I find it weird that young people say " bring back real music. This old school is better than anything we have today". We never said that in 70s, 80s, 90s,
Pebbles is stunning. Her dresses are sexy and classy. Her voice is pure gold some of the best of the late 80's They dont make music like this anymore, this song has class and attitude, and you can actually listen and hear the words of the song! Its amazing. Most of todays music has gone down the whole. Music is not like it use to be. At least we have these awesome classics to always fall back on and remember the memories of the good old days. 80's ROCK!!!!!!
Back in 1988, I was 24, and I bought my first brand new Mercedes - Black/Gray Leather 560SEL - This song was a hit for Pebbles and when it would come on the car radio I would blast it! Every time I hear it it takes me back to those happy days - oh yeah, its now 2010, and I still have the Mercedes!
This song was good 👌 back in the day when music 🎶 was music 🎶 😊 on the radio station like wgci b96, and wbmx them was the good days came out in 87, the era i came from my generation im a seventies baby and a eighties child that sister can sing love her music 🎶 and her work.
Shawn N She doesn’t look hot anymore. She’s sexy but I don’t think she’s turning heads. That’s my opinion based on her appearance on Wendy’s show. She looks More like a bitter past middle age white woman. LOL
Pebbles rocked those outfits. The way she throws her head back @ 4:38 and then smiles with a bit of attitude.. uff! Love this song. Thanks for loading the extended video.
oooooooooooh yeeeeeeeaaaaa the 80's when you could have a different Mercedes for every day of the week. when you could have a matching outfit to match your interior YES LONG LIVE THE 80's
OMG she is beautiful! I bought this album in 89? for this single and being a metalhead venturing out into new areas of music, this was just great. This song came out now.......Number one for sure.........
I listen to all kinds of music, all genre's, all decades. And I gotta say.....the 80's friggin' rocked...it didn't matter what you liked... alternative, club, metal, punk, hair bands, R&B, pop, old school...they were all unique and everlasting. And let's not forget MTV...back in the day when they actually used to play music videos. No wonder the 80's music gets sampled so much. Thanx for the song. Brings back good memories.
most of her tracks were R&B and/or Freestyle. If you went to a club playing any freestyle Lisette Melendez you would always hear these tunes at the same time.
+Priscilla Quao Yes. I use to wonder what happened to him. Then found out he went through a sex change. He's is now she..."Lana Houston". There is RU-vid video of him in a stage play. I was in shock. No wonder I couldn't find him. who knew?
The extended version is preferred version in my book. Damn, this song was made like over 20 years ago, but it actually sounds good right now... I got bump this in my ride.
Remember when they played those remixes on the radio late nights on school nights I be up all night trying to record them off the radio stations just trying to catch the songs
This song was definitely the jam I use to listen to this song on America's Top 10 w/Casey Kasem, Soul Train w/the late Don Cornelius and Night Tracks on SuperStation TBS It's hard to believe that it's been 25 years ago that this song was #1 on the R&B/Soul Chart and #2 on the Pop & Dance Charts God Bless Pebbles and BTW, this song was out when Full House, A Different World, Square One TV and Classic Concentration were still on the air and CBS Saturday Mornings became known as Saturday ROCKS
I remember when I was a child, visiting my grandparents in Charleston SC, and this song was on non-stop down there in 1967! My nana and Poppa loved them Wilson Pickett, and so do I! ❤
If only I had the money I would definitely try to find that C126 Mercedes I love the W126 Chassis that car is so rare today but I may never get it crazy though
That was around the time LaFace records started in ATL wasn't it? I heard it was off the chain back then and the music industry was very small back then, so people knew people who knew or worked with these artists and there were a lot of parties going on. I bet it was something else. I didn't move to ATL until 2006, and things definitely changed there
Awesome song. And I'm just a 28 year old white boy. But, there was a definite soul/pop vibe about the songs that were produced during this era. It has such a clean almost airy sound to it. I dig it. Makes me think of my childhood growing up in Blackhawk Country Club in the late 80's-mid-90's. God, what kick ass memories.... Reminds me of my mom's 560 SL Mercedes back in the late 80's.
aww this was a good song! Still is. I love the way the music and the videos were made in the early 90s! Much better and MUCH different fromda today! *sigh* Pebbles is an awesome singer and pretty!
@@armorgan2 The song was made because of her. She was involved with 2 members of the group. This was BEFORE she was Pebbles but still using her real name, Perri.
Back in 1988 you were considered cool if people heard this song playing on your car stereo. Back then I was young and having fun...and I would blast the volume up really high on my car radio so people could hear how cool I was listening to a Pebbles song. LMAO.
The brother that was in this video as Pebbles' companion was a lucky man🤩 . He was in this video with Pebbles in 1987 and before that he was in Janet's What Have You Done For Me Lately video in 1985. Plus, he rehearsed for quite some time in 1985 with Janet during the choreography/rehearsal portion of her Control album.
On this day in 1988 {May 28th} Pebbles performed "Mercedes Boy" on the Dick Clark ABC-TV network Saturday-afternoon program 'American Bandstand'... At the time the song was at #34 on Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart and working it's way up; six weeks later it would peak at #2* {for 2 weeks} and it spent 18 weeks on the Top 100... On the same 'Bandstand' show she also performed "Girlfriend", it was at #53 and working it's way down the chart; five weeks earlier it had peaked at #5 {for 1 week} and it stayed on the Top 100 for 20 weeks... And both songs peaked at #1 on Billboard's Hot R&B Singles chart; "Girlfriend" for 2 weeks on April 14th, 1988 and "Mercedes Boy" for 1 week on May 15th, 1988... Pebbles, born Perri Arlette McKissack, will celebrate her 53rd birthday in three months on August 29th {2017}... * The two weeks "Mercedes Boy" was at #2, the #1 record for both those weeks was "The Flame" by Cheap Trick...
Love both songs and yes, I was a former Casey Kasem Top 40 countdown listener when Hall and Oates guest hosted that week she was at number 2. I know some things too. Anyway, loved both songs by Cheap Trick and Pebbles. I always felt The Flame should have been #1 for one week and she the following week before Richard Marx knocked them both out of that spot. Again, I know some things too.
Hi everyone, Thank you for your comments. This song was released almost 20 yeas ago but still attractive, danceable and emotional isn't it? I really want her comes back to the music scene.
What I 💕 about music 🎵🎶 videos from back in the days was they didn't care about what color or national you war if you can rock it you was in a music 🎵🎶 videos with others drear God please let theses types of days come back n stay y'all heather lyn pastor aka hizzle
Pebbles - Karyn White - Tyler Collins - Nia Peeples -- together as a Freestyle group, imagine that! Mercedes boy i love the way you love me, but it's girls nite out, cause you spell trouble!
With all due respect, the comments should be focus on Pebbles, how beautiful she looked and what classic-funky- jam this was and still is --- not about hate, or anything towards a dancer that Janet, Pebbles, Atlantic Star used in the mid to early 90's..I am just thankful that my favorite video of all times is available for Pebbles fans & me to watch at my lesure when we did not get BET to play the long version ( that what this should be about )
