It's based on true events. Jamal aka Jamel you might enjoy 'Evenflow', the video where Eddie sings while climbing, hanging and then crowd surfing. Pearl Jam was one the few great bands of the 90's. Love the channel. ✌🏼❣
That's a great way to put it. I've always tried to put it into words but him being possessed by the spirit of the song is the best line I've heard when talking about him live
Try and give as much emotionally as he does while singing this song and you will cry and it will feel liberating and you will feel emotional but really good after a good cry.
I've never seen another singer like Vedder, who can use his voice to create meaning without using any words. The entire ending segment tells us just as much as the two verses.
When Ten dropped I booked to Tower Records in Hollywood, CA. Stood in a loooong line to buy the CD. I got it, played the hell out of it, and I still have it. Eddie Vedder's intense baritone voice still curls my toes to this day.
I was dating a guy who worked in a record store when it came out....got a copy of the CD week before the release. OMG ... changed my music life. Saw this in person multiple times too..
Sadly I wasn't born when this came out. I was old classic rock and stayed in that, until I got into college, one of the local radio stations played nothing but grunge, alt, hard rock, and metal. And when I heard PJ, I needed to get Ten for my car. So I was walking around goodwill I found Ten and Nirvana Unplugged for $2 each!
Pearl Jam is a triple A band and Eddie Vedder is one of the best singers on the planet hands down! His live performances are as spot on as in the studio there are not many that sound as good live as on an album. He goes into another dimension when he belts out these timeless jams. Best in my opinion. Try temple of the dog Hunger Strike it’s bad ass! 👍✌️
Pearl Jam also stand by their fans in a big way. They have released singles that are only available to fans as gifts (one of them is "Last Kiss," which PJ wound up using for an album to benefit refugees). They have this fan organization called Ten Club that works to ensure things like priority tickets and collectibles get into the hands of fans instead of resellers. I think it's impressive that they try to do something special for the people who really love their music.
I can vouch for that 100%. Eddie is one of those guys who has virtually no difference between his studio performances and live performances. It’s very impressive. I saw Pearl Jam live for the first time in 2014, Eddie sounded amazing. I mean I already knew he sounded great live, but to experience it with my own ears was awesome. They opened with Pendulum and his voice sounded just as great as it did on the album.
@@oregonchick76 Ive been in the Ten Club for 20 years. Every Christmas, except for maybe one year, they sent me gifts such as records with unreleased songs (Angel is my favorite. Its fuckin amazing.) and cool books, free concert downloads from pearljam.com, stickers and posters and first dibs on concert tickets.
I've never heard another reactor mention this boy's family and the impact it must have had on them as you did. Hopefully we all take pause to consider this. Excellent reaction. This man's passion is intoxicating to watch. He always goes all in on his performances. Just love to see as well as hear him perform as you mentioned.
@@crashburn3292 I remember that. I also remember that PJ claims they got the story from other people. Are the parents really going to say "Yes, we were distant Wasp stereotypes that contributed"? Was never sure of who was right.
One of the most powerful songs ever written performed by a band that is unrivaled. Eddie Vedder's vocals...I don't have the words to describe the way it moves through me.
I saw Pearl Jam live in Rome in June 2018 - over three hours of concert and Eddie's voice was flawless from beginning to end! All of them were really impressive, though - you really get that they're a group.
You can't erase it. You can't forget it. A little over 40 yrs. ago. I was 16. My friend shot him self in the head right in front of me. No. You can't erase it from your mental blackboard...ever.
Boo Kitty my friend as well the girl said she didn’t know it was a loaded gun. He slumped over and just stoped moving. Just a trickle of blood through the back of his head.
Wow man, how are u not so much bigger than u are? First time here but gotta give mad props. U did research on the song and band before hand, knew the message, gave credit to this incredible band and didn't focus on just the singer, had a real and raw reaction. I'm blown away man, one of the best reactions I've seen in a long time. Even did the rewind when resuming the song so u catch it all and the rhythm and flow of the music. I can't sing enough praises man, u got urself a sub for sure. Be blessed buddy
I live in Seattle. Lot of rain and depression runs rapid here. But it has turned out some of the best bands in my life. Chris , Layne, Eddie and a lot more. RIP CHRIS AND LAYNE ❤
Not to many bands can sound better live than the studio version, but pearl jam is definitely in a class of their own in live setting. Still to this day, they still are incredible live..
If this is what got you through then by all means adopt it as your own. I've got my own for the same reason. Take care. Stay with us Robert, you're a human being, a person who matters.
