I mean, to be fair, they're playing Foo Fighters songs, and Taylor was a member of that band. I see what you're getting at but I think the point is just to honour what he did, and that was (mainly) help to make the Foos great. Can't see it as a bad thing if they dedicate ANY song in his memory.
@@spencerwillock - Well, I didn't mean to sound critical of them, I do like that they are playing "My Hero" and others, it's a good thing.....I just felt it was better to play "Cold Day in the Sun".
I have seen a lot of fantastic musicians pass away and a lot of tributes for said musicians but never as many for Taylor Hawkins!! He is and was so beloved by so many that every one I see makes me tear up!! As a massive Foo Fighters fan I'm still having trouble wrapping my brain around the fact that he is gone!! Hate that we as fans won't ever get to see him and the band with him again...so heartbreaking and such a major loss for the music world!!! As is has been said Rest in beats dear Taylor!! We love and miss you so damn much🥁🥁🥁💜💜💜
That's Mark Gulianna for people who don't know, he's a jazz legend and played drums on David Bowie's last album. Also, check out Chad Smith rocking the tambourine side stage. What a great tribute to Taylor.
As a Foo Fighters fan, this is one song I always wished they would play. During the Concrete and Gold tour, Dave tried to get Taylor to sing the song but he wouldn’t. Never thought I’d see one of my other favorite bands playing it, but I’m glad they didn’t play it in San Diego, I would of balled up.
This is awesome. Sad what lead to it, of course, but its really cool to see that, 30 years on, the friendships and respect between these bands (Pearl Jam, Foo Fighters, Nirvana, Red Hot Chili Peppers, not to mention all the other connections) are still going strong. Part of what I love about the 90s alt rock scene.
Thought to comment with much the same content. Thanks and certainly feel what you said. Their support of each other is admirable, and long withstanding. Their musical selves are just different in the realm of ‘real’ of which I and many others appreciate, and felt connected to so many years ago. Imagine being in that room? The vibes in tribute of Taylor💔💜🎶🤘🏻
Beautiful tribute, Taylor is so loved! You can say Matt really meant it when he sang “Wish I could take it away”. Also, Chad must be such a great friend to have. Thank you for this! I love you, Taylor!
Thank you for sending this out! It means so much. Everyone loved Taylor. This tribute was so great. The show was awesome. Thank you Pearl Jam!! We went to both sold out shows. We couldn't have been happier!!!!
This is so emotional 🥲 Great to see Chad there too, always remembering his friend. Matt has a great voice, and Josh rad as always, all great musicians 👏🏽
There was a period of time when I was listening to Foos, PJ, and Avishai Cohen trio religiously... never once did I think all three would intersect at some point, let alone because of a tragedy. What an amazing tribute.
@@danpeezie idk if they are going to replace Taylor... doubt they will. And even if they do- it's true that Matt's one of the only drummers who's skilled enough to fill that position, but he's already got Pearl Jam+ multiple side projects, so he's already busy enough without adding another band...
@@Ariel_thenotsolittlemermaid I don’t know what they’ll do but I don’t believe grohl can stop making music. It may be years but I believe they’ll be back in some capacity
@@danpeezie yeah he would be hit hard in the heart this point of time wether it takes him months or years dave will be back its just more harder for him this time coz he lost his bestfriend we hope he comes back stronger i believe he will in a matter of time
OMG.. my favorite band since puberty -PJ-, playing with my current favorite drummer -Mark Guiliana-, and my great sensei -Cameron- on vocals. amazing dream
@@garrydove ...sure, I capture these moments to share with fellow music lovers as my way of expressing gratitude for the music and time. I would be humbled if you pass it forward
Josh Kilnghoffer. He was the guitar player for RHCP on 2 albums. He's also filling in on drums for PJ sometimes right now while Cameron is out with COVID. Super talented and humble dude.
Why wasn't Will Farrell in the back doing cowbell instead of the tambourine? Seriously though, great tribute. Taylor is top 5 most fun drummers of all time, Matt is top greatest 5 all time rock drummer to me.
@@killerkite333 In the Howard Stern interview Eddie said that he was somehow in denial so maybe that was the way to cope with CC death. Anyway everyone react different when someone die by suicide. Very recently he talked more about the subject through the song Brother the Cloud. I remember the same happened with Dave Grohl in the first FF tour. DG would not play any Nirvana song and did not talk about KC death.
There are only 2 Foo Fighters songs Taylor sang, so there isn't a lot to choose from. And this wasn't meant to be the prettiest thing ever, he was paying tribute to one of his closest friends who died very shortly before that... have some respect.
