PEDULLA STUDIO | Building a Walnut Sculpted Coffee Table

This Sculpted Coffee Table is made from solid Walnut consisting of around 20 pieces of timber all 40mm (1-1/2 inch) thick. Each piece is roughly cut then glued and stacked together to form the unique shape of the coffee table, a process known as stacked lamination. From this point I used an angle grinder with saburrtooth carving wheels and my festool and metabo sanders as well as numerous hand tools such as spokeshaves, files, rasps and planes to finesse the table to its final shape.
Its finished in a wipe on poly then hand rubbed to a smooth finish using a thinned down food grade mineral oil.
The top is 10mm toughened glass.

This is without exaggeration the single most beautiful wood working project I've seen. Gorgeous work! I was blown away at the sanding phase and while the oil was still wet it was especially stunning.

when i put screws i always find they work better if i put the clamp and after insert the screw, i find most times if i apply the right quantity of screws i dont need clamps after. What a beautifull proyect and a really awesome finishing! greetingsfrom chile! peace, love and prosperity!

I’d love to do stuff like this. Unfortunately I’m only a builder, not a creator. If you gave me a plan for this I’d knock out as many as you need and get it down to its most efficient. If you put a gun to my head and said “make me furniture that is beautiful art” I wouldn’t waste either of our time. I’d just pull the trigger for you. Beautiful beautiful work.
