Jim "Pee Wee" Martin was a paratrooper in WW2. He served at Normandy, Market Garden and Battle of the Bulge. Jim describes in this film his life from basic to today. Jim was part of the Band of Brothers.

Tough as nails. Tender-hearted toward wife and people. Humble, yet shares his opinions. So many lessons and character traits to glean from this amazing man.
Several years ago I had the pleasure of meeting a WW II Veteran that had been in the 82nd Airborne. He had jumped into North Africa and fought in that campaign. He was still someplace else when they had the D-Day jump so didn't jump there but was later trucked into Normandy. Then he did jump into Holland for the Market Garden Campaign. I didn't ask him any questions about it I just listened to him tell what he wanted to. There was a lot of 82nd Airborne memorabilia around his house that I really enjoyed looking at, These Vets say they are not hero's but their fellow soldiers in arms that never got to come home are the true hero's but when you are in the presence of the Vets that went through that horrible war you can feel and just tell that you are in the presence of someone very special. ..I was very humbled and felt honored that I had got to meet someone of that stature.
William Mawk, I feel the same way. I'm just now beginning to understand how amazing these guys were, and are. One of the 101st who went up into the Eagle's Nest, lived in my neighborhood. He also set the "Eureka Beacon" in Eindhoven, Holland. I said, "Up there on a pile of bricks! You had no protection!" He said, "That's why it had to be done fast, and you couldn't even think about it." I think I remember him saying 21 seconds was the time it took him to set it up. He was still teaching marksmanship in the 1990's, and had a bullet making machine in his basement. A bale of hay with a target stood against the cinder block wall. Behind it was a metal shield. All the bullets went into a trough behind the bale. Then he'd melt them down and start over. There wasn't one hole in the target that was outside the middle dot!

It's an honor to hear and read these stories about these heroes and the horrors they had to live through. When I was his age I was a spoiled little punk drinking beer and enjoying my life while these guys were killing ppl and watching their best buddies die in horrible ways. As much as we want to hear about it, can you imagine how difficult it must be for these brave men to re live their stories? In my opinion this is the last great generation and I am forever grateful and thankful to these men for the lives we live today! To all WW2 Veterans and all war veterans, thank you for your service and my freedom. Rest in Peace and God bless you all!
I think it's time to watch "Band Of Brothers" again. Thank You Mr. Martin, not only for what you did, but for leaving these stories for us to listen to. We all should Stand In Awe of these Gentle Giants. 5'7" he may be, but Millions Stand In His Shadow, Looking Up At Such Men As These
Jim Pee Wee Martin celebrated his 100th birthday I believe in May of 2021. He is the oldest living member and Ed Shames was another. They may be the remainder of the 101st.
I'd like to submit a name of a paratrooper who jumped in battle of bulge and was shot while descending. It is possible Jim many have known him. I will submit the name if there is a way to transfer it to Jim. Jim may be the last person still alive that could identify the person. Regards
With anteeeefaaa and others burning down businesses and buildings, and having many politicians encouraging this behavior, I feel all their sacrifices may have been for not. It may be time for history lessons across this Great Country, which I believe will truly UNITE America! For to long history has been left out of school curriculum, which has led to possibly two generations of young Americans lost. They no longer understand the Bill of rights. The constitution, perhaps the greatest document ever put on paper, is nothing to these people. I fear Liberty will be gone soon. Godspeed!
My mother once told me that my grandfather was asleep in bed after the war he was an ex commando my grandmother tried to wake him up by shaking his shoulder and she ended up across the bed she then learned to wake him up by tapping the bottom of his feet
Yes I understand completely. After a wound to me I had the same reaction when people tried to wake me up. Now my wife says my name very loud and often to awake me

With all due respect, on the subject of courage, 85% of all workplace injuries and deaths occur in the construction industry. Contrary to popular belief, if you want a safe job become a fireman or law enforcement officer. 150% of soldiers deployed in combat to Europe/Normandy Invasion were casualties by the end of WWII.
The total number of men deployed in combat to Europe/Normandy would consist of 100% is the total number. How do you figure half again as many men in that group was a casuality?
@@dennissalisbury496 Being this discussion was about Pee Wee Martin's film that spoke of the 506th, it wasn't referring to the entire group of men that participated on the day of the invasion, just the actual men who came in as the 506th. That is what I am drawing my percent from.
What A Generation. I just wish Mr. Martin would be able to give a dressing down to the MAGA Nazi cabal. He could probably kick any of their butts even today.
