Hello everyone and welcome back, glad to have worked on a piece of film history today, no matter how small but as the owner of this vehicle said, "You saved the day" which was nice to hear.
There were a few technically difficulties with the filming this week so apologies for that but I hope you all enjoy what I've put together for this weeks vlog.

When i took the cam cover of my saab to look at the timing chain i told my neighbour i found the issue of the noise its just the top part of the right runner broken. Then when i eventually stripped the timing cover off i found out the right hand runner had actually broke into 5 pieces. Luckily the engine was fine and after replacing everything i got myself a car with no problems lol. Hope you and Mrs Kirby have a great week ahead and that the weather improves

That’s the problem once you start digging deeper into engines you’ll find more issues you never knew were there lol

Bloody glad I bought ar lass a 1.5dci instead of a Tce engine. Those K9k engines are bloody good IMO

Yes, but I had literally turned the car on forma brief second to hear how bad the chain was rattling and didn’t want to risk it, it’s not until I was running the engine after the smoke became more apparent 👍🏼

The owner is good as gold tbf, admits the service history has been poor which is why it’s ended up on the state it’s in

The piston rings on the 1.2 engines were known to cause oil burning in the Nissans

Are the 1.2 engines fitted to Nissans? A guy at work had loads of bother with a new one - 2 new engines from the dealers - due to the rattle of the cam chain - bad design rejected it eventually

Thanks for the air freshener Kerby 🙂 About the Citroen timing belt. I'm no tech but if you drain the coolant from the block, how can you introduce new coolant into the block with the thermostat in the closed position? Cheers!

Glad you got it ok 👍🏼 yeah won’t get rid of all the old coolant, I could drain the rad too but I guess it’s just the way I’ve always done it, even that way they’ll always still be a couple litres left in the system somewhere 👍🏼

valve seals due to burning oil? or poor piston rings? if compression is good. good chance it's the valve seals?

Possibly, but wouldn’t explain the metal flakes in the oil

@@kerbsidemobilemechanic Engine wear and tear, theres so many metal to metal contact and without the correct lube or timing of lube that's the consequence