This facial connect to raw emotion I think is part of the disconnect rock fans have with other forms of music... For us it's not just a catchy tune or flawless delivery it's letting the audience get raw, because life is raw.
Love me some Pearl Jam unplugged! We're so fortunate to still have Eddie. He's still as just expressive live. Though I don't think he crowd surfs much anymore, lol.✌💜🎶
I’m so glad you have reacted to Pearl Jam!!! Pearl Jam is one of my all time favorites. They are all in their 50s now. You should check out a song “sirens” it came out a few years ago. You can see the maturity of the band.
You keep doing Pearl Jam. We'll keep watching. Check out the official video for this song. It's one of the biggest videos of all time. One video of the year on MTV.
I am of the belief that Eddie Vedder, Chris Cornell, Kurt Cobane, and Alice in Chains were prophets with a message of what is going on beneath the surface. Jeremy is a great example of what I'm talking about. So much passion for what is being ignored. Thank you for your honest reactions.
I don't think "enjoy" is the right word for how many of us feel about this reaction. Much like "Lightning Crashes", "Zombie" or other very moving songs like that, we're vicariously reliving that first experience of hearing these emotionally powerful tunes through you. They have a lot of meaning, even if they can hurt to hear. I think it's fairer to say that we appreciate you sharing in the things that have moved us when it comes to songs like this. Your strong human empathy shines forth and reminds us of the emotional power of these songs. Peace.
Speaking as an 80's baby, 90's teen & someone who should've been a "high school shooter" due to the non-stop everyday teasing in front of every class, from 9th to 11th grade from me having a physical disability, Generalized Dystonia, "Jeremy" means a lot to me.... Luckily I had family & a handful of true friends that kept me from always being in that "mind space".... Suicide was never a thought to stop the "hurt" for me but killing those specific individuals would have.... I taught my children to never "make fun of" anyone nor join the crowd because you never know that person's story and or "strength".... I also taught my children it will always be safe to talk to me about anything they feel, sad, happy, depressed, confusion, sexuality, "race" & etc....
They had 2 versions ....i just got through watching it and could not stop the tears....*warning* its heart wrenching. I was a victim of abuse and ridicule. This song still still gets to me. I can't go back to the uncensored one...But loved the raw soul and edge Pearl Jam gave to their music. Thanks for the vid i haven't heard their unplugged version til now.
Pearl Jam will always be my favorite artists. Individually each are very talented and Eddie's vocals are #1. Highly recommend listening to him sing in person.
You are for sure my favorite reaction channel on RU-vid. You appreciate music in a way we all should! Eddie Vedder hands down is my favorite singer because he’s in love with his music and he shows it when he performs.
I'm 50; so, it's undeniably cool to see someone's reaction reaffirm the instinct in myself to know the difference between a truly good song and one that is merely a sentimental marker in time. You're getting pretty good at this! Try: "Snuff" by, Slipknot! I was late to the table on that 1,myself...
So glad you reacted to the live version. Hands down one of the best live performances ever. Everyone was incredible. Eddie's voice can bring me to tears every. single. time. He is a force for sure.
If you watch Pearl Jam in South America tour, every show is over 3 hours of bliss, you'll see every person singing every word to their songs! Their following is worldwide and they are the most giving band and have respect for fans. They were the only band to sue Ticket Master for increased ticket prices! Went to Congress to testify it wasn't fair to fans! Love them! 💖
“daddy didn’t give affection, and the boy was something that mommy wouldn’t wear”...........Now, let’s all debate our politics, and create “differences” in each other to argue about.........While we neglect our children.
This is the biggest issue with our country and the world in general. Specifically the Fathers. The Father is the spiritual leader of the family. When they fail, for whatever reason, we get messed up youths and it has negative effects generationally.
I'm 43, so I've grown up listening to many of the songs that you react to. But I truly enjoy watching and listening to your opinion on them. You really open my eyes to things that I haven't really paid attention to. Keep them coming, my friend!
Your enjoyment of the music is so contagious and so beautiful to see, and makes me enjoy these songs even more than I already do. You're a good music educator.
I ❤️ that u reacted to this!!!! Thank u so much for letting us take this journey with you!!!! I love me some Eddie Vedder 😍 Check out PJ Porch Pink Pop this will give u a good look at how diverse they are & who Eddie Vedder really is😉 Much ♥️ from Bama 🙋 💕
I really miss this early 90's. Remember a friend giving me THIS cassette tape as a gift. Still have the cassette tape, but nothing to play it in. Wouldn't attempt trying to play it these days, would just crumble. Cannot believe how TIME REALLY DOES FLY as I age, cannot believe this is 30 YEARS OLD !!!!!! Jamel aka Jamal thank you so much for your hard work, the passion and the time you you spend for music. 😊✌😷You and your wife have a great day and stay safe. Thank you again.
