Pedada fruit (Sonneratia caseolaris)
The pedada fruit is a mangrove fruit that lives in brackish waters, the base is wrapped in flower petals, and is non-toxic. People rarely consume the fruit directly because it tastes sour. The fruit contains nutrients that have not been utilized. The fruit can be processed into food products such as jam and syrup. Processing can affect the nutritional content of fruit such as vitamins.
The pedada fruit (Sonneratia caseolaris) is one of the constituents of mangrove forests and can be found in abundance on the coast of Ketapang. Besides vitamin C, pedada fruit also contains carbohydrates (76.56% grams), fat/glycerol (0.9 grams/fruit), protein (4.83 grams) and minerals (Pradipta et al., 2008).
