shed a tear of joy and smiled while I was watching this now. Reminds me of good childhood memories. Peanuts always had the best holiday specials in my view
"Pig Pen" on the bass with his head thrown back in a cloud of dust with a grin a mile wide "wiindmilling" (a la Pete Tounshend), kills me every time. This song never fails to bring a great memory of childhood.
I watched this the first time it was broadcast, December 9, 1965, I was 10 and in the 5th grade. I have seen it most every year since and still enjoy it. And this song, “Linus and Lucy “, is still one I enjoy, along with so many others. Guaraldi wrote a timeless piece of music that still holds its own after 50+ years.
I was also 10 y.o. in ‘65. This was such an event. “Peanuts” was all the rage that year (kids, that means it was super trendy). I even got to go to a friend’s house to watch it on her color TV. Will never lose the enchantment of that first viewing. Merry Christmas!
My boyfriend is from a different country and there's no way for him to feel the nostalgia that I do when I see this. Watched A Charlie Brown Christmas every year that I can remember... and I'm 45. Lol.
My favorite Christmas cartoon ever!!! I'm 60 years old and my ears light up every time I hear this classic gem! Thank you, Charles Schulz. You were the greatest!!
Turning 60 this month. Peanuts was to me is what Harry Potter is now. Feeling blessed for the simpleness this added to my childhood. Thank you Mr. Shultz from one of the geek kiddos.
Along with the scene of Linus reading the Christmas story after Charlie Brown shouts, "Isn't there anyone who knows what Christmas is all about?" The late Christopher Shea delivered the lines (at age 7!) with such joy and innocence.
Everyone wants to get down like the boy in Orange or the girl in purple. Love the boy in green doing the zombie. All modern dance moves came from this!!!
You know it’s officially Christmas when they start playing this on the radio. You should already have your tree up and eggnog in the fridge with left over stuffing!
No matter how crappy I feel, or how absolutely awful the day, week, month or year may seem to be going, this song... this song always puts a smile on my face within the first few notes! Merry Christmas, Charlie Brown! And to all of you out there in the world, peace, love and happiness all the year long!
So glad I was raised in this era, as this cartoon was my childhood. Holidays were excitedly looked forward to and we had simple, happy lives. Peanuts were all part of that.
This Peanuts segment always brings me back to my childhood...and i am almost retirement age. But why i ask myself? It's because of the innocence of the scenario... when everything in my life was simple and uncluttered and seasonal. That is to say: no worries about expenses; no concerns about health, weight and illnesses, and the thought of summer, winter, and XMas joy! The Peanut gang brought me close to Jesus Christ and the meaning of Christmas
Yeah this generation of kids has got to be the WEIRDEST gen of kids in history, no spunk. But that’s what happens when you’re raised on the internet like contemporary adolescences
The sheer joy of innocence the greatest gift ee ever have as with it comes truth and love ❤ From a 61 year old kid!Merry Christmas everyone everywhere and peace joy and love ❤ 😍
When I was traveling to New York City from 1988 to 2005, on the Upper West Side of Manhattan there was a vendor selling Christmas trees every year. For $1 he would sell a "Charlie Brown Christmas tree." Anyone who grew up in the 70's or still watches "A Charlie Brown Christmas" every year, knows what that tree looks like. Happy holidays to all who grew up watching Peanuts on CBS and to those who watch it wherever it's broadcast today.
"Congress yesterday showing off, today 😔😕...the people know that the only way is...the military 🪖🎖️.. two tear justice system hmmm Young Apprentice 💪❤️.. magadonians.."
My favorite Christmas show "Charlie Brown Christmas". I'm 64yrs and still watching all of these shows on TV every year! Just goes to show, Christmas does bring out the kid in all of us. Merry Christmas everybody from 2020 ! 🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄... 🚬👓...
Me too. Watch every year and smile. I remember us kids and my parents watching and laughing at 5 and the sleep walking moonwalker. And Snoopy running the show. Pure gold!
My FAVORITE Christmas song...I even learned it on guitar...love it so much!!! Reminds me of being a kid at Christmas time...im 55 now, brings back great memories...wish I could go back for just a minute. Life is to short...seems like just yesterday I was a kid, lying in front of the old Zennith TV set watching this, eagerly waiting for Christmas to come🥺
It was great to be a kid back then. I only wish the world had some of this today for our kids. Thanks ... (and in the day of real instruments with real musicians) ...
