Cooling in a car would be the killer. This is designed to fly, lots of air cooling it, at least a prop blowing over it. In a car you'd need to design some high volume cooling system or water jackets and a radiator LOL.
sound like a great project, the engine sounds like from a sports car. it would be an almost perfect match. i was thinking of testing it in a "bobby-car" and take it for a ride ;-)
I have a question, Let's suppose a thrust of an engine is measured horizontally just like in this video is 25kg, would it be same vertically ( straight up from the ground)?
that's correct. onboard glow system that i made myself from a regular esc. i can switch it on and off and when on it automatically reduces the current with more throttle. these engines love to run on 3 cylinders without the owner knowing :-)
amazing! did you ever see someone installing it on an r/c car? i'de like to build a vw bug with it and installing a flywheel for a lower rpm range, what do you think?
@@Chris-Workshop I always wanted the MC24 when I was younger, but could never afford it. In 2012, when I started my first real job (which I still work at), I got an mc22 with HoTT from the factory. I'm still using it. The newer transmitters are very cool, but they look like toys in my opinion. I like that old, boxy, technical design a lot.
@@VintageTechFan haha, great! i'm still using the MC24! i cant believe this video is 8years old. also still have the engine. although its not getting as much use as i would like to.
Oh my God! The sound of your video with this flying is insane. I finally see a non electric motor I want. Fokker Dr.1 would be good for me. This motor could carry quite a large triplane. Sound like 200 mph and really just 2.
For that type of build I would have thought one of the model radials would be better suited, while this one would certainly have the power it doesn't really match historically. I've seen videos of this engine in more modern stuff like a Cessna 182 and it's very impressive in that. This might suit a WW2 V-engined fighter
