I have the other clutch with the same bottom lock, and either something is wrong with it, or it just doesn't lock. Even after i tightened the tension screw, i'm still able to turn it and remove it from the threading. It definitely doesn't move when i play and stays in place, but it just doesn't lock. Is it suppose to be like that ?
I use the Gibraltar SC-QRHHC (Quick Release Hi-Hat Clutch) its great. It has a ball bearing mechanism that holds the cymbal in place. It will never undo because there are no threads. You have to physically pull it to remove the cymbal. Its really reliable and has an eye bolt to attach to the hi hat rod. I have not had any problems with it at all. you should check it out man. Great video by the way :)
the pearl clutch? You have to loosen the tension rod that is holding the block in place in the bottom piece of the clutch. It's meant to be tightened with you are playing so the bottom does not come off...but it kind of gets in the way some times and can make it challenging to get the bottom off....does that answer your question?
