I have been playing guitar since 1985 and just now getting interested in pedals. This channel is helping me learn how to do it. Thanks!

I have two CS12 power supplies in a pedal rack. I use AC for the rack mount Decimator. Pretty sure my Whammy V is using 9v DC 500ma but I'll have to check again

How about an episode on solving weird pedalboard problems. For example my pedalboard used to pick up radio until I grounded the input of my pedalboard to the output of my pedalboard. The radio was instantly gone along with some noise. I’m sure there are other weird issues you guys have had to solve.

Don’t have a bum bag, but, I do have a V3Dirty Little Secret, from Catalinbread, that says it can do 9v-18v, and I used it for awhile at 9v, because I didn’t hear a lot of difference when I first used it. After getting a little better power supply, that has two power outs, that can be adjusted from 6v-18v at 250ma, I started playing with higher voltage. I heard someone say that they ran a 9-18v capable pedal below 18. I resized it just gave me more headroom, or more clean tone as the volume snd preamp knobs are rolled up. So, I really use it like a crunch channel, and to stack other pedals into.

I’ve used a volume at the beginning of a chain, but it’s because I more often prefer to use my foot and pedal for volume as opposed to the guitars volume knob…

Don't get me wrong. It sounds great. And is the industry standard for a reason even before the advent of streaming. But another mic that sounds basically just as good as the SM57 even for vocals. It sounds awesome and very similar to the SM7B. Also has the perk of being 1/4 the price. I'm not sure why more people don't just use that.

Have you guys had a conversation yet about EHX pedal and how they almost always recommend using 9.6v?

Additional red flags…super tight cable bends (leave some slack for movement/new pedals/etc.) that are near the pedal but could be stressing the jacks. Great episode guys! P.s. No reply from Pedal Genie using discount, are they still in business?

I had a question about today’s episode regarding using the tuner outs on vp’s.. I got an Ernie ball vp jr forever ago and got it modded by this1smine when I was in school. He did the tone suck mod and added a buffer as well. Do you know if those were done well enough to still use the tuner-in? Os is it best not to?

When it comes to the Dual Lock, I know there’s several different type in the 3m range. Something about the number of stems per square inch I think. So, my question is, do I mix and match? One type in the board, a different on the pedal? Or a single type for both?

My Wampler terraform suggest 9-18v and I tried it and fried it. Turns out it’s a misprint and can only accept 9v. Brian kindly remedied the situation but just a heads up y’all!

Dear Chairmen, Really awesome episode and learned so much. I'm in the process of sorting my first pedalboard build. Just had a few questions. 1) I currently run straight into a Digitech drop pedal so that I can easily change tuning. From there the signal chain goes through the drive pedals via a disaster area dpc5 switcher. I want to integrate a fuzz pedal via the switcher. Am I ruining my tone by putting it in a switcher loop, and should I put it before the drop pedal (I don't have a buffer). 2) the DPC5 has a tuner out. Does this also affect tone like a tuner out on a volume pedal? 3) when choosing a fuzz pedal, is there a way of knowing whether it needs to be up front in the chain, or if it can come after buffered pedals? Thanks so much! Regards from the UK.
@jordrop
@jordrop Год назад
@jacjones7414 not sure if you got answers on your own, nor am I an expert but thought I could pitch in my 2 cents. 1) you can measure impedence before and your Digitech and i believe it would give you an idea whether you want a buffer or not. 2) most of the tuner outs are usually wired to not be in the signal chain so shouldn't effect the tone but i'm not familiar with the DPC5. 3) i believe most fuzz pedals do not like buffers so you would want to put it pre-buffer in your chain. Maybe helps, maybe hinders :)

as i got further into the video, looks like i lied about the tuner...sorry.

Question… are pre-made patch cables from companies like Ernie Ball, Boss, Daddarrio, etc soldered or solderless?
@user-fy6cj8mn2r
@user-fy6cj8mn2r 3 месяца назад
Pretty sure the fact that they’re pre-made means they’re pre-soldered. Solderless cables are the ones where you get to cut the lengths of wire to attach the ends yourself, but the sealing is crap

I use the truetone cs12 and ran out of 9v outputs for pedals. Any thoughts on the truetone adapters that convert 18v to 9v?

You never mentioned anything about ABY/amp switchers, wireless,
@allyourbasearebelongtous2191
People translate volume to tone change. Some stuff should just come with a blindfold and an assistant to make the volume the same so people actually hear the tone.

I use a cs6 for 8 pedals. If I daisy chain 2 overdrives on 1 power output does the overdrive perform less ?
@phunkyjunkee
@phunkyjunkee Год назад
It depends on if you’re running them simultaneously. Also, look at the power draw for each pedal (milliamps) and make sure the output on the supply is enough to cover both.
@phunkyjunkee
@phunkyjunkee Год назад
If I have to split a power output I try to use the higher amp outputs, and I try to split them between 2 pedals that wont be simultaneously on, and if they are they must both draw low amperage.
@J1JL
@J1JL Год назад
Thanks! I don’t stack them, but I thought that didn’t matter. Also enough current left and no noise issue. But i would hate it if it doesn’t work at optimum performance with headroom and clarity and all. I should a / b with a different power source and listen of there’s a difference but i like the theory as well

What’s the red flag for pedalboard builders?
@enuxs
@enuxs Год назад
My favourite sentence: But it sounds good for the money.
@4602experience
@4602experience Год назад
To suggest a volume pedal at front is useless and redundant fails to accept the performance aspect of guitar playing. Many actual guitarists use a volume at front for easy volume swells instead of using your guitar volume. Guitar playing isn’t an optimal signal chain. The disconnect between gear builders, and actual players. Lots of info to chew on in this talk. Cheers

Maybe this is more of a pet peeve than a red flag, but I do not understand people who use zip-ties to attach their pedals to the board instead of Velcro or dual lock. Every time I see it my brain just breaks
