I think that artists inspired by Daniel's music should at least do a tribute concert in honor to him. Daniel touched so many hearts through out his life that a tribute concert would be the least people can do for him. And to hear Pearl Jam play this song would be gold.
I used to listen to this song in the 90s a lot when I was in high school. I came across it on a Pearl Jam bootleg cd compilation I purchased on eBay in the mid to late 90s. This was before RU-vid ever existed. It always touched me so much. It still sounds so wonderful. I read in the comments to this video that someone wrote about Pearl Jam‘s cover of Don’t Be Shy by Cat Stevens from around the same time and that cover is just as touching to me. Another song from this time. That is an obscure gem is Pearl Jam‘s acoustic version of corduroy from the bridge school benefit in the 90s. That is just so wonderful as well. I doubt that Eddie Vedder could ever have imagined people listening to walking the cow 28 years later and still loving it
I can't get enough of this specific cover with the acoustic and bass guitars and conga drums along with Vedder's voice, so glad this was uploaded and shared to the world. Thank you.
@@MichaelHamlin76 If they come around anywhere drivable it's worth it. It's crazy how powerful their live shows still are. Good luck and good health to ya.
@@byrontownsel7274 Thanks for that feedback. I've wrestled with that image i have in my mind of young Eddie climbing around on stuff and how that has been built up in my head, vs seeing them now in their more mature state. I know they have always been a live band first and I guess they always will be - no matter the age. Have a great one!
Its not about music man I guess its hard to get a point across in a paragraph or less. I'm just trying to tell you its a waste of time to hate stuff. Its your life its in your head so why spend your time angry when you hear a band. I use to get that way about pop acts all the time, but then I thought hell it exist cause the public is just like that mediocre and they crave a thing like them. Thats beside my point though. It's ok to get angry hell you might change something with that energy.
plus its not like it stoped other people form making music good or bad. Like I said I don't like Perl Jams music, but so fucking what I think at least I don't try to hate.
I don't like how he made it into some relaxing, calm ballad. It's lost all its energy. Its spastic eccentricity. It wasn't meant to be baby making music, Eddie. Lol.
i dont like pearl jam either, but i remember i found a cover of this song that was absolutely awesome where he doesnt half butcher the lyrics. cant find it anymore, it was on grooveshark, but now grooveshark is like shut down or suttin
Can’t remember a good chunk of his own lyrics but that’s also what makes each concert cool! Lol you get a bit of different variation like every time, also songs evolve so if he feels a lyric speaks more to him he’ll just toss it in there
@evanisovich Why does it bother you so much that I have a differing opinion than your own? Jeez you're acting like it's a personal attack. I dont' like this version, you do . So what! Get over it. The End.
lol i don't care what your opinion is either does anyone else really. I was just trying to help you emotionally mature you can say hate and hate things all you want man its your life, but its a fucking waste too. So what if Perl Jam sucks or Justin Bieber or stuff like that. Truth is your not going to do shit about it so just relax and listen to what you like. Personally I think Joy Division sucks, but I'm not going to tell you I hate it and I'm sure you don't care either way really.
Yeah . Me I personally do love PearlJam for coming up with the Vitalogy album ... but i think this Daniel Johnston deserves a little more drive and anger ... wisely spoken . Any other band could have done so weak on that one , but Peral Jam , now , honestly ... this would rather be some bad surprise . This song still needs final shape , the original song , to put it in another way ... still has not found some honorable shell or shelter . (...)
If this was a real conversation I'd ask something "like please explain why you hate Perl Jam?" and after you gave some shit about there music being commercial and watered down 90s pop that destroyed blah blabh fucking blah. I'd then say ok thats true, but its not like there evil kiling folks. There in it for the money and so what and just accept it as it cause all that hate for a bunch of guys you don't know got you know where but angry about something you can't do anything about
@malsongs this is so long ago I forgot what the original sounds like. so I listened to this first, then firehose, then DJ. the covers were fine to listen to without context but they sound like hollow soulless garbage once I got back to the original. I take nothing back.
Lol I know right, I played it until he started singing and than instantly stopped it. His annoyingly gruff serious voice completely ruins the wonderful creative lyrics.
