This is my review of my Pearl Session Studio Select - Antique Crimson Burst.
Jamie King was nice enough to stop by and fine tune the drums and give a little tips and tricks. Drum head dampeners by Ace High Printing. We had a lot of fun. I hope you enjoy it.

Great vid. Currently looking at one of these for a Death Metal band. I thought that the Birch/Mahogany shells would be good for Metal due to the enhanced attach and bottom end over Maple. So far I have short listed this kit v's Pearl Decade Maple. Tough decision ahead. Thanks.

Ive been playing all my life and this is by far the best rock/metal kit i ever owned. Its a superior choice. :)

@@PeredyIzhere Thank you for the reply. I'm very happy to hear that the Session Select is great for Metal. It will be straight to the top of the list now. I'm waiting on my local stores to get it back in stock. Any other advice about the kit in this use case?

I’ve had a Decade Maple for about a year and a half and I’ve always got compliments on the sound. I use Evans UV2 for tops and G1 coated for bottoms. Just upgraded to a Masters Maple Complete and it is super punchy. Never heard a session select personally though.

Pearl have just released their Professional Series which now sits at the top of their intermediate lineup above Session Studio and Decade Maple. So that will be another kit to look at.

@@jeffprice6565 yeah I was thought about mentioning that. Also depends on how big of a kit you really want too. I got a deal on a 5 piece (10, 12, 14, 16, 22) Masters Maple Complete since Pearl released a whole new line of those too.

Those drums sound killer. What was the size of the kick and the depths for the toms and floors?
