This update to the history of the Peckforton Light Railway charts its progress during 2023 - a new extension to the sand quarry siding, a new (Hunslet) loco, a new coach, some sound effects, a card cutter, a new motor block, a revised freight handling program, some running sessions and a couple of visitors. I've enjoyed watching your videos, and have especially enjoyed your commentary. You have the best outdoor layout I've ever seen. And your website is chock full of essential information and guidance for someone looking to get serious about garden railroading. I had a garden railway a few years ago when I lived in the U.S. I have now retired to France and am getting the bug to build another layout. Thanks again for posting such a wealth of information / entertainment.

Thanks Tim. So glad you're enjoying my videos and blog. I hope you get back into garden railwaying. It's such a rewarding hobby in many ways. Rik

Rik I must thank you for all the videos you made, I've see them all at least 5 times, and I still enjoy them. I always look forward to the next on. Should you visit South Australia, you would be welcome to the Kenton Valley Railway. I'm contactable through the British Model Railway Association.

Loving the 3D printed figures of The Tarpoley Amateur Dramatic Society what a good idea that is, the GVT Directors coach is brilliant and I really like your new GVT rolling stock. As for your blog, I might have been on it about 100 times, it is very informative.

Thank you for this year's updates. As a Chester resident, who's main working area for many years was around Tarporley, Beeston and Peckforton and other surrounding villages. I often think of your railway as I am driving around the area seeing the town and village names. I have recently read 'Duffield Bank and Eaton Railways', about Sir Heywood and 15inch gauge railways he built at his home and Eaton Hall Estate, Chester for the then Duke of Westminster. With it's link to Balderton on the Chester-Wrexham main line. What sight of must have been.

Wonderful, as always. Did Tom E make your crests? The belt looks remarkably similar to the FeckHallBahn’s one!!

Hi Nigel No, I created them from scratch downloading various bits and pieces from the web - riksrailway.blogspot.com/2017/04/how-i-created-crest-for-my-railway.html

Hey Rik, great video and another great year. Really enjoyed my first real full year on the channel, but, a question I find asking myself, what is the History of the railway, I enjoy railway history, and light railways, as charming as they were, have some very interesting stories. May I ask if you have a history of the PLR?

Hi Isaac I do indeed have a history of the railway. It combines factual info intertwined with fictional events - riksrailway.blogspot.com/2011/07/short-history-of-peckforton-railway-and.html.

I think I may have gained some inspiration here. I've wanted to work on a garden railway myself (albeit a much larger scale with live steam), but I wasn't entirely sure how to go about doing so. I've got some videos to binge watch it seems. Less seriously, 3:15 did anyone else notice the praying mantis attempting to pounce on the loco's rods?

Ha ha! I think I'd know which would come off best! 😊 Good luck with your planned railway. If only I had more space ........ 🤔

Hi Michael. One of my mates on the GardenRails.org forum is doing just that - but battery powered rather than live steam - gardenrails.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=6537&start=3220

Marvelous video and line. Please keep em coming, the season's greetings to you and yours. You've a Psion 3a that still works?! I had the 3's and a 5 the hinges failed on most🤕☹️ I've still a software package somewhere🤔🤔 Yes I've contributed to your blog visits. Thinking of setting up one myself, I've written for magazines, but a wider audience may help more modellers🤔 BTW are you a flexwing microlight pilot?🤔

Hi. Yes, the Series 3a is my original one from way back when. I also had a series 5, years ago, but sold it to buy a PDA. I've only just sold the PDA. Never had any hinge problems but I do open them up very gently just in case! No, I wish I could afford the time and expense to have my own microlight aircraft. The flight was a sixtieth birthday present from my missus.

@@rikbennett9 I switched to a PDA for awhile, can't recall the brand, known brand, more solid state (for want of a better phrase) than the Psions, that had software failures, so I gave up and went back to using a Filofax✌️💜😀 Modern shiny screens are all very well until in sunlight (unless one buys very expensive brands), my VDU has no glare on it either, helps no end in most lights. I miss the Psions though, gosh, 1994 or prior I started using them, seems like yesterday, where does all the time go?! I've a few hours on Fixed Wing microlights, great fun, never able to afford too much of a good thing and my health threw a spanner in the works too - but I miss the feeling and freedom 💜✌️😥