I think this is the saddest, most glorious song I will ever hear, and I've heard a few like we all have. Haunting, never forgotten once heard. Thank you & VBW x
How am I just finding your channel. I love your reaction. Pearl Jam my god they are so amazing…. I was lucky to see them live when I worked at Tower records , we would get tickets from reps for shows. I was a hip hop head and one of my coworkers would play them all the time. One day I finally really listened and was like holy shit
I remember when I was about 11 or 12 this concert played on tv while i was at my Memé's house! . It made me fall in love with pearl Jam. The music was so good!!
I so appreciate all that you are doing in Keeping Great Music Alive Brother Jamel. This is one of their best live performances and thanks for the shout-out to the rest of the Band too, as they are all stellar musicians, to put it mildly. I play bass and Jeff Ament has always been a favorite player of mine - especially that damn Hamer 12-string bass he played on this song in particular. WOW!!! Eddie is the Man.
30 years later and this song and the story behind it is still very relevant. I remember seeing the video premiere and in rotation. That opening bass riff gets me every time.
Brother, I am not one of those who subscribes to the reaction videos, but watching you respond and live in the moment brings me back to the 90's and hearing this for the first time, ty for just being there in the moment and transgressing time to live it again, ty for understanding the time we were in.... not like today, old guy signing in and... subscribing to you, obviously with the "...."
Thank you for these videos. Your reactions and thoughts on the songs make me smile till my face hurts. Love when people listen to PJ for the first time.
Eddie is a genius. Pearl Jam are amazing. They still play today w the same passion, great show to go see. Check out porch pink pop 92’ live- you will see the best stage dive in history
Seen PJ few times and their concerts are over 3 hours long. Pure energy and Eddie's tender soul and McCready with his weeping guitar! Love and if you get a chance to see them! 💞✌
Jamal i love your music commentary! I have watched so many of your reaction videos and enjoy them immensely. It's a plessure. Like i am listening to these songs again for the first time. You seem to be a true music lover and appreciate all types of music. That's awesome to see !
Thank you for being the kind of man that recognizes greatness when he hears it and has enough confidence in his own individuality to say it. Love your channel and your reviews.
MTV was rolling out great concert after great concert at the time. I thought that was just normal at the time. Basically 30 years later, I still go back and watch the same unplugged shows.
Pearl Jam is a real incredible live band. And wrote many beautiful rock songs - mostly kind of power rock. Maybe you want to check out the perfomance from them a few years later on european festival called "pink pop" in year 2000. One of their big hits "rearviewmirror" was performed so well there.
"Jeremy" is one of Pearl Jam's most powerful songs. Watch the unedited, uncensored music video if you can. This song, and its story, are what life and art are all about.
The whole Singles soundtrack is a pretty good CD. It was a time that gave me hope after the techno seagulls crap of the 80's. Screaming Trees 'Nearly Lost You' is a great tune. ✌🏼🔊
Checked them out per your recommendation. Song/band I've never heard yet taking me right back to high school :D Let me hit you back with one: HUM - You'd Prefer an Astronaut: The Pod ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wKwJiESivOs.html Let me know if it hits ya.
@@Bunke09 Indeedy the list goes on...Love Battery, Sunny Day Real Estate... memory ain't what it should be or we'd both be here rattling off names into oblivion!
I know Ed & Mike the lead guitarist personally my ex fiancé’s cousin is married to Mike & fr 2 of the most humble nicest people you could ever meet. Been a fan since I was little & always will be. Love seeing people become fans!
Im with ya bro... I love the passion in the instruments, the singing, the lyrics... I dont listen to anything that isn't profound... Profound for me... I live in music.... listen to what im playing that day... you will know where I am! God bless brother
You are so right about seeing the artist(s) perform live. I know you reacted to "Black" by Pearl Jam...and it is a great song...but to see the video from their Unplugged performance...puts a whole different twist on it. The passion you see from the singer and the band. It is amazing. Thanks for this reaction!
You should react to Pearl Jam. Garden + Release .... Really top drawer tracks . 👍 Also , as good as the drummer was he wasn't PJ material (he was too flash for the band ) and they let him go .
Thank you for doing this song. Yes it’s overwhelming actually sometimes makes me cry just because this type of artist gets to my emotions , I guess not real sure .
