I thought that it was going to be more complicated to match all the pieces but you make it so easy by just measuring one piece and the rest fits by itself. Thank you for the great tip 👍👍
Arturo Chacon oh good! I’m so glad you liked it! This technique works great on large spaces like walls, but if you do the pattern on a table or something smaller it’s a bit different. I have the herringbone table tutorial that would help with that! Thank you so much for watching!!
Thank you for this video and sharing what nails you used! We just did a feature wall in my living room yesterday and I woke up this morning to multiple pieces missing. My poor dog is terrified of the living room now hahahha! We did put an adhesive on the back of the vinyl and they still fell. So now we will be nailing them! Great video, THANK YOU THANK YOU!
Looks so good- I ordered some vinyl flooring and was about to take it back until I thought hmmmmm maybe I could put it on the wall and then I found your tutorial. Thanks babe! ❤️🥰
The adhesive on the vinyls is just good enough to hold it on the wall. But if you want them to glue them together you have to install like a piece of plywood. This way you don’t have to use nails and you can get a cleaner job. To glue the vinyls tiles all you have to do is to heat them. A hair dryer works just fine. If you use another glue to the back of the vinyls that creates a chemical reaction between the glues and they will fall off of the wall.at least that’s what happened to me... I thought I should share this with you and everyone here.. good luck and nice work 👍
Michelle W the glue on the vinyls are not strong enough to hold even if you decide to sand the paint.. second it will be a mess and not good for your lungs.. if you want a a decent job you will have to use plywood.. if you want an excellent job, and actually I prefer it this way, is to cut the Sheetrock, install new ones and then try to glue them.. now here is the tricky part.. some vinyls are gonna be strong enough to hold, and don’t forget to use a heater or hair dresser, but some of them are not gonna hold for long time because the the vinyls were made or fabricated long time ago.. in my opinion I don’t thing vinyls are a great option because they mostly designed to stay on floors.. if I was you I will go with tiles and any backsplash of your choice and you will get a better results, and more profitable design because if you decide to sell if you owe your house, you will get more money out of it.. there are tons of tiles and backsplash out there and you can find cheap.. I hope this could help with your design..
Thank you SO much ! I JUST this evening thought of using vinyl wood-looking flooring on the walls and found your video ! I just want a plain uneven boards wall...but your tutorial gave me everything I needed !!!!!
You are my new favorite RU-vid personality! All the qualities of a true diva start with DIY, right? In the past year, I've gone from being a person who owned a drill but reserved it for someone else's use to someone who keeps 4 batteries in meticulous rotation. (Balance is an elusive !@#$% that escapes me every time!) About the peel& stick tile...my kitchen floor is self-adhesive tiles from Lowes that have been down over a DECADE. Everyone I tell that it's peel & stick are SHOCKED. It's held up beautifully, and I'm not exactly Mr. Clean around here either...it's gotten no special treatment, and there are ZERO signs telling it's self-adhesive tiles or that it's been down 10+ years, and I live through four Southern VA seasons every year. As much as it pains me to say it, my ex put it down, and he said then, "If it's done right, it will last. Get in there and look pretty." I did as I was told, and unlike everything else he said, his word was good on this one! With all that said, putting them on the wall is a whole different story simply because of gravity. I can also attest to the double adhesive=repellent reaction... It had not occurred to me to pin them to the wall like you did. Brilliant! I have a STACK of tiles very similar to yours I got on clearance at walmart for $5/box, and I see a herringbone feature something in my very near future! I'm off to continue my Eternal Harvest Decor binge! Catch ya in the tool section! :)
adambmabe atgmaildotcom awesome!! Those tiles were my favorite and they do hold up so well. I did end up redoing it because of the gravity situation, make sure to watch my wall update video. 😉 thank you so much for being supportive and I sure hope it inspires some awesome Diy projects! 👊🏼 thanks again for sharing some of your story and for sticking around! ❤️
@@EternalHarvestDecor and thank you for giving of yourself to the world like this. I think, as a whole, people underestimate what it takes for a person to open themselves up as you have here. I guess I'm just trying to say...it's not lost on me. I'm a beginning woodworker, and those are words I never thought I'd be typing or saying! Your videos helped me decide a router is my next purchase, although the way you talk about your miter saw makes me want one of those as well. Lol but I've got a table saw and a circ saw so I can probably hold off on that for now. Your barn door design, along with your barn wood painting techniques, are all just brilliant. You've made everything so accessible and doable. You've helped me run out of excuses not to try, and you've helped me find a reason to go ahead and do it! I appreciate it so much. All the best to you and yours. ...With much gratitude, your newest fan, Adam
adambmabe atgmaildotcom Adam truly thank you, it really is pretty scary 😜 but I really love doing it and sharing with others. I started with no knowledge years ago and I wished there were more resources! Thank you for being so kind. ❤️
I have been wanting to do this for a couple of projects (kitchen backsplash and now my bathroom). Would like to see more detail on inside and outside corners if you do more than one wall. And ceiling and floor. I'm guessing for floor removing and replacing baseboard.
The factory adhesive on the vinyl plank is supposed to be rolled over with a heavy roller or hand pressure roller. Can also before peeling back paper off , use a hair dryer to the paper side for couple minutes to make tile adhesive really sticky...works
Looks good. You can also use a Brad nailer to ensure they stay up. Especially in a kids room where they can bump into it or throw balls against the wall or even with different seasons and temperatures and humidity. The brads will be a just in case scenario. Great job tho. I'm going to try this as a ceiling feature I think.