Back in the day these were specials that you could only see at a certain time, certain day of the year which made them special. Now you can see anything with a click of a button at any time, so kids will never really experience this like we did.
dandymcgee I’ve been learning the original version for a little bit, the main melody, or whatever, isn’t too hard. As you get farther in, though, it gets much harder
You are very blessed young person because there's a lot of peace and joy in the simpler times I raised my children on the same thing my grandchildren as well be blessed in the Lord Jesus and stay safe young person😊 thank you for sharing😅❤❤😊
Yes that's true I remember one year that I didn't get to watch it in in almost 40 Years of watching it and the next year I got to watch it for free on Me-TV I was so so so so so so happy I guess they didn't sell enough so they had to let people watch it for free but on the main channel CBS ABC and NBC unfortunately I have not in many years 😮
The Peanuts Christmas special still gets to me, I am 62, and when the Peanuts gang yell, "Merry Christmas, Charlie Brown", I start bawling like a baby.
Except now nobody can watch it unless they own Apple TV I've been watching that damn thing since 1965 when I was a child but no more children or at least poor children can watch it. Thank you Mr Gates.
I enjoy the Gospel of Linus. The quiet. The children voice. The pause afterwards. And the contemplative walk of Charlie Brown afterwards to the instrumental O Tannenbaum.
"In August 23, Congress is gone for the month, 🧐🤔 Yoda say when the cats are away, the Cabal Rothschild Centralized nimrod Babylon worldly system will play, hmmm 🧐 Yoda say 🌱😎"
One of my treasured memories is rushing my parents to get home from choir practice so I could see the very first broadcast of Charlie Brown Christmas. After all these years still my favorite holiday special.
I saw the first broadcast as well. I was 6. Has always been a Christmas favorite, along with "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer". Have to watch every year, since I have them on DVD. (Jan Griffiths).
WOW 😮, "Is this God damn antique or 🐜 IFA, god damn Congress in Oboma hitlery Clinton time this song is about, installed like a 🐸 in a boiling water bottle 😞, every Christmas God damn cabal Rothschild Central Oboma hitlery, sneak a unconstitutional law suit against the American people.."🎉
you'll never be over it, but you'll tolerate better as time goes by. believe me, i've been there. keep enjoying this song, it will bring you tears of happiness.
e m i Sorry for your loss. I know it's hard. Something we live with. It just means that you really loved the person. You carry their soul in your heart. 💞
@@scrambler69-xk3kv My Dad was born in 46' RIP, and My Mom was born in 52' and Me and Her enjoy this every holiday season, also the Great Pumpkin on Halloween 😂😂😂
I LOVE Peanuts and always will. Vince Guaraldi Trio's musical score fits like a warm fuzzy pair of socks. I have his CD and it's great. Peanuts forever !!!
Violet's dance looks like she's punching herself in the forehead both sides, and Freda looks like she is catching a zillion nerf balls from her unseen boyfriend.
"Linus and Lucy" (The Peanuts Theme) by Vince Guaraldi is not technically a holiday song, but it was introduced in "A Charlie Brown Christmas" and is played with holiday songs on the radio.
Had a chance to watch Jerry Granelli perform this a couple years ago . He is the last surviving member of the Vince Guaraldi trio . What a cool cat , he is almost 80 and still plays .
Charles Schultz was a national treasure. I still remember clearly when the news broke that he had passed away. Across the country millions of people stopped whatever they were doing to remember and honor him. Many older people remarked that the nation hadn't stopped like that since Kennedy died. I even remember cars pulling over on the highways and turning on their lights and honking their horns in tribute. There can be no doubt that he had a profound influence on 10s of millions. The Peanuts kids were my best friends when I was a kid. Back when our country was still a civilized place. Now?.........so sad!!
Charles M Schultz is from MN , as am I. And when I was a kid in the 70's I read every book ever made from the Peanuts collection. I have his small Charlie Brown book on my shelf right now as a keepsake from my childhood.. The holidays are not the same without some Peanuts movies and music. ✌️
@@danielives379 I had a bunch of old Peanuts books from the late 50s to the 70s which I gave to my nephew years ago. Every once in a while I would take one off the shelf and browse through it even well into my adult years. Schultz created something so good and wholesome. So terribly and sadly different from the horrible culture we see today. I miss those days.
Not to trying to the the past wasn’t all good and stuff, but the 60s and early 70s was full of protests between war, racial tensions and government control. Not to mention the fact that there was a big teen counterculture happening full of drug use and sometimes running away from home. I guess you could say it’s been a crazy world.
I remember being five or six years old, and pretending to play the piano while watching this on TV. Before this year is out, I'll be 55, and I still pretend to play along whenever I hear it.
As Tiny Tim would have said….” God bless us every one!” At least we still have the videos to remind us and warm our hearts 🥰. Merry Christmas to everyone throughout this earth. God bless you all!
the brush playing by drummer Jerry Granelli is legendary on this track and all the charlie brown christmas tracks! merry christmas to all members of this band but especially my mentor Jerry! RIP
JBIRD NELSON wow! Your feelings are very tuff! You are the only one that hasn’t been replying with a mean reply whenever I say mean things, thank you for that...🙂
