I would love this kit, I wonder if it could be made to work in a one bedroom apt? Being a disabled vet this would be fun to make if it is in kit form do you sell these ?I love crystal radios .they been around for a long time in so many forms yours is well designed.
Hi Ron, This is a reproduction of a kit that was sold by Mike Peebles of www.peeblesoriginals.com/. Unfortunately, Mike passed away last January. Someone made a clone of the kit and sent me the parts. It would work in an apartment, but you need a longwire antenna. My antenna is about 50' long, goes out the window and is ties off to a tree.
I've heard where people have run antenna wires discreetly around apartments. I like 50-100' of wire. You can buy twin conductor speaker wire quite cheaply. I like wire larger than 20 gauge. Night-time reception is best. Perhaps some insulated wire (Covered wire) run out to a tree at night and retrieved before the busybodies get up. I've even used a 50-foot extension cord. Hook antenna lead to both electric prongs. With an outside deck, you could wind 50-100 feet of wire around the legs. People wouldn't know it was an antenna. How about wire wrapped round and round a cardboard or non-metallic container. 2 feet square or larger. How about weaving antenna wire along a string of Christmas lights?