Happens to me today never done wood laminate peel n stick finish a whole wall two hours later one fell 10 min after the first all started to fall down didn’t know what else to do thanks for the tip
It looks great! I can’t tell for sure from the video but does your wall have any texture at all? Your ceiling obviously does, but it looks like you might have a smooth, no texture wall. My walls have an orange peel texture, so I’m wondering if this would work without adhesive. Anyone?
Hey how did the vinyl hold up with the nails.. did they cause the vinyl to crack? I am thinking about putting nails in mine cause liquid nails is not working
barbaydian261 I just posted an update video this Sunday. The nails did not crack it but now I’m starting to have a few peel off. It’s been a year 🤷🏻♀️ I would use titebond quick and thick.
Edgar Palma Murillo thank you! I appreciate your comment and question! I don’t thing these would be a good choice for a bathroom, but they have actual ceramic tiles that would work perfectly. Just use thin set instead of adhesive. Good luck and thanks for watching 🙌🏼
It's my experience that the new "luxury vinyl peel & stick" flooring planks uses the same adhesive that was on the old cheap 12"X12" peel & stick floor tiles of the 1970's -- They just don't stick and will lift within a month or two or much less. I would prefer to use the "bare back" vinyl planks that have no pre-applied adhesive and require a troweled on separate adhesive intended for vinyl products, but the "bare back" vinyl planks are not readily available in Canada. I've talked to two peel & stick vinyl tile manufacturers about using an additional adhesive with their adhesive coated tiles. Neither recommended using an additional adhesive and neither could recommend an additional adhesive that would work or would be compatible with their adhesive coating.
Mine has been up for months and has been great, no problems at all. I do videos in front of it all the time. I love it, I know that the adhesive I recommend in the video works great as I’ve used it on other barnwood walls I’ve done. I racked mine on with finish nails no adhesive, been perfect. Thanks for watching
I had the very same problem with mine peeling off but I prepped the wall with 3 mm mdf and applied a top coat of glue over the mdf then attached the tiles only to have summer come around and these tiles grow and shrink rapidly so it was falling and buckling everywhere so be careful when this happens
Allen Wallace oh shoot! Yes vinyl will expand and contract just like wood does, but I’ve not had that big of a shift with. Sorry to hear that! I will have to do an update video in a few months. 😉 luckily the wall was cheap haha 😜
I havent had to at all, its been up for a few months now. I have been really happen with it. I think you should be fine. its the same as if they were on the floor and the seam has been good. just make sure to tack them in or use an adhesive.
I had them up for two years before having problems but looked good before then but agree need to be tacked on I’ve taken my down now because it was my behead wall and got a bit dangerous falling off near our heads while sleeping but I live in Melbourne Australia very up and down temperature day to day
nope I did not cut it I just layed the edges together I didnt cut any of the pieces until I got to the second and third rows, if you wnat to dm me on IG maybe I can help? Sorry you ran into that
Yes I need to dm you I’ve pulled the whole wall down and tore up all my dry wall trying to get the angles right. I wish I saw your reply earlier. Is your name the same on instagram? I’ll dm you tomorrow 🙏🏿😩
It’s great! I didn’t use any additional adhesive so kine is just tacked in with finish nails. I had one piece I missed with the nail gun come off, but I tacked back up and it’s been great! It’s my fave wall in the house, I do a ton of videos in front of it haha 😉🙌🏼
@@EternalHarvestDecor what type nail/brads did you use? Did you use a nail gun? We used additional adhesive and they still fell off. Well, I think slight settling in this old house (and drastic weather changes here in TX) caused the wall to bulge out a little and "pop" them off, because only the ones in the middle fell off.
TCRUISER16 that’s a great idea, I didn’t think I needed to. I totally thought these would be so sticky it wouldn’t need it. However, they are too heavy to be placed without extra adhesive or nails even if I would have used TSP wash first. Live and learn 🤷🏻♀️ then share haha 😉🙌🏼
Hi i love your project!! How Much did it cost for your size of wall? And so how many packages of peel and stick wood did you purchase? 😊 last question how did you manage to put the electricity thing on? Thanks!
Hi! Thanks for the comment! I give a formula in the video to determine how much flooring you need and how many packages for that space. You just multiply the width and length and that’s how many square feet you need and the boxes will say how many square feet are in each box. Make sure to use other adhesive and you can just measure and cut the box out when you get to that point and it shouldn’t interfere with attaching the face place again it’s thin material.
@@EternalHarvestDecor yeah there is a special roller that works best. It's like a laker roller (not sure i spell it right).. Think though about it.. if u add them to the ground u press it on with a force greater than on the wall.. Also u would be walking on it so it not going any where. But i know the glue needs to be press into the surface otherwise in a few hours it lifts up or falls off..depending on if it's on a floor or wall.
It really depends on the floor you choose this one was $1 a square foot but you can find deals as well so measure your space and then go check out the options! Good luck!
Eternal Harvest Decor Long story short we spent yesterday doing the wall. Then in the middle of the night heard it come crashing down haha. Ended up going and buying some adhesive and just finished. Hope it’s stays this time lol
James oh no! I had that happen too, I show it in the video. Mine stayed after nailing it in, It’s heavy material, hope the adhesive works out. Keep me posted! Feel free to dm me on IG too 😉
