The city of Chur has been awarded the "Flaineur d'Or 2017" for the redesign of the pedestrian zone from the station square to the Martinsplatz square. The project represents a quantum leap in terms of attractiveness and expands the already large and attractive pedestrian zone in the Old Town of Chur.
In recent years, the city of Chur has undergone a remarkable change: The historic old town and the busy Bahnhofstrasse have been freed of motorized traffic in stages and transformed into a generous attractive pedestrian zone. This comprehensive project of the Department of Planning Planning Environment has been realized by the civil engineering services and has received a recognition award of the "Flaneur d'Or - Pedestrian Traffic Infrastructure" of the Association "Fussverkehr Schweiz". The award recognizes infrastructures in the public space, which promote pedestrian traffic in particular and increase the quality, attractiveness and safety of walking. This national competition was held for the ninth time.
